Who Is RNS Bedford Park?

By Greg L | 14 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 9 Comments

In Faisal Gill’s 2006 Q4 Campaign Finance Disclosure filed with the State Board of Elections there was a curious line item in Schedule B, which lists contributions over $100. A $1,000 contribution was listed coming from an organization identified as “RNS Bedford Park” at “5202 West 70th Place, Bedford Park, IL, 60638″, and listed as being in the cosmetics industry. The problem is, no one has had much luck figuring out what this company is, or why they might be interested in a House of Delegates race in Virginia. They don’t seem to be listed anywhere. They don’t seem to even exist.

That address happens to be the headquarters for “Raani Corporation”, however, and they make discount cosmetics. Had this line item shown up in a finance report under as “Raani Corporation”, that line item might have set off a few red flags for Republican convention attendees, who might otherwise have thought that Faisal’s conservative credentials were beyond reproach. You see the Raani Corporation is controlled by the Chaudary family in Bethesda, MD, and they have contributed to the most liberal political campaigns in the country, including Jesse Jackson, Harry Reid, Carol Moseley-Braun, Barbara Mikulski, Barbara Boxer, Richard Gephardt, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton, often to the maximum extents permitted by law. Just the sort of folks that Faisal Gill wants to be associated with, as a conservative candidate.

Late in 2005 the Chaudary family seems to have warmed up to George Allen, however. And even to Frank Wolf. It’s sort of like an obscure poultry company in Georgia, which just happened to be affiliated with the terrorist financing Safa Group, which had been donating money to Democrats elsewhere suddenly discovering that Steve Chapman’s primary campaign was something important to their interests. Wasn’t Faisal Gill around for that episode as well? Yeah, he was Chapman’s “spokesman”.

So here’s quite a dilemma for a conservative campaign. You want campaign cash, but it looks bad if it comes from muslim activists. Maybe you hire a good consultant to see if he can bury the information in the finance disclosure somehow…

Because as you dig into this a little more, you find that Rashid Chaudary was a big player in the American Muslim Council and the Islamic Institute back in the days of the Clinton Administration. His associates wanted to overthrow the Pakistani government of Benazir Bhutto, and tried to stage a photo at a dinner at Chaudary’s house which would be used to convince folks the coup plotters were talking to that they had the backing of the U.S. Government. The little scheme failed, that time. As late as 2005 Chaudary liked to ham it up with Hillary Clinton and Khaled Saffuri who served as the Assistant Director of the AMC. And now he seems to be among the few donating to Faisal Gill’s campaign.

While Faisal Gill likes to tell us that his relationship with the American Muslim Council and the Islamic Institute was brief and superficial, here are the same people who had been involved with the AMC long ago showing up now and apparently donating to Faisal Gill’s campaign now. To top it off, it looks as of the connection between these donors and Faisal Gill has been obfuscated in order to make these connections less obvious, something not unlike the way that ethics disclosures demonstrating that Faisal Gill worked for the AMC and Islamic Institute strangely morphed into consulting gigs with “AG Consulting Group” when the information was required for an SF-86 security clearance application. But those two contradictory depictions of Faisal Gill’s employment activities were both determined to be accurate and truthful, so no doubt it is possible that “RNS Bedford Park” and “Raani Corporation” are both entirely accurate descriptions of the same entity, that no attempt to mislead the voters has occurred, and that Faisal Gill has “met or exceeded all requirements”.

It all depends on what the definition of “is” is, no doubt.

UPDATE: Might this also have something to do with Raani Corporation trying to secure H1B Visas to bring foreigners in to work for Ranni Corporation, and Faisal Gill promoting himself as an immigration attorney? Perhaps it’s hard to find building engineers these days among domestic American workers.

So, here’s the money trail back to AMC and the Islamic Institute, only with some different names.

I can’t begin to tell you how upset I am by the info here–even though Gill is not in my district.

BTW, getting ready to link your site at mine.

“Bin Laden is believed to be hiding in remote mountains along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.”

“Hekmatyar is believed to be hiding is eastern Afghanistan or Pakistan while leading his Hizb-e-Islami faction in attacks against foreign and government targets, reported AFP.”

“Hekmatyar, a former Afghan prime minister, is on a US wanted list and leads an insurgency separate from the Taliban Islamist movement against the Afghan government and foreign troops under the command of NATO and the US military. In January, Hekmatyar said fighters loyal to his group had helped Bin Laden and his deputy Ayman al-Zawahri escape a massive US-led hunt in eastern Afghanistan in late 2001.”

WAKE UP PRINCE WILLIAM and the rest of AMERICA. Those “foreign governments” referred to in the above news clip…it’s us!

Just because Chairman Corey Stewart, PWCRC Chairman Tom Kopko, Lt. Governor Bill Bolling, Del. Scott Linghamfelter and others endorse Faisal Gill does NOT mean they’re right or Gill is in the clear!

Come on Chairman Stewart, we know you’re smarter than that!

“Corey A. Stewart is special counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Stewart has considerable experience in the following areas of law: International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); Export Administration Regulations (EAR); Foreign Assets Control Regulations (Sanctions); National Industrial Security Program and Operating Manual (NISPOM); Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States Regulations (CFIUS).”

Stewart needs to get away from this guy now. I’m a Stewart fan, but this is not going away and is doing him absolutely no good. I really can’t believe that Gill is still in this race and still has support from Stewart and other conservatives.

LI: if you look at his support, it is all people OUTSIDE of the 51st. I have been saying since I first started doing research on this guy that he does not pass the “smell” test when it comes to candidates for public office.

When I initially found “RNS Bedford Park”, VPAP has it listed as “Miscellaneous Manufacturing”. I found that VERY suspect. Also, one of his contributors, a Muhammad Suleman is from “tbd, VA”. I have YET to find THAT on Mapquest - lol

Stewart’s going nowhere - he’s getting donations to his campaign out of this relationship.

Faisal Gill said during the convention that he was proud of his work with Muslim groups.
