Who Is Afraid Of Faisal Gill?

By Greg L | 6 April 2007 | 51st HOD District | 10 Comments

Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling distributes his public schedule to those on the mailing list for his press releases, and I noticed something interesting in today’s update:

Wednesday, April 11, 2007

6:00 PM
Campaign Kickoff for Delegate Anne B. Crockett-Stark
Ocean Bay Restaurant
1505 E Main Street
Wytheville, VA

Lieutenant Governor Bolling will attend Delegate Crockett-Stark’s campaign kickoff announcement.

On March 31st, the day of Faisal Gill’s campaign kickoff, here is the entire public schedule for the Lieutenant Governor:

Saturday, March 31, 2007

5:30 PM
College Republican Federation of Virginia Spring Conference
University of Richmond
Jepson Hall
Richmond, VA

Lieutenant Governor Bolling will speak to attendees at their annual spring conference.

At first, I just thought that perhaps campaign kickoff events weren’t included on the schedule for some reason.  It appears that they are generally included, or at least some of them are.

Fascinating.  I guess five figure campaign donations don’t buy what they used to.

Sometime BVBL contributor Charles was there and wrote the following on his own blog.

“”"Bill Bolling noted the impressive size of the crowd, and congratulated Faisal for getting so many people out for his kickoff…

Then he endorsed Faisal. He said why he felt so strongly about Faisal. “”"
I guess Bill didn’t “feel strongly” enough about Faisal to put the endorsement on his schedule. How hypocritical is that? When speaking to a pro-Faisal audience Bolling is gushing over the former chief lobbyist for the American Muslim Council. But when posting to the general public Bolling hides his endorsement.

“”"He noted that Faisal is not a politician, but is a family man.”"”

Faisal Gill was the chief lobbyist for the American Muslim Council in the aftermath of 9-11. To show how extreme this group was at the time, it instructed Moslems not to talk to the FBI.

“”"We need people who understand the pressure that families are under,”"”

We also need people who understand the pressure that victims of terrorism are under, and only lobby for organizations that encourage cooperation with the FBI, not those which instruct Moslems not to talk to the FBI.

    “”"good schools,”"”

Faisal sends his kids to private school.

    “”" safe streets,”"”

Our streets are even safer now that Faisal’s former employer/client, Abdurahman Alamoudi (the founder and leader of the AMC) is serving a 23-year federal sentence for laundering Libyan money.

“”" and low taxes - and Faisal understands those concerns.”"”

The cost of fighting terror, and therefore our taxes, goes up when Faisal lobbies for groups that tell Moslems not to talk to the FBI.

    “”"He called Faisal a Patriot,”"”

Faisal wasn’t very patriotic when he worked as the chief lobbyist for the American Muslim Council, an organization founded, financed, and led by a convicted terrorist.

“”"noting his service both in the Navy and in the department of Homeland Security. He notes that Faisal can reach out to different parts of our community, different ethnic groups,”"”

Is that’s what this is about? Reaching out? But it is up to those we reach out towards to reject terror and terrorist sympathizers. Faisal did not do so when he worked for or on behalf of Alamoudi.

“”"but he is first and foremost a patriot and an American.”"”

Faisal Gill wasn’t very patriotic when he was the chief lobbyist for Alamoudi’s American Muslim Council. Anyone can wave a flag. We need to judge people by their actions. What were Faisal’s actions at the AMC in 2001?

“”"He told us Faisal Gill is a true-blue conservative, the kind we need in Richmond. Calling Faisal a fiscal conservative, Bill said Gill understands the need to keep government small and focused, to keep taxes low, and to create a pro-business environment. Faisal understands the importance of individual rights. Bill also called Faisal a social conservative, who is pro-life, and pro-2nd-amendment.

But most importantly, Bill Bolling said Faisal Gill was his friend. He spoke of how Faisal stood by him during his campaign, noting there were only a few people who were with him from the beginning, and Faisal was one of his strongest allies. All the endorsers made this same comment about their friendship with Gill and his hardworking commitment to them when they needed him. “”"

So that’s what this is about. Gill “stood by” Bolling with $14,000 in contributions, so Bolling returns the favor.

