Faisal Gill’s Demonstrated Leadership
By Greg L | 4 February 2007 | 51st HOD District | 38 Comments
Faisal Gill’s push card tells voters that he is a “community leader”, and lists several volunteer positions that he’s held. It’ll be interesting to look at exactly how Faisal Gill has done in these positions, as it might tell us something about how he might serve as an elected official.
One of these volunteer positions was Vice Chairman of the Prince William County Republican Committee. From what I understand, he failed to attend so many of the committee meetings after being named to this position that no one seems to remember if he ever attended a single meeting while serving as Vice Chairman. Nice qualification.
Another of these volunteer positions he lists is Chairman of the Prince William Taxpayer’s Alliance. His leadership there is so exemplary that they haven’t held meetings since he became chairman, and the website of the organization appears to be “parked” right now and is used as an advertising vehicle for internet mututal funds. That’s quite a successful record.
Yeah, this is just the kind of leadership that Occoquan needs in the House of Delegates.
Someone please, please end this.

Greg, how dare you report these things!
Greg, you are the el Cid of the infidel. Jad and the Jannisary Ibn-al Chapman and Caliph Suliman-Kopko the great are amassing the armies of the faithful. Should Allah, the merciful will it, we shall unleash a storm of electoral Jihad against the Blog Crusaders and E-Templars. Gill will be victorious, and set about implementing sharia law. The Virginia State Police will be forced to form a unit of muttawas. His education plan will include charter madrasahs. Illegals will be welcomed into the commonwealth, as long as they convert to the one true faith.

Greg, given how much you have already undermined your own credibility, it is a little late for you to bring up legitimate subjects for discussion. Nonetheless, I agree that in addition to showing that he has held responsible positions, Faisal Gill will have to establish that he accomplished something while in those positions.
Unfortunately, the way you are approaching this subject is somewhat cockeyed. For example, instead of showing that Gill did not attend PWC Republican Committee meetings, what you effectively said is that you do not know anyone who knows whether he attended any meetings. So what?
On the other hand, your attack on Gill’s efforts as Chairman of the Prince William Taxpayer’s Alliance are a bit more specific. It will be interesting to see how members of the organization respond, but considering the source, they may not bother.
No response from Gill is required. It is clear that the taxpayers group that he claims to head is defunct.
There is an anti illegal immigation meeting in PWC on Feb. 10. It will be important to educate attendees there about Gill and Gallinger’s advertisements offering to file asylum requests for person’s awaiting deportation.
Gill as Vice Chairman of the PWCRC was probably the worst we experienced. One has to remember he was pushed by Doherty and Fitzsimmonds who loaded the committee when he was voted in. Of course all three were the primary members of the PWC Tax Payers Alliance which is another story of complete incompetence. When he resigned Gill made the comment that he didn’t run for the job to do the kind of things he was being asked to do. And yes, his attendance at the meetings was sub-par.
Citizen Tom, you’ve made two good points. First, the daily claims by BVBL are just not credible…in the image of Maxwell Smart, BVBL makes claims like this one…”This guy is ready to take over the Prince William County with 500 terrorists…would you believe 5 angry Muslims…o.k., would you believe a dog named Ishmail?” Just not credible. Second, you’re right that members of the Taxpayers’ Alliance will probably chose not to respond. In fact, Gill’s campaign is not going to worry about BVLB’s daily charges either…BVBL takes no responsibility for documenting the truth. Accordingly, this is the last time I’ll address BVBL’s prattle.
Indeed, in response to BVBL’s last posting, Jonathan Mark has stated that the Taxpayers’ Alliance in now defunct…perhaps. Many of the conservative grassroots organizations rely on the same engines to operate. Much of the energy of the leadership of this group has gone to work on other issues; fortunately, this was due in large part to the lack of tax threats. This, of course, has changed recently. Now that Gill is a candidate for delegate, we can expect him to pass the reigns of the Taxpayers’ Alliance. Also we know where he stands on taxes.
I’ll take this one parting shot: BVBL IS SEEKING REVENGE FOR THE LAW SUIT. THAT’S ALL THIS HAS EVER BEEN ABOUT. HE MAKES THIS OBVIOUS WITH EACH NEW CHARGE. IF HE WERE AFTER THE TRUTH, HE WOULD HAVE PUT ALL OF HIS CARDS ON THE TABLE. For those who follow his prattle, I ask the same question as Obi-wan did in Star Wars: “Who’s the more foolish, the fool (BVBL) or the fool who follows him?”
