Interesting to note, at this moment, there are 43 postings
under "Zapatistas and the QMCB" - primarily blog
blathering that "things are terrible and someone should
do something" and only two postings under "Manassas'
Legal Entanglements" - a candid look at what happens
when local government does try to do something.
For clarity:
1) It is the role of the FEDERAL government to
control our national borders -- they simply aren't doing it
and it has created a huge problem across America.
But even worst than Katrina, where they also did
precious little, they have a gun with a hair trigger
aimed at any group that tries, by default, to do something -
to control illegal immigration and/or overcrowding.
2) So vent all you want, but there are thousands
of local governments around the country - and who
has tried to do more than Manassas and had lasting
success ? I'm not interested in proposals in every
Podunk, but what has been enacted and, more
important has it held up in court? Google away -
I haven't found anything - maybe you can - let
us know.
3) And one more time - ICE top officials have
stated again and again the Section 234(g) program
is for illegal immigrant FELONS - they don't want
us local folks wasting their time with simple illegals.
You don't like it - I don't like it - but that is the deal.
4) I wish Delegate Miller well - maybe, just maybe,
the state will throw us a life line.

You want your blood to boil? Meander over to HUD's website and see how many "Private Enforcement Grants" they hand out - our tax dollars being handed out like so many M&M's. The last round was good for $18 Million. Here's a list of the winners: http://www.hud.gov/offices/fheo/partners/FHIP/FY2006FHIP.pdf

btw, did HUD EVER submit a final report on Manassas? Wasn't it supposed to show up within a month or so?
