Your Chance To Fight For HB 2937

By Greg L | 8 February 2007 | Illegal Aliens, Virginia Senate | 5 Comments

Delegate Jackson Miller’s bill (HB 2937) to prevent state funding in support of illegal aliens has now moved to a Senate committee, and it looks like it’ll be a tough fight there. Supporters of the bill are asking for citizens to help get this through the committee, and I hope BVBL readers will help in laying on the pressure. Here’s what he’s asking:

If you have five minutes of free time today during regular business hours, I would appreciate your help with a pressing legislative matter in the General Assembly.

Delegate Jackson Miller (50-VA) has passed HB 2937, a bill to restrict state funding to organizations who knowingly and willingly circumvent the law to aide illegal aliens, in the House of Delegates and now will be heard in the Senate. Tomorrow morning the Committee on Rehabilitation and Social Services will hear the Bill and vote for passage to put the Bill on the Senate floor. We are aware that 7 Democrats will vote “no” on this Bill in Committee, 3 Republicans will vote “yes” and 5 are undecided. WE NEED ALL 5 OF THOSE SENATORS TO VOTE YES - Otherwise your tax dollars will continue to aide persons without legal presence here in Virginia.

If you care about the great Commonwealth of Virginia (or attended school here) and want to help maintain the high-quality of life of our residents, then please contact these Senators by phone and demand that they vote in favor of H.B. 2937 to stop your tax dollars from supporting day labor work centers and other organizations that use YOUR money to aide those engaged in illegal behavior!

Senator Hanger 804-698-7524 (email district24@sov.state.va.us)
Senator Williams 804-698-7501 (email district01@sov.state.va.us)
Senator Wagner 804-698-7507 (email district07@sov.state.va.us)
Senator D. Davis 804-698-7534 (email district34@sov.state.va.us)
Senator Herring 804-698-7533 (email district33@sov.state.va.us)

You can make a difference in this vote and you will make a difference in the future of the great Commonwealth of Virginia!

Thank You

Let’s put on the heat!

Greg do these people have email? I’m at work and can’t call. I also have a meeting right after work. I really want to let them know Americans are tired of paying for illegal aliens!

Also that they need to do what their constituents want them to do or they won’t have a job much longer.

I added the emails, but it’s way more effective to pick up the phone. Only email if you can’t make a call.

Greg, the bill will be killed. Trust me. Not only does the Senate not like this type of thing, but it has some wording problems that might come to light during the debate.
