Is this part of “social justice”?

24 August 2006 | Virginia Politics, 50th HOD District | Comments Off

Over at NOVA Town Hall Sophrosyne came across the following at the uuworld website:
Polyamory Awareness It is possible to love more than one person at a time with honesty and integrity. If your family is polyamorous or if you have questions, you are not alone. UUs for Polyamory Awareness invites you to join us in […]

Miller’s First Mailing Hits the 50th

24 August 2006 | 50th HOD District | 10 Comments

Today I got a tremendous mail piece from the Jackson Miller for Delegate campaign, which is a four page photo-album introduction to Jackson, his family, and his experience. It has pictures of Jackson as a cub scout, graduation pictures, wedding photos, and a picture which appears to be the first time jackson received a salute […]

MS-13 Murder

24 August 2006 | Crime | 5 Comments

The Potomac news reports that MS-13 members, one from Woodbridge, have been charged with abduction and murder in relation to an incident in Stafford County.  Two children less than two years old are now without a mother.
First it’s graffiti, and then this starts to happen.  Stay vigilant.

BVBL Lawsuit Update

24 August 2006 | Blogs | 9 Comments

I met with my attorney Monday evening to go over the interrogatories in the lawsuit Steve Chapman has filed. The questions were pretty consistent with the unusual cease and desist letter which BVBL received at the beginning of this ordeal, and will involve a little bit of work to not only answer them, but to […]

Feder Tanking in PWC

23 August 2006 | US Congress, Prince William County | 1 Comment

I hear from GOP insiders that Judy Feder is getting absolutely no traction in Prince William County and it’s municipalities, and is polling very far behind Frank Wolf. Although I haven’t been given the poll numbers, the tone of what I’m hearing leads me to believe that Frank Wolf is ahead in the local polls […]

Illegal Aliens and Crime

23 August 2006 | Crime, 50th HOD District | 19 Comments

Joe Budzinsky over at NOVA Town Hall has a great post on how illegal aliens contribute to crime, with some interesting quotes showing how some Democrats deny there’s any problem at all. Sometimes this problem can be simply annoying (or sometimes hilarious). In other cases, it can be enraging, such as when the 13 […]

Flash: Rishell Demonstrates One Consistent Position

22 August 2006 | 50th HOD District | 1 Comment

Kenton Ngo was kind enough to provide some video clips of Jeanette “Moonfruit” Rishell from her nutroots fundraiser last weekend, and managed to unconver yet another instance of Jeanette Rishell calling for tax increases. I’ll save you the trouble of suffering through his long tirades by providing this partial transcription from the end of the […]

OK, Explain This

21 August 2006 | Virginia Politics, 50th HOD District | 1 Comment

Jeanette “Moonfruit” Rishell has avoided making any comments on how she feels regarding gay “marriage”, opting instead to talk about farfetched technical problems regarding the Marriage Amendment. She probably recognizes that it’s a lot more palatable for the voters to hear about separation of powers issues from her than her previous statements regarding gay […]

I’ve been having fun with this for a while, and I think it’s time for BVBL readers to have some fun with this as well. How would you complete this fine picture of Bruce Roemmelt and Jeanette Rishell?

Roemmelt: BVBL Impact on Rishell Campaign

21 August 2006 | 50th HOD District | 1 Comment

I was pleased today to see a post by Bruce Roemmelt where it’s apparent that the campaign of Jeanette “Moonfruit” Rishell is concerned about the impact Black Velvet Bruce Li is having on the 50th District campaign. Bruce tried to brush off the criticism levelled against Ms. Rishell like this:
Politics can be hurtful. People […]

Freudian Slip from the WP

21 August 2006 | Humor & Satire | Comments Off

Those of you who get the Washington Post, turn to page A6 in today’s edition (Monday, August 21). In the lower right corner there is an ad for the Classified section. It is unintentionally very funny.
Since many of you don’t get the post, I’ll describe it for you. It shows a man […]

BVBL Gets A New Name

20 August 2006 | Blogs | 7 Comments

You may have noticed that you’re now reading “Black Velvet Bruce Li”.
My attorney has advised that he’s pretty certain that if challenged in court the name of this site as originially branded would be upheld, but the expense of defending against a trademark suit advanced by this particular law firm would not at all be […]

Rishell Nutroots Fundraiser

20 August 2006 | 50th HOD District | Comments Off

James over at The Virginia Progressive reports on a small fundraiser held by Bruce Rommelt for Jeanette “Moonfruit” Rishell this past Saturday, and it seems like the Rishell campaign is really trying to establish a relationship with bloggers from the other side of the aisle. In attendence was Kenton Ngo of 750 Volts, Howling Latina, […]

PWC Convention Report - Part Two

19 August 2006 | PWCRC, Prince William County | 1 Comment

I spent most of the convention behind the scenes instead of on the floor, which made it difficult to see everything that happened, but I did manage to see the candidate speeches and be present when the important actions. There were a couple of surprises from the public side of the convention which are worth […]

PWC Convention Report - Part One

19 August 2006 | PWCRC, Prince William County | Comments Off

This week I’ve been deeply involved with preparations for and delivery of the Republican convention for the Prince William County BOS Chairmanship. Normally for a convention you have a lot of lead time, several weeks for getting delegates signed up, and at least a week between the deadline for delegate forms and the convention. This […]

Webb’s Waterloo?

19 August 2006 | US Senate | Comments Off

The most recent poll from Rasmussen has Allen ahead of Webb 47% to 42%. This is notably worse than the last poll (51% to 41%). While I can’t see the details of the Rasmussen poll, because I won’t pay the $95.00 for a subscription, it does look like the “Macaca” incident has hurt Allen, though […]

“Social Justice” Takes a Beating

19 August 2006 | Prince William County, 50th HOD District | 5 Comments

Gary Friedman, the presumed Democratic candidate for PWC Chairman suffered a thorough thrashing at the Democratic Convention today. Although he’s been promoting pretty popular policies for managing growth and development, he also ran on a “social justice” platform. For that and probably other reasons, he got taken down by someone who entered the race only […]

No PWC Mass Meeting

17 August 2006 | Prince William County | Comments Off

The Prince William County Republican Committee has announced that the Mass Meeting, which would have been necessary if delegatesa and alternate delegates had to be selected, has been cancelled. This is expected and what normally happens, but just in case some delegates were unsure about how the process normally works, I’m relaying the information […]
