Chuck Colgan: Default Democrat

Here’s a real solid reason to re-elect Chuck Colgan: Democrats couldn’t find anyone else to run on the ticket, and Hal Parrish couldn’t be convinced to run for the seat, presumably as an independent. So is this campaign going to run under the slogan “Chuck Colgan: because we couldn’t find anyone else.”? From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:
Colgan, 80, the longest-serving member of the Senate, had been considering retirement from the seat he first won in 1975, but said that Democrats could not find another candidate.
He said he encouraged Manassas Vice Mayor Harry J. “Hal” Parrish II to run. Parrish is the son of one Colgan’s closest friends, the late Republican Del. Harry J. Parrish.
I guess Gary Friedman doesn’t count.
