Once Lucy decided to go the Republican route and not run as an independent she is obligated to support her opponent if she loses the convention. That was her choice, but many thought she would have a better chance to forgo the republican route and run as an independent. She has won two county wide elections and we still feel she would have better off as an independent. Be that as it may, we will be at the convention and vote for her.

Greg, a correction: Lucy Beauchamp has NEVER “enjoyed a Republican endorsement as a means of supporting her candidacy.” She couldn’t even obtain it when unopposed for it.

As for “NoVA Scout’s” comments, he would be well-advised to compare the record of the PWC GOP as compared to other Republican units farther to the north. The notion that Lucy Beauchamp is “a strong Republican candidate,” or much of a Republican at all, boggles the imagination.

CONVA, let me get this straight. Are you suggesting that a member of the Republican committee, who has signed a pledge that they will support Republican candidates and agree with the principles of the Republican party, and who has previously enjoyed a Republican endorsement as a means of supporting her candidacy, would be well advised to summarily dismiss her commitment by running as an independent?

I just want to make sure I understand what you’re saying here.

I’m sure the local Republicans can cooperate to ensure the defeat of a strong Republican candidate. But they really ought to find something else to do.

If Jim’s explanations are true, it’s the first time, to my knowledge, that she’s ever lifted a finger to help another Republican.

And CONVA, that’s certainly a nice, pre-emptive attempt to discredit any nomination process in which Michele comes out on top. I seem to recall the same kind of claptrap with regard to Corey Stewart … mostly from people for whom “CON” does NOT signify a shorthand for “conservative.”

A few of us tried to get Lucy to run as an independent and stay away from the Kopko cabal, but she opted to run as a republican. I am sure the cabal will load the convention to ensure McQuigg’s selection to carry out their end of the deal that was hatched about 18 months ago. Of course Lucy has the opportunity to do the same and with Caddigan’s help she may pull it off. If the seance at the old court house is any indication of the difference between the two, Lucy is heads and shoulders above McQuigg in demeanor and polish. As usual McQuigg had to have someone type up her talking points which she referred to repeatedly whereas Lucy went through the process without notes.

She may have just been gathering delegate sign up sheets for the convention and therein lies the confusion. She was at Caddigan’s fundraiser going around with convention delegate sign up sheets trying to get people to attend and support her.
