Two 50th HOD Debates Being Scheduled

By Greg L | 31 July 2006 | 50th HOD District | No Comments

It looks two debates are being scheduled between nominees Jackson Miller and Jeanette Rishell, to be hosted by the Prince William Committee of 100 and the Bar Association. These will be sometime in September-October timeframe, and the details are still being worked out. This seems pretty reasonable, even though Jeanette Rishell is a member of the Committee of 100, but they tend to be pretty bipartisan in their events.

Last week the Rishell campaign put out a press release calling for four debates, which seems like overkill to me — after the second debate I would imagine interest will wane significantly unless these develop a pattern of providing a lot of interesting fireworks, which is unlikely. I spoke with Jackson Miller about debates over the weekend, and he hadn’t been contacted by the Rishell campaign or received the letter the Rishell campaign promised they were sending. So I guess we have to wait a bit to see what the specifics are of Rishell’s proposal.

The debate schedule will probably be sorted out pretty quickly in order to give the Rishell campaign plenty of opportunities to start whining as early as possible. Liberals sort of have a history of this sort of behavior, and I don’t expect Jeanette “Moonfruit” Rishell to disappoint.
