Tandredo’s Stunning CPAC Speech
By Greg L | 2 March 2007 | Illegal Aliens | 9 Comments
I spent today at the CPAC conference in DC and had the opportunity to talk to a lot of great conservatives, and hear some tremendous speeches by Republican presidential candidates. Although having the chance to talk with Michelle Malkin for a few minutes was a real pleasure (can you guess what story of mine she’s interested in?), the highlight of the day for me definitely was the speech given by Tom Tancredo. It was one of the best speeches I think I’ve ever heard.
After his introduction by Frank Beard of the American Conservative Student Union, Tom addressed a filled-to-capacity room about the danger of diluting the true power of the conservative philisophy, abortion, and controlling our borders. Normally I would refrain from posting a complete audio of a speech, as it’s a huge bandwidth hog, but I feelit’s important for Americans to hear this speech which so elegantly conveys the core of our principles and the critical importance of resolutely facing the challenges before us. If you’re not completely satisfied with the choices you think you have among the contenders for President, after listening to this you might be.
This has an important local significance that should not be overlooked. All of our efforts to control the effects of illegal immigration will be for naught if our national leadership is amenable to removing any and all consequences for aliens who break the law when coming into this country. Show those who have not yet come that there are no consequences for breaking the law, and the current deluge of illegals will truly become an overwhelming tidal wave. We must have responsible national leadership on this issue, which is every bit as critical to the survival of our nation as our war against terrorism and radical islam. If the effects of illegal immigration are your most important local issue, effectively controlling our borders must be your number one national issue as well.

I wish that the media would give Tom a chance to be truly heard and stop focusing on just the McCain-Guilini-Romney horse race.

You start focusing on Tom and/or Sam Brownback or Mike Pence or whoever we agree is going to be the conservative in the race and the media will follow.
Conservatives concern themselves too much with the media and not enough with mobilizing the true believers for the true believers. Again and again I find us mobilizing the true believers for Bush, daddy or son, or any of a number of questionable candidates who believe because they are a self described Republican, that they are conservative, see Davis, Tom, see Devolites-Davis, Jeannemarie, see Gilmore, Jim, etc. etc. etc.
We are our own worst enemy, not the media, because we settle for candidates who don’t hold the line on taxes, find loopholes for abortion on demand, and allow the further destruction of our culture through allowances for the homosexual movement.
I agree, Marcus, however….I fear that our country is already so overwhelmed with liberalism, to include the far left and the moderates, and those too dumb to know what they are, that a true conservative would have little chance in November. Everytime you turn around, we hear of more and more idiocy…resolutions to prohibit parental spanking of children, in-state tuition for illegal aliens, prohibition of the term “illegal alien,” apologies for what our ancestors did, open borders, national health care, $400/month for the homeless, take from the rich and give to the poor….it just goes on and on.
I fear that so many are so mesmerized by the concept that the government should and will take care of us, and so fearful of being branded racist and uncaring for the poor that they would not support/elect a true conservative. We saw it with the nomination of Barry Goldwater, years ago….and I think the mentality has worsened toward socialistic liberalism.
George W. is not a true conservative as many of us thought…but he is certainly better than the alternative. Don’t you think it more appropriate to compromise (I hate that word too) to win? I wish I could feel that wasn’t true….:(

Michelle Malkin in 2004 wrote a great article “Who Is Faisal Gill” that really put the issue of Faisal’s lobbying for the American Muslim Council on the map.
I have long said that if the PWCRC is foolhardy enough to nominate Gill then Michelle Malkin, Frank J. Gaffney, Daniel Pipes and others who have complained about Gill will do so again.
Unlike BVBL and lesser blogs, Malkin, Pipes et al have national audiences. So let some reckless PWCRC people nominate Gill, and let the ritual, nationwide humiliation of Gill and his endorsers, such as Bolling and Cooch, begin!
Gill will wish he was in jail with his former boss Abdurahman Alamoudi before this is all over. Bolling and Cooch will wish he was there too.
But for the PWCRC honchos like Stewart who are backing Gill, listen, there’s still time to change the road you’re on.
Are any of you familiar with these folks?

This guy has delivered some eye popping stuff regarding the compound there. Take a look at it.
BTW, Great work, Greg.

Holy $h_t….Batman!!!!….And we been comlpainin’ about our illegal alien problem?
Hal’s post is a must read for every American. Be sure to read all of the hyper-links. Where the hell is the VCDL when you need ‘em?
Out of curiousity, what other announced candidates for the GOP nod (outside Tancredo and the Big 3-you know, Rudy McRomney) spoke at CPAC?
Did Faisal or Julie make the scene? What about Faisal’s sell-out jihadist-enabling patron, that punk Grover Norquist?
An investigator who had his office in the same Tampa office building as Norquist says that one time he saw the now-imprisoned Islamic Jihad terrorist Sami Al-Arian leaving Norquist’s office.
The investigator got on the same elevator as another Norquist visitor who he knew by name. The investigator emarked, say, wasn’t that Sami Al-Arian I just saw leaving the office? The other Norquist visitor said “I don’t think so. No.”
But it was Al-Arian. The disgraced USF professor Al-Arian is finishing out an 8-year federal prison sentence following his conviction of performing illegal services for Islamic Jihad.
WHAT WAS HE DOING IN GROVER NORQUIST’S OFFICE????
The anti-jihadist chickens are coming home to roost on the heads of Norquist, Gill and others.
If Bill Bolling, Corey Stewart and Cooch think that 2007 is a good year for them to be endorsing Gill, who is the former chief lobbyist for Alamoudi, well, they should think again.
Because I say that 2007 is not a good year for that unholy trio of voluntary dhimmitude to be endorsing Gill. And at the end of the day, there are more than enough people who see Gill the way that BVBL, Michelle Malkin, Frank J. Gaffney, Daniel Pipes and I do to severely harm Bolling and Cooch.
There may still be time for those guys to change the road they’re on. But they need to communicate to Gill as a group and tell them that they are jointly pulling out of Gill’s campaign. They need to request that Gill remove their names from Gill’s already short (and getting shorter!) list of endorsers.
If Bolling, Stewart and Cooch refuse then we will all draw the appropriate conclusions, and some of us opponents of jihad have long memories.
“What about Faisal’s sell-out jihadist-enabling patron, that punk Grover Norquist?”
…speaking of those who want to be conservatives but just can’t bring themselves to be conservatives. I guess it’s a little like high school…wanting to be coo or the start quarterbackl, doesn’t make it so.
