Haymarket Citizen Website Takedown?

By Greg L | 20 September 2006 | Blogs, Prince William County | 4 Comments

I’ve noticed that for at least the past week the website TownOfHaymarket.info is down. I’ve tried to contact the webmaster and domain owner several times, and even sent a message to their web hosting service, but haven’t gotten any response.

This website has been very critical of Mayor Pam Stutz and the Chief of Police, and has provided invaluable coverage on the fierce political battles going on in this small town. Although there has been talk of legal action by the town against the operator(s) of this website, I haven’t seen any formal action filed or news reports. Hopefully these are temporary technical problems, and not a case of government trying to muzzle criticism by the citizens. But as this outage continues, it is becoming increasingly likely that there is something seriously amiss here.

We at BVBL are willing to lend a hand to these patriots if there’s anything we can do. And that also goes for Shaun Kenney, who appears to be having some issues with his blog also. It seems like someone “parked” his domain.

UPDATE: The Town Of Haymarket is claiming they nothing to do with the unavailability of this website, which seems credible.  Instead of getting an error, the website just doesn’t load which could suggest a webserver problem.  Shaun Kenney seems to be back online and his website is working fine now.

Webserver problem as well… hosting just disappeared.

Note to self (and others): Don’t use 1PlanHost for your webserver.

    Hello,

This is definitely a webserver problem. Much to the dismay of a few people in the Town, hopefully the site will be back up by the end of October.

Thanks for keeping an eye on us!!
