Greg, Maureen,

I agree with you and hope that the presence of millions of illegal foreign nationals in our country will be the issue that inspires people who normally aren't involved in politics to dive in head first. But I wonder how long people's staying power will be because we have heard this all before.

Remember 1990 when people were "mad as hell" and weren't going to take it anymore? All the usual suspects got relected to Congress. The Perot/Reform Party phenomena of 1992 collapsed just as quickly as it appeared. And the "revolution" of 1994 lasted less than one session of Congress.

And then there is this aspect of it, will the illegal issue truly make people one issue voters? Will pro-choicers vote for pro-life candidates who on the right side of the illegal issue and vice versa?

Yes, we need to beat our elected officials/candidates over the head with this and not let them weasel out of giving us definitive answers on what they plan on doing.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Ted,

The key in my mind is to make sure that the elected officials moving up the ranks are consistently those who are on the right side on this issue. If we ever got to the point that every member of the HOD and state senate were right on the subject of illegal aliens, we'd never have a problem in our senate/congressional delegation on this issue. That's the concept, although the execution is a little difficult.

In the meantime, this is an issue we should make every candidate talk about, at every level. If they can't escape from the issue, perhaps it'll reinforce in their minds how important it is to the voters.

We start fielding candidates that will be tough on illegals. It can and has been done. Look at Herndon, Jackson Miller and the new Manassas City Councilmembers. People are tired of what is happening in our own country and are starting to do something about it.

It is fine to talk about tossing the bums out, but replace them with who? Unless incumbents lose in their own party's primary they are very unlikely to lose to a challenger from the other party, especially if that challenger is even more spineless on illlegal foreign nationals (my term of choice).

So what's the choice? Look for a 3d party candidate?

The Libertarians are out since they are open border types and I would guess that the Greens are the same. The Constitution Party has a strong position on secure borders and illegals, but barely has a presence in the state.

This is unbelievable! The one good thing about this is, it infuriates the average American citizen all the more, and hopefully it will be enough so they will become involved. We can not let these special interest groups dictate in Washington.

I would also suggest when we are calling our "elected officials" we tell them this funding is unacceptable and demand they rescind it! A lot of folks are up for re-election in the next couple of years and we need to let them know we have the capability to vote them out of office.

We, the American people, need to be the ones to dictate policy in OUR country!

Join us at our next Help Save Manassas meeting on May 30th!

Sure wish Virginians would follow Arizonan's lead with regard to the way both Warner and Webb voted to SUPPORT the immigration amnesty....

Word is state of ARIZONA is a tinder-box in reaction to their SENATORS' support of the bill and about ready to explode -- Arizona Republicans are turning in their party cards in droves, the rhetoric is VENOMOUS, the outrage is PALPABLE, and the Republican Party is afraid this reaction is gonna go NATIONAL…. DUH, ya think???

REPUBS and DEMS alike better stop smoking crack, sit up and start paying attention to what we the people have been telling them until we are BLUE in the face -- because the whoopASS is just getting started...

I've requested Tom come and speak with us, and have even corresponded with his scheduler, but he's focused on Iowa right now and his schedule just doesn't have any room in it.

At some point, when his schedule allows it, I believe he will pay us a visit.
