Eagles Come Back And Win Semi-Final Game

By Greg L | 2 December 2006 | Uncategorized | 2 Comments

BVBL reader Maureen Wood sent in this report with a request that I post something about Osbourn’s spectacular win in the state semi-finals:

The game was awesome. It was the state semi-finals and now we go to the finals next Saturday in Hampton.   We were behind the whole game. Salem dominated the field in the first half and it looked like Osbourn didn’t have a chance. Half time score was 14- 7 Salem.  Osbourn came back as a different team. Osbourn won the game with 30 seconds left on the clock.  Final score 27-21 Osbourn.  We had as many fans as the Salem Sun-devils had and we traveled 3 1/2 hours to get there and they only had to travel a few miles.

Congratulations Eagles, and good job to all the fans who traveled so far to support the team and were rewarded with what was one of the best high school games of the year.

Congratulations to the Eagles, and also to Chantilly HS for winning their III/6 Semifinal game.

Now we get to see the bizarre logic of VHSL pairings…The Virginia III/6 game will be pair teams from Chantilly and Manassas (less than fifteen miles apart as the crow flies) and they will play the game in Hampton, VA, or somewhere else donwstate.

The place where the semi-final and championship games are played, are determined way in advace. It would seem logical to have the game closer to home, but they have to plan ahead.

It is amazing the support that Manassas businesses and residents have shown the football team. It’s like winning the superbowl! This is a big deal here as I’m sure it is in Chantilly.

If you like football and want to see a great game, come on down to Hampton and show your support! I know the game is this Saturday, but check the paper for the time.
