I am half way through an English interpretation of the Koran, (boring), but I will finish it. It was translated by J.M. Rodwell in 1907, before Islam became a salient issue in the West. It has tables to assist the reader in finding particular Suras. I have read seven other books on Islamic Fundamentalists (Including Ayaan Hirsi Ali's "Infidel", and Brigitte Gabriel's "Because They Hate"),and have come to the conclusion that if one is a true-blue Muslim he/she will confirm to the Koran, but more to the point many of the phrases in the numerous Hadiths. In that light, it appears as though the Muslims do not want their faith known seldom do anything to advertise it. Has anyone seen a "FAISAL" bumper sticker? If not, why not?

"""Paul Sperry is obviously a bigot. i know many people are going to scream “O they are pulling hte race card again,” but the truth of the matter is it is racist.""

How so? Provide some examples, please.

"""The man says that Paul Findley is a sympathizer."""

Paul Findley is not even a Moslem. Criticizing him is not racist.

"""If any of you have ever read the book “Silent No More,” which I have, (I also suggest some of you read it, it is actually very intersting) you would know that this book in no way, shape, or form sympathizes terrorists."""

When Findley was in Congress 30 years ago he was very supportive of Yasser Arafat. Findley told the Wall Street Journal that he wished that Yasser Arafat could go on the Tonight Show so people could see how likable Arafat is.

You may not agree that Arafat was a terrorist, but thinking that Arafat was and that Findley sympathized with Arafat is not racist. It is a reasonable conclusion supported by the evidence.

"""Alot of the poeple who post on this site about Sharia Law and how Muslims must follow that over the law of the land know nothing or very very little about the Muslim faith."""

Asim Ghafoor has said that if you do not rule according to Islam then you are a kaffir. Some Moslems believe in imposing aspects of sharia law, and others resolutely oppose it. Unfortunately Gill's employers/clients/partners Abdurahman Alamoudi and Asim Ghafoor are advocates of state-sponsored sharia law.

"""Muslims being violent people"""

Some are, as are some non-Moslems as well.

"""who must abide by Sharia Law."""

Some impose Islamic law and some do not. Had a drink in Saudi Arabia lately? Why not?

"""I also am not suggesting that there are not any Muslims who beleive that they must only follow Sharia Law,"""

We are in agreement. The problem is that Asim Ghafoor is one of those people, as is Abdurahman Alamoudi. No one has explained why Gill was working as a lobbyist for, on behalf of and with Ghafoor and Alamoudi.

"""these are the extremists and radicals,"""

Agreed. Gill's former employers/clients/partners Asim Ghafoor and Abdurahman Alamoudi are extremists and radicals.

"""there are people like this in many faiths.""

Agreed.

"""This post that I am making has no intention of trashing any posters on this site, I simply want people to learn a little more about the faith."""

I am all in favor of people learning about the positive aspects of Islam, and also learning about negative elements such as the American Muslim Council, Abdurahman Alamoudi, al-Haramain and Asim Ghafoor.

Why was Gill working for Abdurahman Alamoudi and Asim Ghafoor as the chief lobbyist for the imprisoned Alamoudi's American Muslim Council?

I wouldn't use this book as too much of a source. Paul Sperry is obviously a bigot. i know many people are going to scream "O they are pulling hte race card again," but the truth of the matter is it is racist. The man says that Paul Findley is a sympathizer. If any of you have ever read the book "Silent No More," which I have, (I also suggest some of you read it, it is actually very intersting) you would know that this book in no way, shape, or form sympathizes terrorists. It simply tells about some of his life experieces dealing with Muslims and tries to clear up some misconceptions that many people in the U.S. have. And there definately are many many misconceptions about the Muslim faith. Alot of the poeple who post on this site about Sharia Law and how Muslims must follow that over the law of the land know nothing or very very little about the Muslim faith. I suggest that many of you people sit down with an Imam and listen to some truths about the faith. Or do some of your own research on the faith and educate yourselves a little bit. When you do some research on your own please go look at and Islamic website or something of that sort rather than on a site posting facts about Muslims being violent people who must abide by Sharia Law. I also am not suggesting that there are not any Muslims who beleive that they must only follow Sharia Law, these are the extremists and radicals, there are people like this in many faiths. This post that I am making has no intention of trashing any posters on this site, I simply want people to learn a little more about the faith.