If Bolling cashed Gill’s checks but did nothing for him now then other lobbyists besides Gill might stop giving. They would be afraid that Bolling would stiff them also.

The Bolling people do know about the controversy with Faisall.

I think they are just trying to gloss over it and hopes it goes away.

I think it will get bigger as we get closer to the election.

Well, you can’ t ignore $13K, but you can hope that no one notices that you’re paying off that chit.

Maybe Mr. Gill could give a greater explanation of his role with the American Muslim Council.

Did Faisal Gill facilitate the Saudi Safa Group’s $15,000 in contributions to Ken Cuccinelli?

Are these Safa contributions the support which Cuccinelli claims that he has received from Gill?

I wish to share with your readers something very strange about Ken Cuccinelli’s endorsement of Faisal Gill.

twoconservatives.blogspot.com says that at Faisal Gill’s 3/31/07 kickoff: “Ken Cuccinelli spoke next, He told of how Faisal worked tirelessly to help Ken win his election, crediting Faisal for his victory.”

I just visited VPAP.org and reviewed Ken Cuccinelli’s campaign contributions. Gill, who gave $13,000 to Bill Bolling, has never given a red cent to Cuccinelli.

So why does Cuccinelli give Faisal credit for his victory? One might argue that Faisal was a tireless volunteer who couldn’t be arsed to give any money. That is hard to believe. I have volunteered extensively for two campaigns, Andy Rosenberg and Lisa Marie Cheney, and in both cases I made donations totalling in the low hundreds.

Committed volunteers give what they can, even if it just $10. Gill gave Cuccinelli ZERO. Gill gave Bill Bolling $13,000, meaning that poverty was not a reason that Gill did not nominally contribute any money to Cuccinelli.

So what is the tireless support that Cuccinelli claims he received from Gill, support that Cuccinelli now says he is repaying?

I believe that the tireless support that Cuccinelli says he received from Gill includes the $15,000 that Cuccinelli received from the Saudi Safa Group, which the feds raided in 2002. Safa set up shell corporations which Gill’s AMC boss Abdurahman Alamoudi used to launder money and engage in criminal activity.

If you look at Cuccinelli’s donations you see that Cuccinelli received nothing from Gill but thousands from Safa-owned Mar-Jac Poultry, Ahmed Totonji, Al-Barzinji et al and other Safa Group officials.

A reasonable conclusion is that Cuccinelli is paying Faisal Gill back for the suspect donations which Cuccinelli received from Safa Group, a raided Saudi entity which appointed Abdurahman Alamoudi to its shell corporations.

This is an outrage. Cuccinelli must tell us what kind of tireless support he allegedly received from Gill, and whether it included contributions from Safa Group.

That is odd. Maybe there is another type of business arrangement between the two.

Bolling might be questioned about how much Islamic law he wants to introduce into Virginia either directly or indirectly as discussed by Arnaud De Borhcgrave.

De Borchgrave notes the “multi-culturalism” aspect of sharia. For instance, a judge in Germany exonerated a wife-beater on the grounds that the assailant and his victim were Moslems and wife-beating, the German judge alleged, is encouraged in Islam.

The explicit “multi-culturalism” claims of Faisal’s defenders should be of concern to all of us, since speakers at Faisal’s rally spoke of America’s Islamic heritage. Now, everyone has the right to govern himself by his own heritage. However, no one has the right to govern me according to Islamic heritage. I am not subject to it.

We are still waiting for occasional BVBL contributor and Faisal-defender Charles to provide us with the MP3s that he made of the event. What is it that people said at the 3/31/07 Faisal Rally that Charles is ashamed of?

We have already seen how one of Faisal’s defenders on BVBL has already started down the path of holding Faisal to a different, “multi-cultural” standard.

This person argued (incorrectly) that most Moslem organizations have some terrorists in leadership positions. Faisal, this defender reasoned, is a Moslem and so has a right to join Moslem organizations.

Therefore, the defender concluded, we should not be disturbed about Faisal lobbying for a terrorist’s (Abdurahman Alamoudi’s) American Muslim Council, since it was a predictable result of Faisal being a Moslem.
