Apparently I’m supposed to believe that Nigerian senators use hotmail accounts and Brazillian email servers in their never-ending quest to enrich the world with the money squirreled away by now-dead dictators and kleptocrats.

Does anyone actually fall for this obvious crap?

I get these types of emails all the time…some alledgedly from Nigeria, others alledgedly from South Africa, Liberia, the UK, Australia, all over. I used to print them and fax them to the FBI (which is requested on their site). That got to be too annoying, so I’ve just been sending them off to AOL Spam and let them deal with it…if they actually do, which I doubt.

It’s sad, but a lot of people do fall for this kind of scam the. This scam was recently in the paper with a warning not to fall for it.

    Senor Cheney,
Secret Service have primary jusidiction over this type of wire fraud. FBI laugh at you. FBI like to chase for “computer intrusion”. Very Confusing in my new country, Federales have many different rules.

Senor Zorro, the FBI has an entire division working with Interpol to track down these people internationally. Go to their site.

    Senor Cheney,
I agree FBI has concurrent jurisdiction over almost all Federale Violations, except Tax (IRS). Especial “tax” grand jury needed for investigation. But FBI has list of priorities cases. Terror No.1 ;Espionaje No.2. Everything else “also ran”. I have seen many sites. If FBI does not have priority interest they assign few assets. Site “looks good”, no assets. Secret Service priority “protection valuable people” No.1; wire fraud schemes No.2. We both correct. When Secret Service investigate wire fraud and election come, they run away to protect “valuable people”. Leave everyone hanging. If you are having trouble with Federales, try POSTAL Investigaciones they have concurrent jurisdiction on wire fraud and are good amigos.

Well Senor Zorro, I’m not foolish enough to fall for one of these emails so it’s not really at the top of my list of priorities. As you may have noticed, I have some more immediate, and relatively critical, activities on my plate…but thanks for the concern.
