Gays Out Early For Roemmelt

Bruce Roemmelt seems to be taking a page out of Jeanette Rishell’s playbook from last year by holding the first public fundraiser of his campaign with the Virginia Partisans Gay & Lesbian Democratic Club. That this gay marriage advocate would be well liked by the Virginia Partisans is not at all surprising, but for him to so closely associate his campaign with an organization such as this seems to throw his far-left agenda right in the face of voters in the 13th District and is either a significant early misstep for his campaign, or a prelude to a warts-and-all honest promotion of his rather unusual agenda.
Bruce had an active role in the campaign of fellow BRUU socialist Jeanette Rishell last year, so it’s possible that instead of borrowing from Rishell’s discredited playbook it’s a case of “Team Roemmelt” having simply lent it’s campaign plan to Rishell previously. If that’s the case this should be an amusing campaign season in the 13th District with Roemmelt unapologetically promoting the agenda of the fringe left against Delegate Bob Marshall’s unapologeticallty conservative record. How long Roemmelt continues to take point as the poster boy for the communist wing of the Prince William County Democratic Committee will likely depend on how soon he starts to poll the district. As soon as the reality of how unpopular this platform is, he may try to exchange his convictions with empty platitudes in order to soften up his image as we saw from Rishell last year.
Or perhaps we can count on Roemmelt’s pugnacious temperment to keep him honest about his agenda. I can at least respect someone who will go down fighting for an unpopular cause, even if that cause is inane, and Roemmelt has at least been worthy of respect in that regard in the past. With his early embrace of the local homosexual community, we may be treated to this amusing, yet honorable approach this year.
I’d like that.
UPDATE: The endorsement letter has been published over at The Virginia Progressive, and this quote from the letter just about sums up how the gay marriage advicates view Bruce Roemmelt: “we could hope for no greater friend than Bruce Roemmelt.” That is exactly the point.

Is that a photo of Uncle Fester from the Addams Family? You older people will remember him. I haven’t seen him in years. He looks great!
Well, golly gosh, I guess you’re saying he should keep any gay supporters in the closet?
There’s quite a difference between “closeting” your supporters, and putting them out front-and-center on your campaign. How would democrats react if a republican candidate had his first fundraiser with a group like “Operation Rescue”? Would they be dismissive of any significance, or is it more likely that there would be a huge outcry that a candidate was being foisted on the electorate by a bunch of abortion protestors?
Greg, your logic is right on, but of course the libs will never see it that way. You’re obviously not “enlightened”.
