Bruce Roemmelt Forgets To Show Up
By Greg L | 9 May 2007 | 13th HOD District | 7 Comments
Although the Connection Newspapers isn’t quite a media powerhouse, they do a pretty good job of covering local political stories in more depth than many other local media outlets. So when they send candidates a questionnaire, it’s usually a good idea for them to respond. Bob Marshall gets this. Bruce Roemmelt, who has been rather busy chasing after homosexual interest groups, many which don’t have membership in his district, apparently does not.
The following survey was distributed to General Assembly candidates in contested races. Democratic challenger Bruce Roemmelt did not respond to the survey sent via email.
That doesn’t look good. The entire story then becomes nothing but Bob Marshall talking about his stand on the issues, and as usual does a very good job.
I’d understand if voters get the impression that Roemmelt has never been in an election before. This is pretty dumb.

I suspect that he’ll deny having received it. I made it a practice of answering all surveys when I ran for School Board, even for the likes of the PWEA and PWFT, whose endorsements I didn’t want, and had zero chance of receiving. I think it’s just good politics to be honest with whomever asks you your positions.
Wow, I actually agree with James Young for once in my life. It’s beautiful. I’m getting all verklempt.

I’m very confused. How do you know which “homosexual interest groups” do and do not have membership in the district? Do you have access to their membership lists? Or are you just ASSUMING this?

Don’t you know — Greg just knows things. He’s not bound by such petty concepts as verification. He’s like our own Lou Dobbs — if he says it, it must be true.
Odd for an allegedly straight guy to be so all-knowing when it comes to who is gay.
Maybe his “gaydar” is superior to ours. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
He meets with the Virginia Partisans Gay & Lesbian Democratic Club in Alexandria, and then with the Young Liberals Of Central Virginia at UVA. He hasn’t held a fundraiser or major event within his district yet, as far as I can tell.
What am I supposed to think here? That 13th District voters can regularly be found in Alexandria and Charlottesville in the evening?
