Ham Sandwich Momentum

By Greg L | 25 April 2007 | Prince William County | 18 Comments

The write-in candidacy of “Ham Sandwich for Commonwealth Attorney” looks like it’s going to become a full-blown campaign by the looks of the new campaign website that’s popped up. They’re even talking about raising money through a PAC in order to buy yard signs and bumper stickers to promote the campaign. How you do a campaign kickoff for a sandwich should be interesting, but I can certainly see bumper stickers for this campaign becoming a hot commodity. Meanwhile it looks like Ham has a relative running in the 10th House District by the looks of Alton Foley’s sidebar.

This could be the delicatessen year for Virginia politics.  Can an incumbent officeholder be defeated in an election by an inanimate object?  This campaign season looks like it might be the first time this concept could be tested, as this is looking more and more like a serious challenge.

The trick is to avoid serving ham sandwiches at campaign events. The risk of ingesting the candidate is very real.

Ham strongly opposes illegal immigration and will participate in any and all local, state and federal programs aimed at protecting U.S. citizens and legal immigrants while apprehending those who have broken the law.

Also, Ham is a strong supporter of civil rights and the concept of innocent until proven guilty. Many a time people have said that a prosecutor could indict Ham Sandwich when Ham was not guilty of any crime nor in most cases anywhere remotely near where the alleged crime had been committed.

Not to worry NoVA…I visualize stuffed turkey as the centerpiece of the buffet table at the kickoff.

Something about this whole campaign just isn’t kosher . . .

Anyway, there is even more to the ham sandwich campaign:

Gotta figure that some idiot (Ron) would twist something good-natured into some sort bigotry. Ironically, people like this are the TRUE hate-mongers.

AWCheney, did they have sarcasm where you grew up?

And what is bigoted about what I posted? Or did I just not get your joke? Seriously!

Honestly, I posted the link as a tangential bit of sarcasm. Believe me, I was not intending to turn the post into bigotry accusations. This seems to me to be a case of misinterpretation or overreaction on your part.

I am sorry to everyone, but I must be missing the boat here! Why is everyone so against Paul Ebert? he is one of the most successful Commonwealth Attorneys in the state. He has more people on death row than anyone and that coming from a democrat. I must have missed something.