It’s fine if you’re going to question my objectivity, but it might help if you disclosed your support of Steve Chapman’s candidacy and active participation in the Faisal Gill campaign when doing so. Weren’t you the one who actually presented Steve Chapman with the “Republican of the Year” award in 2005?
If you believe that Faisal Gill did a great job as PWCRC Vice-Chair, and as the current chairman who may have driven the Taxpayers Alliance into the ground, I would be fascinated to learn why you, as an apparent designated blog watcher for the Faisal Gill campaign, can believe this. Others I’ve talked to just think he’s lazy and unreliable.
But the spin on this one should be enlightening.
So what if Mike presented it? It was voted by the entire PWC GOP Committee. Who presents it is immaterial.
Bottom Line: Everyone has some type of agenda in politics. If they say they don’t they are lying.
As a total outside observer I read with interest the happening over in PWC and I happen to think Greg L. makes some excellent points, but it is also important to remember that all supporters and opposition to Faisal Gill have their own agenda’s. This is obvious from reading all the posts. Even I personally have developed my own personal thoughts towards this race as time as gone by.
Based on my personal thoughts, I happen to think Gill has NO chance of winning the general just based on his past political baggage and affiliations.
The larger questions that needs to be asked is, does the nomination someone who has been a friend and may be more ideologically in line with committee leadership make sense given the idea he may be less electable in the General??
I think we will be seeing some of Gill’s so-called support diminishing in the coming days already starting with the Lt. Governors failure to attend his political rally that was canceled in the end due to a time conflict with another campaign. I would frankly be suprised to see the Lt. Governor appear any time soon up in PWC with Gill but we shall see.
To all my fellow republican friends, you have been doing a great job “trashing” faisal gill. This will help dems. to take this seat without any real strugle because faisal is going to win the republican convention and dems. will use the same allegations to defeat him. great job.
pwcman,
If Julie Lucas is the nominee, it wont much matter all the “trashing” that has been done on Faisal. Let’s not forget that Greg L. was not the first person to bring these issues to light. Michelle Malkin has written about Faisal as well and she is considered to be a credible source, especially on issues concerning national security.
Unfortunately Julie doesn’t stand a chance front of Faisal. He is gonnna win the nomination.
pwcman,
I beg to differ with you. Julie has a great chance to defeat Gill and I will gladly help her out.
My readers appear to differ — currently 88% of them support Julie Lucas in the current poll. Both Ben Tribbet and myself believe that Faisal would lose a general election against a generic Democrat, a possibility which would weigh heavily on convention delegates.
There’s some question right now as to whether Faisal will even make it to a convention, and how many of those who have endorsed him will continue to do so. The only thing Faisal currently has going for him is his determination and his checkbook, neither of which are deciding factors in a convention. His organization is the same one that ran the Steve Chapman campaign in the 50th District and spectacularly imploded, only with the addition of an ethnically monolithic set of campaign donors. Google his name, and the results that appear are uniformly negative. His strengths as a candidate are few, and his negatives will be very difficult to overcome.
Julie currently represents some precincts in the 51st, has name recognition as a current elected official, and has an experienced organization. She’s well regarded in Richmond and in the county. So far there don’t seem to be any negatives, and the positives are pretty significant.
On that basis, I’d say Julie stands an excellent chance against Faisal.
“”"To all my fellow republican friends, you have been doing a great job “trashing” faisal gill. This will help dems. to take this seat without any real strugle”"”
“”"dems. will use the same allegations to defeat him. great job.”"”
Anyone who believes the above should not seek to nominate Faisal Gill for HOD-51. Mr. Gill needs to address the very serious allegations that he was the chief lobbyist for Abdurahman Alamoudi’s American Muslim Council in 2001.
“I did nothing illegal” or “I still qualified for a security clearance” are legal matters which do not answer the question of Gill’s non-criminal culpability for Alamoudi’s extremist behavior.
Not all wrongful acts are illegal, and not all illegal acts result in denial of a security clearance. In fact, clearance investigators routinely overlook some within-the-past-decade illegal drug use. That is common knowledge.
What did Gill know about Alamoudi and when during the period of Gill’s AMC employment did Gill know it?
Pwcman,
Why would you vote for someone in a primary who stands absolutely no chance of winning a general in Nov?
To me this makes absolutely no sense.
It’s all about ideological purity, 10th DR, who cares if he has a chance at winning the general as long as he fits the mold of certain people. Kind of like my own Loudoun County, wouldn’t you say?
Greg L 88% of your users isn’t anywhere close to the 51st district. most of the people aren’t even in the district. So, what they think really has no bearing on the vote.
