Dem 51st Convention Announced
By Greg L | 16 May 2007 | PWCDC, 51st HOD District | 7 Comments
The Prince William County Democratic Committee has issued it’s own call for a convention for the 51st District to be held on June 2nd. Candidates must file by May 22nd, and pay a $1,000 filing fee, which is low by PWCDC standards. Delegate forms are due by May 29th. Of note is that the delegate prefiling form provided has the name “Jeff Dion” prewritten as the delegates candidate preference, which sort of makes this look like PWCDC Chairman Peter Frisbie is expressing his preference before the candidate filing deadline has expired.
Is there something wrong with the county’s water supply?

I guess I don’t follow the PWCDC. What happened to Vic Bras?
Dems taking lessons from Kopko, that’s a hoot!
Vic Bras resigned earlier this year after Helen Cram was re-appointed to the Electoral Board as the Democrats representative over the objections of PWCDC leadership.
At this point, only Dion is a declared candidate. As such, delegates can either be undecided or Dion delegates. Let’s hope that if/when another candidate comes forward, the form is updated to include his/her name as well as Dion’s or to remove all names. It does seem odd, though.
What’s with the water, indeed.
The problem is you don’t pre-fill the name of a candidate prior to the filing deadline passing. The delegate form should not be available to anyone until after the deadline passes. My guess is Deb Vaughn put the form together and not Pete but he should have caught this obvious mistake.
It was corrected. It was a simple oversight and there is no preference being made in this race. The PWCDC was simply trying to get the information out there and online for everyone to see as soon as possible. Thanks for catching this.
I spoke to Pete and learned that this was a simple mistake of the uncorrected form being uploaded to the site. Sorry, no conspiracy here.
That’s reassuring. I can understand that it’ll take a little time for the leadership to hit it’s stride, and that a few oversights are to be expected.
It’s an awfully strange coincidence, though.
