		<description>A militia only seems absurd since this country hasn't been invaded by an organized military force since 1814, not counting Pancho Villa and other minor guerilla incursions in the 1840's.  If it appeared that there was a reasonable threat of our homeland being invaded in some form by some sort of organized force, you'd see the militia statutes be the talk of the town, and veterans and patriotic Americans forming up into units in no time.

Just recognize how lucky we are that some might see state militia laws as nothing more than quaint.  Also that the conditions that make us so fat and happy are not at all guaranteed to exist in perpetuity.</description>

		<description>I like the part about not having a standing army in times of peace.  :P

But really, while I think the idea of a militia is kind of absurd today, who know what things will be like in 50 years?  I don't feel the need to own a gun, but it's nice to know I have the option just in case.</description>
