I'm not sure WHETHER the SBE can issue an advisory opinion, but obviously, the power of the County Party Plan is a function of both the State Party Plan, as well as the authority of political parties under Commonwealth law. Thus, the legitimacy of the nominating process is governed, in part, by Commonwealth law, Earl.

The opinion of the SBOE is not part of the equation. Conventions are governed by the RPV Party Plan, and do not fall under the purview of the SBOE. That the PWCGOP is in planning mode is a good thing, and you need a date, to actually plan to. If one candidate drops out, there goes the need to have a convention, but you still must do the planning.

The date can be set, and always canceled later. It doesn't matter that a special election has yet to be called for, or a date set. This would be the only thing that the SBOE would have any play in.

We know the opinion of RPV now.

What about the opinion of the board of elections? They haven't issued one?

Let's see which of us is better at prognosticating. I'm thinking short notice, middle of the summer, last day of the fair, a special election that wasn't expected -- I'd be shocked if we got more then 300 delegates, but let's say 500 to your 1000.

My auxillary prediction is that, if there ARE 1000 delegates, one of the two candidates will run away with the nomination.

I wonder how much it will cost to file as a candidate. This might be my big opportunity. Except my wife will be out of town, so I'll only get one vote instead of two.
