More Inanity In Loudoun County
By Greg L | 23 March 2007 | Loudoun County | 16 Comments
Tenth District Chairman Jim Rich desperately needs to dissolve the Loudoun County Republican Committee and have it rebuilt from the ground up, as what continues to happen there is a tragic embarrassment. Lori Waters, who is being smeared as some sort of RINO used to work for Phyllis Schlafly, for crying out loud, and would be considered the uber-conservative candidate in any other jurisdiction in Virginia. But she’s a “liberal candidate” according to Delgaudio?
Degaudio’s statements sound disturbingly similar to those of “Baghdad Bob”. This man is insane, and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a political leadership position. Enough is enough.
UPDATE: It looks like the call may have gotten shot down by the Republican Party Of Virginia.

Your blog is pretty good in a lot of ways, but before you swallow the desperate pants-wetting on tooconservative, think back to when you published the number of names TC was using to pretend he was the hottest blog in town. Loudoun Insider and his angry little band (who apparently have NOTHING to do but robopost under a variety of IDs themselves–which should tell you something) are campaigning and nothing more. Lori Waters was only too happy to be the shining true conservative angel when it would get her elected the first time. Within a few short weeks she was busy getting press at property rights conventions as the singlehanded leader of the fight against smart growth in Loudoun. All by her little self! She was evil incarnate to the TC “insiders” when that was happening. But then she got courted and her ego stroked by the big estate money, and all of a sudden she quit Eagle Forum and started talking about the (nonexistent) rural economy. Most of her support is from outside of her district from the people who don’t PAY taxes, and that’s the bile you’re hearing over at Too Fake Loudoun Conservative. So she didn’t get enough delegates in Broad Run? Obviously then the convention must be stopped: half a dozen people who can’t vote for her all say so! This is just the opening round of elections in Loudoun, and so far it is a lot tamer than either 99 or 95. The politics are always vicious here, and tooconservative is throwing the ****bombs that are Ole Boy Loudoun business as usual.
More spin from the good old boy network here in Loudoun County. Go pow-wow with Eugene, the Shockeys, Dale Polen Myers, and Steve Snow. Stop being so bitter, and don’t even pretend to know what goes on at TC. We’ll see who is right in November. Do you think Eugene and the rest of these bozos will do better or worse than the 38% Mick Staton did against Mark “The Carpetbagger” Herring? I’m hoping RPV will do some independent polling in Loudoun County as has been suggested, and let’s see who is the most popular Republican supervisor in the county. Lori Waters wins that poll very easily. You moronic “property rights” idiots will all be sitting around election night wondering “WTF happened?” Learn a few lessons from Corey Stewart in PWC and get a grip that your out of control development agenda is morally and fiscally bankrupt. I still find it pretty amazing that all these folks who say TC is BS keep coming back again and again, and it is the portal for Loudoun info at the county office building. Keep bitching.
Lori is about as conservative as you get and has proved it in both her work life and political activities. We’ve endorsed her at Virginia Virtucon and have included her as one of the candidates in our “Red Storm Virginia” project.
Nobody to speak of seems to be at your blog but you and the other angry “insiders”. What a cranky little bunch! That’s why you get so much traffic, right? LOL
I think your jaundice has gotten to your brain. Cranky and angry? That’s what happens when you have “leaders” who lack moral and ethical standards. We get plenty of traffic, especially from the county building. Check the comments - plenty of commenters with different perspectives. Are there regulars? Of course, that’s the way it is with every blog. Get with the program.
Excuse me Jaundiced Observer (any relation to Yellow Dog?), but the readership at TC is quite extensive, in and out of Loudoun. I’ve commented on that blog ever since Vince conceived it, about two years ago, and I live in Prince William. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen your moniker commenting over there in all that time.
Well jaundiced, in case there’s not sufficient traffic over at TC, I can assure you there’s plenty here. Of all of the republican virginia blogs that provide visitor statistics, I am currently at the top of the traffic rankings. So if LI hasn’t gotten the word out sufficiently (which I doubt), I’ll give him some help to get it out now.
As far as what happened in the past, or what other posters on TC have done, that is entirely irrelevant. What is relevant here is that the LCRC is a complete disgrace, it’s devotion to pro-growth policies is a recipe for certain political irrelevance, and it’s run by folks who over the past months who have convinced me that they are quite likely clinically insane.
