I agree, Mr. Harrison...I've known Dave for many years, and in fact went to high school out in Nokesville (BDHS) with Dave's wife Copper. He is really an outstanding human being who only made a few missteps in judgement, particularly in assuming the best in some people not worthy of that trust. I was also VERY disappointed when I heard that he had moved out of the county. It was obviously a move out of PWC politics. He will, and has, indeed been missed.

If we can put aside political concerns for a moment, I will be sad to see Dave Mabie go. His campaign against Sen. Colgan was one of the first I worked after moving to Manassas. I was able to spend a good amount of time with Dave driving around PWC putting up signs and dropping literature. I recall one afternoon when Dave gave me a two hour course on the design of campaign signs, while putting up his. It was not only extremely educational, but one of the most enjoyable afternoons I've spent in politics. I learned a tremendous amount about PWC and politics from Dave during that campaign, for which I am still grateful.

Dave Mabie, along with Tony Kostelecky and Steve Thomas, got me hooked on Manassas politics. He is a gentleman and a credit to this area. Life, and politics, go on, but I would like to pause a moment to recognize Dave Mabie’s years of service to the citizens of Manassas and PWC before we begin bickering about what happens next.

Thanks Dave.

I think this is the full story, Greg. And the problem with holding a special election is that you will still need to hold a general election in November. Actually, what will probably happen, if memory serves, is that the Circuit Court judges will appoint someone to fill the remainder of the term. That's how Bill Ryland had the job for a few months, before he was beaten by Dave in 1991.
