Where’s Rishell?
By RHarrison | 1 November 2006 | Jeanette Rishell | 14 Comments
Has anyone else noticed that the Jeanette Rishell campaign has gotten very quiet recently? Her supporters have almost given up defending her on this blog. The other liberal blogs in this area have moved on to other things. Many of her supporters seem much more concerned about the Marriage Amendment than her race. I haven’t even heard about her being at any events recently. I know she hasn’t been at the VRE.
She’s down probably 10 points, give or take, with one week to go. Has her campaign decided Miller’s lead is insurmountable? (Hint for the Rishell campaign: It is.)

I think I saw her picture on a Milk Carton…or maybe it was one of those “Have You Seen Me” post-cards I get in the mail. Either way, she has been out of the public-eye. Maybe she’s afraid of being called on her past social(ist) activism, or someone will ask her how she plans to pay for all of her proposals, without raising taxes. Maybe she’s just afraid of screwing up in public this close to the election. Maybe she’s at home, depressed that she couldn’t run far enough from the BRUU to convince voters that she is not a banzi-liberal. Maybe she’s at a secret summit of the Woodbridge Workers Party, Mexicanos Sin Fronteras, EZLN Zapatistas, planing a reprisal against the City of Manassas for moving forward on 287(g). Maybe she’s visiting Ed Johnson, Manassas Dem Chairman who has yet to recover from his very public melt-down, the other night. Maybe she’s crying her eyes out that it appears the State Party has cut her loose, knowing she is going to lose, and not wanting to waste any money on her.
Maybe she’s seen her poll numbers….and is working on her consession speech.
Concession?
Some of her signs disappeared after the gusty wind last Friday on Manassas Drive, but they are back now. I have had Republican neighbors tell me they are voting a Democratic slate because they are tired of business as usual in Washington - that slate included Jeanette Rishell. I would think Rishell would be foolish to give up. Equally foolish would be Jackson Miller treating the election like a coronation. Neither side should take a single vote for granted, because it is all about who shows up on Tuesday.
Well, since Miller isn’t going to Washington, your neighbors might well still vote for him.
Anonon…better get the tissues ready. You are going to need them…BooHooHoo!
I didn’t say that I was voting for her. I am tired of people treating every contest in this area as a non-contest. Earn our votes, for pete’s sake. And as I said, my angry neighbors included Rishell when they talked about voting on Tuesday. I am not sure about the 50th yet, but I will be writing Greg L. in as my choice for Senate. I just have to bring along the correct spelling of his last name…
Don’t let down in supporting Jackson!! Polling numbers are good, but it is still a fight. Rishell is as liberal as they come! If we get too complacent she could actually sneak in.
This is a woman who actively campaigned to support illegal aliens in thier bid to overcrowd every neighborhood in town. She will raise our taxes and does not have a transportation plan.
Anonon,
Jackson was at the VRE stations last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and then back again this week. Each day, he started at 5:00 am. He has been out knocking on doors everyday and his campaign is organizing a massive effort for Election Day. Jackson Miller has not and will not take this election for granted.
But it looks like Rishell may be taking her defeat for granted.
For God’s sake, we’ve got real lives to lead and can’t spend all your time shooting down every idiotic and childish statement on this web. There is actual campaign work to do. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to campaign in a venue where everybody is a rabid partisan, usually against Rishell.
Not all of us take VRE. Can’t you send him to Starbucks sometime? That’s where a lot of go who drive!!!! It wasn’t just directed at him - I know Allen has stopped by Manassas, but I am used to canvassing in my neighborhood. Feder has ignored us, so Wolf hasn’t been around much either. Jim Webb - when was he here? Since Rishell’s people stopped by earlier in the cycle, I haven’t seen a soul. I am sort of afraid that my neighborhood has been written off by the canvassers because it is now heavily immigrant. Some of us are still here and we still vote. Seeing canvassers and talking to them about the issues is an important part of how people make up their minds, especially when they aren’t voting a straight ticket.
Starbucks? Please don’t buy Blue.
Buy Red…go to SevenEleven. Coffee is just as good, at half the price of Starbucks.
Everytime I go to the 7-11 by my house, regardless of the hour, it is full of men buying beer. A little scary, but I will give their coffee a try. Thanks. Starbucks gets pricey, but I don’t drink or smoke, so it’s a vice that I can afford at the moment. Just barely.
As I was walking out of the house, I got a call from someone claiming to be representing the Jackson Miller campaign (at the end, they said the call was paid for by the campaign - it came up private number on caller ID, but I have had several poll calls do that) asking if I intended to support Miller or his opponent “Janet Rishell” on Tuesday. I said I was undecided and the person ended the call. What gives? Was it last minute fundraising? I would think if they wanted me to vote, they would give me a pitch or try to talk to me.
“Everytime I go to the 7-11 by my house, regardless of the hour, it is full of men buying beer”
My guess is the brand is Modelo, or Carona (on fridays, which is payday for illegals).
7-11 coffee is great.
Bats, yes largely, but there are always a few people buying Bud or the Beast (Milwaukee’s Best.) I don’t what it says that there are so many semi-drunk men at my 7-11 in the morning hours that I won’t go in…
I will try to find a less… um… interesting branch to sample the coffee.