I do not agree with all of the criticisms regarding what’s going on over there. I see no problem with having a convention at a church, although I have to wonder what kind of church would permit it’s facilities to be used in such a manner inconsistent with saving souls and spreading the hope of salvation. I’m not convinced there’s a problem with a huge number of potential delegates filing for a mass meeting, although I’m confused at how the limit on the number of delegates could be set so low. I’m not buying into all of the criticisms, but I am convinced that many of them are absolutely on the mark.
Apparently I’m not alone, since it looks like the Federal Bureau of Investigation seems to be keeping pretty busy turning over rocks in Loudoun. I’m pretty sure folks are going to jail before this is all done. In the meantime, the lunatics are running the asylum, and while I would agree with Delgaudio and his folks on more issue positions than I wouldn’t, the way they act is just bizarre beyond comprehension.
Either we clean up this mess, or the Democrats will, or eventually the FBI will. Your choice.
Sure you have seen Jaundiced Observer at Tooconservative.
Ironically, she’s posted as Stephanie Smith AND ChooseReason, and a couple of other psuedos. It’s the same old song over and over. She get’s her numbers incorrect, her facts are created on the fly, and when she’s called on it, suddenly we’re the bastards in the conversation for not allowing her to make s###up.
She then comforts herself by accusing other people pf doing the same thing.
The portal known as Tooconservative.com must be getting very close to the truth to be such a bother to those to whom the fog and mirrors of politics is how they keep their rank and file in line. Their philosophy is: the thicker the fog around issues, the better.
Tooconservative cuts away at layers of that fog and shines a 6,000,000,000 candlepower light on the truth , which if you happen to be one who needs cover of darkness for your operations….must be highly irritating.
So far, we’ve seen Mr. ED and Jack Ryan… both pawns of the developer-endorsed (don’t fool yourself about the amounts of money that they threw at the race last election) contingent as the loudest objections to free speech at Tooconservative. That’s very telling. VERY telling.
Please notice that I sign my belief …
Greg, I forgot to mention that I personally appreciate your efforts to get this word out to the rank and file so that they have both sides thrust before them and can analyze exactly where they want to be using ALL of the facts available.
Greg, thanks for the mention and link, and I’m glad you see what really is going on. Of course I don’t expect you to agree with all of my criticisms, but I will address your two doubtful issues.
The whole church venue was not presented as a choice to the membership - it was presented as a done deal. The LCRC “leadership” were also proven to be liars in regard to the availibility of school sites by the Logistics Chair of the committee, who wasn’t involved at all in the site selection process (that is logistics is it not?). School sites were available. It is one thing to present the church as an option, but another altogether to lie to the membership (an all too common occurrence) and say it was the only site available. Also, I would be very worried about my tax-exempt status if I were the church - I’ve heard people are asking for an investigation.
The number of delegates is an interesting issue indeed. What is the theme of the LCRC? Limit participation as much as possible so the inmates can rule the asylum. Of course the delegate counts were set low with no option for proportional voting. My biggest problem with all of this? They have yet to write the frigging rules for how the mass meetings to select the “worthy” delegates will be conducted! That’s right - make it up as you go along to favor your “chosen” candidates.
Dale Polen Myers, the primary target of the FBI investigation and known hater of Lori Waters, was present at a recent meeting to determine these rules, representing Supervisor Steve Snow. Guess who squawked the loudest when someone wanted to audiotape the meeting? DPM. She also caused a huge scene a couple months ago after she had been improperly participating in Excecutive Committee meetings making up all these rules. When finally confronted about it in public, she threw a temper tantrum screaming in Lori Water’s face. This committee is an absolute cesspool.
Is there anyway to print the letter from RPV? What specifically did the Loudoun County Call not include? Rumor has it that it’s because they didn’t meet the criteria of having four meetings a year, and they didn’t use the word “notice” in the Call.
Party Plan says Units have to meet at least four times a year. Supposedly Loudoun didn’t have a quorum at all four meetings even though they met four times. If that’s the case there are other Units that fall under that same category. Are we going to begin dissolving Units if they don’t have quorums when they meet quarterly?
I hear the word “notice” wasn’t used in the heading of the official call. If this is true it seems very picky. In my years as a Unit officer I’ve not seen RPV get involved in something that picky.
