You know, one of the two remaining campaigns called me about being a delegate because I had contacted them about their campaign. I had to explain that I was, in fact, a democrat. She nicely tried to work on me.

A great deal has been made of Republicans and Democrats voting in the opposing party's primary as spoilers. Just remember that there are people that are issue voters first and partisans second. I think both sides need to remove the cloud of suspicion for the people who are legitimately trying to contribute to the process and vote their conscience, especially when it may not be best represented by their "own" party.

With all that, I hope to see Manassas Park take a more active role in the November elections. We need to get out the vote, regardless of party. By the same token, those running for office cannot and should not ignore our city anymore. Come to Manassas Park, knock on our doors, talk to us!

Oh, and it sucks he sued you. If you need money, I will gladly hold a bake sale...

Stevo, if you are reading... take yourself a little less seriously. What is that Shakespeare said about protesting too much... ;-)

Denny,

Very good point. I understand that Brendell was very exclusionary in his leadership of the MPGOP, and I guess he paid for it.

I would imagine that an official call will be published in the MJM, in keeping with State Party Rules, and that the candidates will aggressively contact potential delegates. Since there will most likely be a lower turnout from MP, each delegate's vote could have a greater weight than a City or PWC delegate.

A bigger question I have is does this development help Weimer or Miller more?

Greg, thanks for bringing attention to this problem.

This is only good news if the Park party lets more than its inner circle know there's a chance to participate. Otherwise they'll have 5 delegates each casting 10 votes. The candidates need to aggressively recruit to avoid that happening.

In February of this year, so little notice was given of the Manassas Park nominating process that only 11 people attended and selected the party's nominees for City Council. Some who did not get notice then took their candidacy to the general election as independents. And beat the party chairman for a seat on the Council.

It is my understanding that the Chairman of the GOP for Manassas Park contacted the Chairman of the Manassas GOP today and that they are set up to participate in the 50th District nomination process.

If I am wrong, I will refrain from posting. If you are wrong, I suggest that you check your facts before you post!
