Even at that, what percentage of the vote are Hispanics and is it worth writing off the majority to pander to a minority?

Oh wait, I forgot, there's a reason it's called the "stupid party".

Why would legal immigrants be concerned about legislation targetting illegal aliens?

Notarino - That's because they don't want to anger any one block of voters, especially Latino voters. I know some have said that they vote Democratic, but much of what I have read and experienced lead me to believe that they are conservative and voting Republican. Regardless, politicans want their votes! Their votes don't matter so much on a local level, but they certainly do on the national level.

We actually have to make the effort to harass them on the subject and educate them about the available options. For example, when I asked Michele McQuigg about having the state participate in the 287(g) program, she really didn't know what it was. I assume no one has been contacting her about it, so she hasn't taken a look.

Delegate Jackson Miller certainly knows about the program, as does Delegate Lingamfelter. We need to be contacting our other elected officials, telling them what our problems are, and educating them about what the potential solutions might be.

We can't get what we want if we don't ask for it.

By and large our local (City Council) officials are trying to listen to the people on the subject of illegal immigration (we're mad as heck and NOT going to put up with it anymore). That said, why aren't our state and national elected officials listening????

I wonder if they had one of those flyers expounding the virtues of Manassas for illegal aliens found with another van load somewhere northwest of us (Ohio?, if I remember correctly)?

I wonder if this van was coming from California. If so, consider that it it made it almost the entire way across the country before any police officer was suspicious enough to pull it over AND involve the ICE.

Pathetic.

Maybe Smith will get a calll from these folks.

12 detained after I-66 pullover

"U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement officers detained 12 people Wednesday morning after a Virginia State Police trooper pulled over a vehicle with illegally tinted windows.

Police stopped a Ford E250 cargo van that had California tags around 9 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 66 just east of U.S. 15, said Sgt. Terry Licklider, police spokesman.

The trooper ticketed the driver, 21-year-old Samuel Dejesus Pimentez of California, and after talking to him and the passengers, determined the passengers were in the country illegally, Licklider said.

The trooper called immigration officials and 11 men, including the driver, and a woman, all Hispanic, were taken to an ICE facility in Northern Virginia, Licklider said."

That's what it always comes down to with the supports of illegal immigration and the open borders lobby (OBL)--money. Follow the money.

I have heard Steve Smith defends illegals in court. If that is so, it makes sense he has a pro illegal immigration stance.