I never claimed that it was, but are there ANY other datapoints at the moment?
I wish there were a hundred votes on that one, all with IPs that trace to Occoquan. Alas, extensive survey data without expenditure is hard to come by.
Gills campaign parallels Chapmans campaign. No matter what Stevie did, his people followed blindly. Those same people are backing Gill and will stand behind him no matter what.
Isn’t that a good thing? To have loyal workers and supporters
As usual J. Young lets his mouth get in front the facts. Yes the Republican committee members voted for Republican of the Year when Chapman won it. However it was never announced who the vote counters were. At th end of the meeting Wooten took the ballots and we were informed of the tally later. In past years a counting committee was announced and they counted the ballots on the evening of the vote. Chicanery? Who knows? But it was not as transparent as it should have been. Many members were not of the opinion Chapman was of the sterling quality the so-called power brokers made him out to be, therefore his selection is questionable. Water over the damn, but don’t let the same crew snow you on Gill.
If Gill is the Republican nominee, I, as a life long Republican will vote for any democrat they put up…including Hillary.
“Isn’t that a good thing? To have loyal workers and supporters”
There are some very bad historical examples of people blindly following a bad leader. I can think of a couple in the 1940’s.
Yeah, CONVA, given your anonymity, your claim to be “a life long Republican” is worth the ether it is spewed on.
As to letting my “mouth [sic; actually, you probably meant my keyboard] get in front the facts,” I offered a “fact”: the results of an election, in response to Greg’s effort to make an issue of the fact that Mike Wooten presented the award. All you offer — like most of the tripe about Faisal here — is innuendo, without any “facts” whatsoever, and indeed, contrary to the established facts. You sound like a Democrat, mindlessly bitching and moaning about an election whose results you loathe, simply because you couldn’t win. It sounds a lot like you were there when the vote was taken and the votes were counted. Did you challenge the process? Suggest that it should be conducted in another way? I frankly don’t recall what happened, but I think I’d remember if someone had. Might’ve even agreed with them. But then again, I don’t think much of such votes. The vote appears to have been conducted the same way last night. Were you there? You certainly didn’t complain. No one did.
I understand Greg’s visceral hatred of Faisal, since his law firm might well be the instrument of a judgment against him. I suspect that you maintain your anonymity just so you can make obnoxious charges without responsibility, and because you are a tax advocate that Faisal’s work as a leader in fiscal responsibility puts to shame. As someone else has observed in another context, and while of limited utility, it’s analogous to a cuckolded husband’s response to the gigolo, embarrassed to having been shown up by another man who could apparently deliver the goods better than he. No “facts” there; just reasonable surmise.
“Faisal’s work as a leader in fiscal responsibility?” He is named chairman of the Taxpayer’s Alliance, and the organization appears to become defunct. I didn’t know we had to file Steve Chapman’s forms for the Republican convention. I didn’t know I had to bring the food to the labor day picnic. I didn’t know I had to get the web hosting company paid for the Taxpayer’s Alliance website. I didn’t know that attending meetings as a PWCRC vice chairman was important. Over and over again. It’s not leadership, it’s a demonstrated pattern of incompetence and utter laziness.
Oh, and there’s this new one: “I forgot to bring ANY campaign materials whatsoever to the PWCRC meeting last night.” It looked like a Julie Lucas rally at Stonewall Middle School. Faisal didn’t even show up on time and had to have someone else fill in for him.
What a buffoon.
” Faisal’s work as a leader in fiscal responsibility”
Honest question: What has he actually done in grassroots advocacy? I think this would be a question for both republican candidates. Would Mr. Gill have been in favor of the “transportation compromise?”
J. Young’s only claim to fame is that a millenium ago he was in the Young Republicans and supposedly assisted in writing the by-laws for the PWCRC. Yes I was at the meeting last night but left after one hour of B.S. by “Team Kopko” and some guy that is/was the Occoquan district chair.

I think its coming down to a jew(jonathan Mark) vs. a muslim, faisal. Its been going for centuries and i don’t think it will ever end. Poor christians are cuaght in between as usual.
Oh, that’s just perfect. I’m the stooge of a some jewish conspiracy now?
Boy, “CONVA,” you certainly know from whence you speak on the topic of letting one’s mouth (or keyboard) get in front the facts.
“Only claim to fame”? I’m not entirely sure that I have ANY “claim to fame,” or that having such a thing is something to be desired in today’s society, but I’m certainly not going to clutter up Greg’s comments with my resume, particularly since: (a) I’d hate to embarrass you; and (b) you wouldn’t respond in kind so that I could.