I am learning about this whole situation from the blogs and am trying to figure it out by calling friends in various areas of the state. As a State Central Committee member I’m very surprised this issue didn’t come up at our meeting two days ago in Richmond. I’m not taking sides; just trying to gather facts. It would be nice if Ed Gillespie would explain the situation so other Units know what’s going on so they won’t make the same mistake. To see the contents of the letter would be of help.
SWAC Girl, the following is a portion of a comment posted at Too Conservative by “Green Elephant” (comment #7) in the posting by Loudoun Insider,“LCRC CONVENTION CALL RULED INVALID BY RPV!”:
“Memorandum from John Padgett, General Counsel to
Ed Gillespie, Chairman of RPV
Conclusion:
5. The “call for a 2007 Convention of the Loudoun County Republican Party” is not in compliance with several portions of Article I, Sections A and B, and Article VIII, Section H of the Party Plan.”
This was obviously a quote from a longer document and intended as an issue to BE PRESENTED to the State Central Committee. How it might have come to be circulated, I have no idea. I expect, however, that you, as a member of the State Central Committee, should be receiving the unedited version at some point in the future, for it would appear that it will become an issue to be addressed ASAP…or the LCRC may be unable to field any legitimate candidates whatsoever.
SWAC Girl…
I had the specifics (but not the document itself) in a mere 6 hours.
Whoa! Go away for a few days and see what happens!
Good for you SWAC Girl, and keep asking those questions. Don’t ask them of any of the self-proclaimed “insiders” from Loudoun though. Their big tent, as evidenced by the transferred feeding frenzy here (now that this blog has recredentialed them), consists of calling anyone who disagrees with them either one of five Satans or hopelessly out of the loop. (BTW I am neither ChooseReason nor Smith, nor DPM, nor etc)
I hear Lori Waters made not one but two trips to Richmond last week to stomp and cry. Looks like it worked. That won’t get out in the press though, where she has been silent while allowing her out of district attack dog to be the front man.
The resume for Ms. Waters is out of date if you are going on the fact that she once worked for Eagle Forum. Bid deal. She doesn’t anymore. Just another one of the things she used to do on her way to wherever she thinks the top is.
A big issue for you is immigration? Ask Mr. Settle what he’s doing on the Loudoun Democrat Committee blog asking the two guys who are also the Loudoun Gay Rights bloggers to work with him on getting a “sweet deal” for Catoctin. These two Dems were front and center over in Herndon way far from home on behalf of the work center that ended up reshaping the Herndon Town Council.
Yeah I read a lot of the blogs. It doesn’t seem worth it to comment though, and I doubt I’ll be back here. They are mostly little closed societies enabled by the internet, and they seem to like being closed. Loudoun is a mess and it always has been politically. People who have lived here for years don’t know all of what goes on, even though the “insiders” say they do! Give them a forum if you want, but you may not be helping either Republicans or the county by doing so.
SWAC Girl, keep on asking. You’ve got some darn good questions there.
Jaundiced obviously hasn’t seen this decision either. I have and there is plenty of substance. The biggest issue of substance to all of this is the fact that the “leadership” of the LCRC has said before the committee and in the press over and over that the call was vetted by RPV. That’s obviously not true and yet another lie from these people. Keep bitching.
Obviously, someone else goes to the Democratic Blog as well.
And if the Republicans won’t help the decent folks they represent, then it’s time to find help where it exist in removing the offending jackasses, and voting new blood into the Party.
I am very much a Conservative and have been one for 25 years. Never missed an election, never voted for a democrat. The five non-repentant republicans on Loudoun’s BOS are like a black eye to the GOP that I’ve served my whole adult life. That offends me, and also motivates me to rid the Party of them and all who suport their crooked ways.
Those Republicans who do it the “right way”, and adhere to the ethical expectations of the voters deserve to rule the Party.
Lori is one of those. Lori probably doesn’t have time to serve Loudoun AND the Eagle Forum.
She does, however, have time to debate Jack Ryan on the issues. Imagine announcing a debate with a room full of voters arriving , Lori arriving…but no Lil Jack Ryan. Imagine how powerful that will go off…
If Jack knew half as much about the issues and concerns in the District and made it his plan to discuss them, instead of an unhealthy fixation on Lori…he’d be more electable. I personally have seen two outright lies (things that I know to be untrue and can prove) by the man in print.
