City Council adds new members
By citizenofmanassas | 10 July 2006 | Manassas City | 1 Comment
On July 5 Marc Aveni and Andy Harrover were sworn in as new members of the Manassas City Council. Steve Randolph was also sworn in, even though he was an incumbent.
This may result in a significant shift the dynamic of the Manassas City Council. What do you readers think will happen as a result of these two new members being on board?

Marc Aveni will definitely have an impact as a no-nonsense conservative, and I expect some solid leadership from Andy Harrover as well. This past year has seen some contentious battles where the council had the choice between sticking to it’s guns on hard issues or caving into pressure, sometimes applied by those who don’t live in Manassas. I think we’re going to see some more backbone in the council.
And I think the chances of another big tax raise are a heck of a lot less. Last time Jackson Miller was the lone councilmember trying to hold the line, and now there’s some help. I think the appointment to replace Miller when he’s promoted to the House of Delegates will signal the new direction of the Council and say a lot about what the consensus will be.