But you’re the one who doesn’t have his facts straight.
First, I was County YR CHAIRMAN from late 1992 through 1994, not merely “in the Young Republicans.” The Prince William County YRs was: (1) perenially Virginia’s best; (2) was recognized as the nation’s best YR club at the 1993 national YR convention; (3) during that time, raised more money — and had more members — than the County GOP Committee, including hosting a Spring fundraiser in 1994 that received coverage in the New York Times and on the Pacifica Radio Network. The sign we designed — “Clean House, Vote Republican,” on a faded flag background — was used by the Washington Post on its Sunday Magazine as the theme of the GOP takeover of Congress in the 1994 national elections. Also in those pre-Internet days, it was the YRs who actually did a monthly newsletter.
Second, I did not “supposedly assist[] in writing the by-laws for the PWCRC”; I was their primary author, and chairman of the committee tasked with putting them together. The County GOP Committee was kind enough to recognize those facts when it adopted them, back in the day.
Third, last night I left the meeting — which was supposed to start at 7 p.m. — at precisely nine o’clock, after TWO hours “of B.S. by ‘Team Kopko’ and some guy that is/was the Occoquan district chair.” I suspect even Greg will verify that point.
Two hour meetings in Feb??? Why in the world could a country committee need to take two hrs of meetings in Feb with elections so far off? Are all the meetings over there that long?

The above statement is incorrect because it ascribes to me a significance which I do not possess. But if in an alternate universe it turned out to be the case then whoever the Dems nominated would benefit from it. (Christians are a large majority of voters, and the poster complains about their status as a result of Faisal and Jonathan.)
So the above quote is one more reason why Gill’s lobbying for the imprisoned Abdurahman Alamoudi’s American Muslim Council makes him a loser.
As to why a few want to nominate a loser, I can only agree with the person above that the Cooches and the Bollings, if they are still on board, have an agenda. Bolling’s agenda is that Gill gave him $13,000, an impressive amount for a young attorney with a new, small no-name law firm and four kids to support.
Cooch has his own $15,000 from the Safa Group, which Cooch will not return. Cooch will not even acknowledge Alamoudi’s participation in Safa Group activities. When the feds raided Safa offices in March 2002 they found in Safa’s Falls Church office evidence showing that Alamoudi had illegally travelled to Libya and had known that such travel was illegal.
With all due respect, of all the dumbass things that people could do nominating Faisal Gill would be the dumbest of them all. Those handful of Gill supporters would have given the HOD-51 seat to the Dems, including Brian Moran the Dem caucus leader.
I have no desire to see the Moran brothers more powerful than they are now. So to James Young and the others who refuse to repudiate Gill please do so now. You are playing into the hands of the Moran brothers and the Democratic Party. You are doing what the Moran brothers want you to do by pushing an unelectable Republican candidate.
I confess to asking the same question, 10thdistrictrepublican, though in fairness, it is worth noting that there were quite a few candidate announcements, which is certainly properly on the agenda. However, I had a 20-mile drive to go home, and there was nothing controversial on the agenda after I left.
“Oh, that’s just perfect. I’m the stooge of a some jewish conspiracy now?”
You are worse. You are an infidel who has attacked and mocked one of the faithful, the 5th Imam of PWC! You the tool of the Zionists will cry out for mercy when the Ayatolla Jadmeini comes for you! You will call for deliverance in the face of Ibin-Fallad-Al-Chapman! You will feel the pain of the wrath of Caliph-Suliman-Kopko the great! No 80 virgins and e-paradise for you!

Dabba Doo, you are known as one of Faisal Gill’s most energetic online supporters.
I am concerned that you will issue a fatwa against those of us who resist the rise of the former chief lobbyist for Abdurahman Alamoudi’s AMC. Is there any danger of that or am I just worrying about nothing?
Jonathan Mark, you are the dog of the infidel, Greg L. The e-fatwa covers all of Greg L’s beasts, his goats, his sheep, his camels, and YES, his dog. You should be worried, as Ibin-Fallad-Al-Chapman has a special way of dealing with dogs, as demonstrated by his staged death of his own dog Nixon. Ibin-Fallad-Al-Chapman, defender of the faithful ,named his dog after the supporter of Zion, Richard Nixon, and the dog was dispatched in retribution for Nixon’s aid to Israel in 1973.
You will be sorry that you insulted our candidate Gill, the faithful.

My understanding is that Ibin-Fallad-Al-Chapman is a 28-year-old high school graduate. Does he have knowledge of Richard Nixon O wise one?
