Simple Question, Easy Answer

By Greg L | 15 December 2006 | Crime, Prince William County | 8 Comments

Supervisor Wally Covington has asked a simple question: how much are illegal aliens costing the county? I’m sure the answer will amount to “too much.”

Hopefully the staff report which will result will cause the Prince William County board to join with the Manassas City Council in engaging with the Department of Homeland Security in the Section 287(g) program at the regional Adult Detention Center. While I welcome Supervisor Covington’s recent interest in issues related to the effects of illegal aliens in the county, we’re a just a little short on action on this issue. It’s been over a month since Manassas City adopted their resolution on the subject.

About a month ago there was a staff report due on the 287(g) program, which hasn’t shown up yet. Maybe this will remove whatever impediment there is to having the staff fulfill it’s duties to the board of supervisors and give them the information they need to move forward on this issue. We need this program at the Adult Detention Center. There’s no reason at all to release illegal alien convicts at the end of their sentences back into society when they shouldn’t have been here to commit crimes in the first place.

Keep pushing. Your last two sentences should be repeated over and over.

We have a slightly different situation in Loudoun. I’ve been told there is a single ICE agent assigned to all of Northern VA (not sure if this includes PWC) and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office currently makes more use of the agent than the others combined. So our officers have made the argument they don’t need 287g because illegals convicted of serious crimes (sentences 12 months or more) are never released but always turned over to ICE.

I’m still trying to figure out if this is actually true, while also trying to lend positive support to the men and women in uniform.

    Keep up the good work.

Our government makes it mighty hard to collect data on illegals. We can only estimate costs associated with illegal aliens.

Some of those cost include: Medical, they use our hospitals as doctors offices because it’s free. Education, with overcrowded houses, they are not paying their share of taxes. It cost almost tree times as much to educate a non-english speaking student. They can receive free lunch and breakfast at the schools.
When they are in a car accident they don’t have insurance so it costs the average American citizen more in insurance premiums. When they commit a crime they are in our jails and we have to pay for that also. They also receive free legal council when they go to court.

The list goes on and on. They shouldn’t be here in the first place so we, as American citizens should not have to shoulder the extra costs associated with ILLEGAL immigration.

Our Federal government needs to step up to the plate and enforce our current immigration laws!!!!!

Why not just grant them all amnesty and make them citizens? Then they’ll have to pay their fair share of taxes. Everybody wins!

That was already done in 1986 (granting illegal aliens amnesty).

I guess we’ll just keep granting anyone who sneaks in and manages to stay for long enough amnesty every 20 years.

Why don’t we just grant amnesty to all criminals. America will be the first crime free Country. We all win!

Here is an idea. Why don’t we make English the national language and stop granting costly special privileges in our public schools and other agencies to non-English speaking immigrants? This financial burden inflates the schools budget and our taxes.

For example, our schools will accept a 12-year-old non-English speaking student into the school system as a 6th grader. First, we are required to teach them English, then later we discover the students academic level is substandard for their appropriate grade This effects everyone because it increases the school budget, lowers the overall test scores, places our Federal funding at risk, and can potentially damage the reputation of our schools.

The solution is to implement an entrance exam so that any student who enters into the PWC school system for the first time is required to pass at their academic level for their age. If the student cannot, then the burden is on the parents to seek out and pay for a private tutor or an educational training center. Same with a driver’s license. Administer the tests in English, after all the road signs are in English!

Think of all the money we’d save by simply making English the national language! We could invest that in programs like nano-technology and robotics for our children that will help pave the way to our global future.

If you’d like to see what our future will more than likely end up being, check out a movie called Idiocracy. I haven’t seen it yet but the reviews sound about what you’d expect life to be like in 500 years if we continue our present course of dumbing everything down.
