NLS: 50th HOD IS SAFE REPUBLICAN

The widely respected Not Larry Sabato reports his current outlook for the special election for the 50th District House of Delegates this morning as “Safe Republican”. I think his summary is right on the mark:
Democrats would have been the underdog here no matter what, but they might have had a chance if they had nominated a better candidate. Rishell is a pretty outrageous nominee and if Democrats are going to nominate candidates focused on different issues than the electorate- then they don’t deserve to win.
Meanwhile, that unusual blogger from Fauquier county Howling Latina trumpets that Jeanette “Moonfruit” Rishell has the endorsement of the AFL-CIO, and promises that churches from all over will put their tax-exempt status in jeapoardy by raising campaign contributions via the collection plate. The idea may have caught on from the practices of the Bull Run Unitarian Universalists who are supporting Jeanette Rishell. She also tries to cover for Rishell changing her policy between revisions of her press releases, conveniently ignoring the Gainesville Times article which confirms the post at Too Conservative.
In the comments section of the NLS post, Howling Latina uses her real name of Mimi Schaeffer and threatens to work precincts in the 50th and alter the outcome of the election, while Bruce Roemmelt whines and complains about the post. I guess NLS must have really hit a soft spot, given the reaction of what seems to the Rishell for Delegate team.