Gill is like the mafia lawyer who gets his training in the district attorney's office fighting crime, then uses what he learned to be the best defense attorney the mafia could have because he has written the manual on how to prosecute criminals. He knows in advance all the plays the prosecution will use.

Gill may have worked for the Navy, Office of Homeland Security etc, but is now using that knowledge along with his law partners to help those who are declared terrorist supporters in the US.

I wouldn't want to take that type of money from those types of characters, but Gill's law firm is.

Asim Ghafoor (Faisal's law partner) http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=896

Also, there is a book called "Infiltration" talking about terrorists and their sympathizers who have "infiltrated" our government- there is a whole chapter dedicated to Faisal Gill. Check that out at www.sperryfiles.com

Faisal's connections are not "guilt by association" AT ALL!

mom - From the very first day Julie decided to apply for the school board vacancy she was appointed and subsequently elected the number one thing she would talk about is accredidation. No one else has expended anywhere close to as much energy as she has with regards to that issue. She started with focus on schools on her district, but may have had so much early success with that she might have moved on to focus on getting schools throughout the county fully accredidated.

""" don’t get this:
“Being a partner in a lobbying firm that advocates increased government spending on behalf of his clients”

Itn’t this what lobbying firms do? Is there more to this?"""

It is indeed what a lobbyist is supposed to do. However, it is not what fiscal conservatives are supposed to do, or so Julie would argue.

A lobbyist who preaches fiscal responsibility is like a whorehouse madam preaching virginity.

I didn't see anything to indicate the stat was limited to her district, still and all, my points stands.

I will cede the second point.

As to your third point, I said I have no dog in the fight and would have faced quite a conundrum in having to chose between the two. A pursuasive arguement could be made that they have similar issues with credibility and responsibility. You guys have beat on Faisal ad nauseum, but I haven't taken note of anyone questioning the role of Lucas in the Board votes demanding more money from the BOCS or initiating litigation in the circuit court. Neither action gives me a good feeling about her intention to "reduce taxes".

mom-

Three things.

1) the accredidation rate stat refers to her district, not the entire county. your point might stand to some extent, but she played a large role in that increase.

2)Julie was the only republican to vote AGAINST the new admin building.

3) If you stand by your last point, you better question Faisal's credibility on those grounds too, as he asserts (correctly) the same four points.

I don't have a dog in this fight and I don't mean to nitpick but her assertion that "she increased the accredidation rate from 33%to 100%" apparently presumes that no one else on the Board was involved or interested, sounds like line out of Lucy's playbook.

At the risk of further annoying the echo-chamber, notwithstanding that statement which may be attributed to poor grammar (guess the School Board needs to go back and get "re-edumacated"), her vow to eliminate wasteful spending would seem to run counter to some of her recent Board votes, ie: the new admin. building, and would seem to be mutually exclusive of some of her other vows. I still haven't seen anyone successfully pull off (and I mean concurrently) eliminating wasteful spending, getting money back from Richmond, sending more dollars to the classroom and reducing taxes. I could almost buy into the first three concurrently but the fourth is a killer to the premise and her credibility.

I still haven’t seen anyone successfully pull off (and I mean concurrently) eliminating wasteful spending, getting money back from Richmond, sending more dollars to the classroom and reducing taxes. I could almost buy into the first three concurrently but the fourth is a killer to the premise and her credibility.

Not to make too fine a point of it, but the flyer should read "with a partner who lobbies" not "with a partner that lobbies."

Asim Ghafoor is not an inanimate object but is very much alive. Thus he is a "who" not an "it."
