LEFTYBLOG TRASHES RISHELL CAMPAIGN

Over the weekend the blog Anonymous Is A Woman wrote up a piece entitled “Jeanette Rishell: June Without A Cleaver and Labor Advocate” which provided this little tidbit:
As she ended her speech she said that she had been told that she had to present herself like June Cleaver, the famous 50s TV character who was the role model for moms, always perfectly groomed and wearing pearls. But Jeanette had a twist on that image. She promised, “I will be like June with a cleaver.”
And the crowd gave its approval. It grew even friendlier for the grandmother whose pledge is to fight for the little guy in Virginia.
Black Velvet Bruce Lee posted an article last evening, pointing out this bizarre statement, and apparently it merited an edit or two in the article, which is now entitled “Jeanette Rishell: Fighting Grandma and Advocate for the Common People”. The above excerpt has been changed to this:
As she ended her speech she said that she is proud to be a fighting grandma working to better the lives of all working people in Virginia.
And the crowd gave its approval. It grew even friendlier for the grandmother whose pledge is to fight for the little guy in Virginia.
I don’t know about you, but I think there’s a huge difference between these two versions that goes beyond a simple edit. Did the Rishell campaign suddenly discover how badly they screwed up in creating such poingant imagery of a radical leftist running around with a meat cleaver? Did this blog suddenly realize how bad an idea it is to actually publish Jeanette Rishell quotations and opt instead for a Jim Webb inspired replacement complete with marxist rhetorical flourishes? The behind the scenes story must be utterly fascinating.
Readers of Black Velvet Bruce Lee have long known that it’s foolish to try to hide the truth. Quiet retractions of things like this simply don’t work.
So is it now Jeanette “Meat Cleaver” Rishell?

June “Meathead” Cleaver?
Actually, the only time I’ve ever seen someone in politics running around with a meat cleaver was when two of the aliens did so at a YRFV Convention in Virginia Beach. And Jim, it was before your time, though I’ll be you know at least one of ‘em.
