Way To Go

I’ve heard tonight that the Manassas City Council has selected Jonathan Way to fill the term of Jackson Miller on the City Council. This is pretty much what was expected, given the current makeup of the council.

Jonathan Way brings a strong resume and credentials to the council and I expect he will do an excellent job representing the interests of the citizens of Manassas.

I expect that candidates Maureen Wood, Deirdre Pennefather aren’t going anywhere and will be back again for the next elections and will provide strong challenges in the next municipal elections. Phil Kiver will likely be seen knocking on plenty of doors as a passionate and energetic activist who in time will be ready to make a bid himself. And folks like Harry Clark and Bob Schilpp will likely get snapped up for every commission, board and advisory council they can be convinced to contribute towards, as their skills and abilities are now clearly demonstrated. A strong slate of citizens have now violated that classic rule of “don’t demonstrate a capability in the vicinity of a defined need”, and will undoubtedly suffer the consequences.

And congratulations to the newest member of the City Council, Jonathan Way. It’s going to be a trial by fire, and we all wish him well.

UPDATE: The Manassas Journal-Messenger reports on Way’s appointment with an article titled “May Appointed To City Council“.  I’ll forgive them for declaring Mike May who is running for Occoquan Supervisor victorious a little early.
