Delegate Scott Lingamfelter’s most recent “Lingamfelter Report” again dispenses with campaign talk and dives into the immigration travesty that is being considered in the U. S. Senate, this time laying out a legislative agenda on immigration reform that I really wish the Senate was discussing instead of the amnesty plan that’s being ramrodded right now. For now, keep the pressure up on our senators, who I understand are getting plenty of input from constituents on this topic. Later on, maybe we’ll have an opportunity to improve the quality of Congress and the Senate with folks who have an agenda like this:
If there was ever a time to let your representatives know where you are on this bill, it is today. Please let them know today that you want a legislative approach that:
1. Secures the borders of our country first and foremost. No excuses. Just do it.
2. Removes any incentive for a person to come to the United States illegally in the first place.
3. Removes any incentive for illegal aliens currently in the United States to remain here.
4. Empowers and resources state and local authorities to enforce the laws on the books today.
5. Holds employers responsible when they knowingly and willingly hire illegal aliens.
6. Requires that the voter registration officers of all states review voter records to ensure that only citizens are registered to vote.
7. Amends Section 1 of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution that states “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside” to prohibit people from coming across our borders specifically to have children who then automatically become citizens of the United States.
Some will say this is harsh. But my response is simple. A nation that does not enforce its laws is a nation headed toward anarchy. I did not defend this nation for 28 years—some of that time in combat—to see us throw our laws out the window.
That is why in 2006 I took action to strengthen Virginia’s voter registration laws requiring the Department of Motor Vehicles not to offer a voter registration form to anybody except those who are in fact US citizens.
My bill also requires DMV to furnish monthly lists to the State Board of Elections of license applicants who indicate a non-citizen status on their driver license applications, and directs the State Board to forward that information to the general registrars. Additionally, my bill stated that if a person indicates a non-citizen status and was previously registered to vote, they would then be removed from the voter rolls. This is the law in Virginia today, and is an example of what can be accomplished when legislators fix what is broken, not make it worse.
Please notify your Senators and Representatives in Congress to take a strong stance against the amnesty sell-out.
Keep the pressure on.

And again I want to post, first and foremost, how on earth can Lingamfelter claim to be opposed to illegal immigration?
Lingamfelter is endorsing the immigration law firm partner Faisal Gill. Lingamfelter, who was received a $500 campaign contribution from Faisal Gill, attended Gill’s campaign kickoff and bellowed to the crowd, “What are you going to do to get this man elected?”
Lingamfelter is opposing staunch illegal immigration foe Julie Lucas. Julie says on her website:

Faisal on his website does NOT support state and local enforcement of immigration laws. Faisal claims it is a federal responsibility.

I hope that someone will ask Lingamfelter how in heaven’s name he can claim to oppose illegal immigration yet oppose the ONLY HOD-51 candidate who explicitly supports state and local enforcement of immigration laws.
The time has come for Lingamfelter to retract his endorsement of Gill. After the convention it will be too late.
If Lingamfelter continues to support the do-nothing immigration law firm partner Faisal Gill then Lingamfelter will be marked as a pro-illegal immigration fraud who is fooling the public.
I have to agree with Jonathan on this one. All politicians that have endorsed Gill, know by now what his background is. They need to back off their support of him because it will be used against them come election time.

John, I support both federal and state and local enforcement.
Your quote of Julie’s site shows only that she supports the 287G program for state and local officials, but that program is NOT about illegal immigrants, but about illegal immigrants that are arrested for OTHER crimes. It’s a good program I support, but hardly the same as supporting “state and local enforcement of immigration laws”.
The 287G program is NOT about enforcing immigration laws, it is about having the tools to get ICE to come in and deport criminals who are found to be illegal immigrants.
I’m not saying Julie doesn’t also support direct enforcement of immigration laws, although I’d love to see YOU explain what you mean by that, like do you want our local police and sheriffs out looking for illegal immigrants to turn over to the ICE (the current federal law does not allow state and local government to deport anybody).
Still, like I said, I am for federal enforcement, AND for state and local government doing all they can to discourage illegal immigrants from settling in our state.
Julie Lucas doesn’t say anything about discouraging illegal immigrants from living here.

Sure. Why not? And that is what 287g would do with respect to sheriffs, who run the local jails. Contrary to popular belief, sheriffs and attorney generals do not investigate crimes in Virginia.
However, “the best is the enemy of the good.” Charles is embarrassed that Julie supports 287g and Faisal does not.

Unfortunately, Faisal Gill does not support 287g.
Great article on illegal immigration. Delegate Lingamfelter is certainly doing his part to urge everyone to contact their appropriate federal legislator. If enough people call the House and Senate might actually listen.

Lingamfelter opposes the only candidate for the HOD-51 nomination whose website supports state and local enforcement of immigration laws. That candidate is Julie Lucas.
Instead Lingamfelter is endorsing Faisal Gill, whose website makes no mention of state and local enforcement of immigration laws. And no wonder. Gill is a partner in an immigration law firm. Gill’s firm Gill and Gallinger advertises that it will file asylum requests on behalf of persons awaiting deportation.
The problem is that Lingamfelter is using his position to keep Julie Lucas, a strong opponent of illegal immigration out of the HOD. Instead Lingamfelter supports…Faisal Gill, an immigration law firm partner who does not support state and local enforcement of immigration laws.
What is worse, Lingamfelter makes no effort to explain this hypocrisy. He relies on the public to be stupid. What else besides Faisal Gill is Lingamfelter trying to sneak past the public?
Johnathan is so right…..most of the right wing relies on stupidity of the public!!! Surely Scott should know that Julie is far more well qualified to serve in the HOD, and she has a record on the School Board to prove it. I am a Democrat and have never voted for Julie, but by virtue of her non-partisan hard work - she deserves Scott’s support. Scott does swope to new lows when he does something like this and one wonders who is pulling the puppet strings on some of these actions!!
As far as Scott’s immigration “bill’ - it has about as much credibility as the proposal before the Senate….purely ridiculous if anyone thinks any of this can be enforced. Just from his “Secure the borders” - no excuses!!! What the hell is that supposed to mean? Maybe if we pull the 150,000 troops out of Iraq we might have the manpower to do this while guarding the ridiculous ‘fence’………2. Remove incentives!! Their incentives are to feed their families….and until that happens, they willl come over…..as far as ‘making’ employers obey the law……well they are hiring the illegals already. What makes anyone think they will stop with a new law. I went down to the 7-11 when i need help with my yard…..you think im gonna stop?? Does anyone know there are 58 fedreal immigration courts in the US? That reflects how complicated that immigration is already!!! more laws? more confusion??? nothing done………….more rhetoric just ain’t gonna do it Scott!!!
