"We have lost our ambition, our imagination, and our willingness to do the things that built the Golden Gate Bridge" - Barack Obama (aka President Malaise)

Busy Day In Manassas

By Greg L | 7 October 2006 | Manassas City | 5 Comments

Today was the Fall Jubilee in Manassas, the last major street event before the elections in November. Although I didn’t have a chance to attend, I heard from several people that the event was pretty well attended in spite of the weather. In attendance was Congressman Frank Wolf, Councilman and Republican nominee for the 50th District Jackson Miller, and a strong presence from the Manassas City GOP. Representing the Democrats was Sharon Pandak, Democratic nominee for Chairman of the PWC Board of County Supervisors who for some reason was looking for votes in Manassas City, which is outside of her district. Webb, Feder and Rishell had no presence today as far as I know.

I talked with Councilman Marc Aveni who said he had an opportunity to speak with Congressman Frank Wolf regarding the ongoing circus with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Congressman Wolf promised to look into the matter next week and do what he can to ensure that the city is being treated fairly and that the investigation is being conducted properly. Having seen Congressman Wolf in action before on constituent issues, I’ll bet HUD is going to start issuing flak vests and helmets next week as it would be entirely in character for him to vigourously pursue this. Woe be unto they in the Federal Government who would disturb a constituent of Frank Wolf and invite his disapproval. Big time.

I’ve also heard that Tony and Leslie Kostelecky’s baby is doing well. Your prayers are being answered. Keep them coming.

I’d look for Manassas to engage every elected representative in Washington that they can put their hands on. They’ve received a raw deal and they need help.

Feder had it on her schedule at her website, although I too did not attend.

You know, Manassas Park has a fall festival next weekend. 10-3 at Costello Park. I bet I don’t see one candidate. I am becoming kind of cynical about the degree to which we register on any candidate’s radar.

Well, since you weren’t at the event, as far as you could tell in terms of Rishell being present turns out not to have been very far. She was there, for about an hour an a half shaking hands and meeting lots of voters. As for Sharon Pandak being in Manassas, well, last time I checked, people from Prince William County come into the city of Manassas all the time, especially for this particular event. So, it was a good use of her time as well.

Feder was there also. She was oblivious! I was wearing Wolf, Allen and Miller sticker’s and carrying about 20 Miller balloons. She came up to me and tried to shake my hand. I said, “Nice to meet you, but do you honestly believe I would vote for you?” as I indicated my apparel. She said, “oh I guess not.” Even if I had not made up my mind who I was going to vote for, after that encounter, I certainly wouldn’t vote for her. Anyone who is that clueless should not be sent to Washington.

If it looks like a parrot, talks like a parrot, is it a parrot? No it’s Judy Feder.

    Greg,

I wouldn’t be so sure about Frank shaking things up. I hope he does, but this is so near the election and I’m sure he want’s no controversy right now.

I was there when he was confronted by Mark and then Andy. He was not a happy camper about it. I am glad they did it though, because he could have put them off indefinitely if they didn’t.

I really like Frank, always have, and I hope he does the right thing. I hope he does it now, not later. Now is the time for us, the citizens to put pressure on him and our other elected offcials. Write to them now! Let them know we are watching and awaiting the outcome of this and what kind of help each of them is willing to give.
