VCDL Celebrates
By Greg L | 13 November 2006 | 50th HOD District | No Comments
The Virginia Citizens Defense League is mighty happy one of their own got elected to the House of Delegates and mentioned Delegate-Elect Jackson Miller twice in tonight’s VA-ALERT. In their recap of the mid-term elections, they noted “In state politics, pro-gun Jackson Miller showed, yet again, that being pro-gun is a plus in Virginia.” I’m not quite sure if Jackson Miller’s strongly pro-second amendment stance was a decisive factor within the 50th district, but it certainly didn’t seem to harm his electability. Even Jeanette Rishell tried to make nice with the 2A crowd, although she was a little reluctant to say what she meant by “I support the Second Amendment”.
They also take the press to task for their continuing lack of coverage on this election. While they rightly criticize the Post and the Times for ignoring the race, it’s worth noting that the Gainesville Times and to a lesser extent the Manassas Journal-Messenger did provide some coverage on the race and the results of the election.
Executive member Mike Stollenwerk noted that the press, including the Washington Post, Washington Times, and local papers have ignored pro-gun (and VCDL member) Jackson Miller’s win in the 50th House district. You can hardly miss Mr. Miller’s pro-gun stance - it is on his main web page!

“None of the VA related news analyses has even mentioned the Miller victory despite his pro-gun stance. Linked with the fact that ostensibly “conservative” voters who came to the polls to approve the marriage amendment, and voted against the Republicans at the Federal level, voted for a pro-gun Delegate in Northern Virginia, replacing a [deceased] anti-gun Republican in that district.”
If you feel strongly about second amendment rights in Virginia, becoming a member of VCDL is a smart idea, and at $15 a year it’s a great deal. And not only did the VCDL-PAC endorse Jackson Miller, but a lot of members contributed to Jackson’s campaign.
Now let’s see where Jackson Miller gets plugged in for a committee assignment. Where should they put a police officer and Army veteran…
