Johnathan is so right.....most of the right wing relies on stupidity of the public!!! Surely Scott should know that Julie is far more well qualified to serve in the HOD, and she has a record on the School Board to prove it. I am a Democrat and have never voted for Julie, but by virtue of her non-partisan hard work - she deserves Scott's support. Scott does swope to new lows when he does something like this and one wonders who is pulling the puppet strings on some of these actions!!

As far as Scott's immigration "bill' - it has about as much credibility as the proposal before the Senate....purely ridiculous if anyone thinks any of this can be enforced. Just from his "Secure the borders" - no excuses!!! What the hell is that supposed to mean? Maybe if we pull the 150,000 troops out of Iraq we might have the manpower to do this while guarding the ridiculous 'fence'.........2. Remove incentives!! Their incentives are to feed their families....and until that happens, they willl come over.....as far as 'making' employers obey the law......well they are hiring the illegals already. What makes anyone think they will stop with a new law. I went down to the 7-11 when i need help with my yard.....you think im gonna stop?? Does anyone know there are 58 fedreal immigration courts in the US? That reflects how complicated that immigration is already!!! more laws? more confusion??? nothing done.............more rhetoric just ain't gonna do it Scott!!!

"""Delegate Lingamfelter is certainly doing his part to urge everyone to contact their appropriate federal legislator. """

Lingamfelter opposes the only candidate for the HOD-51 nomination whose website supports state and local enforcement of immigration laws. That candidate is Julie Lucas.

Instead Lingamfelter is endorsing Faisal Gill, whose website makes no mention of state and local enforcement of immigration laws. And no wonder. Gill is a partner in an immigration law firm. Gill's firm Gill and Gallinger advertises that it will file asylum requests on behalf of persons awaiting deportation.

The problem is that Lingamfelter is using his position to keep Julie Lucas, a strong opponent of illegal immigration out of the HOD. Instead Lingamfelter supports...Faisal Gill, an immigration law firm partner who does not support state and local enforcement of immigration laws.

What is worse, Lingamfelter makes no effort to explain this hypocrisy. He relies on the public to be stupid. What else besides Faisal Gill is Lingamfelter trying to sneak past the public?

Great article on illegal immigration. Delegate Lingamfelter is certainly doing his part to urge everyone to contact their appropriate federal legislator. If enough people call the House and Senate might actually listen.

"""like do you want our local police and sheriffs out looking for illegal immigrants to turn over to the ICE"""

Sure. Why not? And that is what 287g would do with respect to sheriffs, who run the local jails. Contrary to popular belief, sheriffs and attorney generals do not investigate crimes in Virginia.

However, "the best is the enemy of the good." Charles is embarrassed that Julie supports 287g and Faisal does not.

"""Julie Lucas doesn’t say anything about discouraging illegal immigrants from living here."""

287g definitely discourages illegal aliens from living here.

Unfortunately, Faisal Gill does not support 287g.

John Light wrote: "Faisal on his website does NOT support state and local enforcement of immigration laws. Faisal claims it is a federal responsibility."

John, I support both federal and state and local enforcement.

Your quote of Julie's site shows only that she supports the 287G program for state and local officials, but that program is NOT about illegal immigrants, but about illegal immigrants that are arrested for OTHER crimes. It's a good program I support, but hardly the same as supporting "state and local enforcement of immigration laws".

The 287G program is NOT about enforcing immigration laws, it is about having the tools to get ICE to come in and deport criminals who are found to be illegal immigrants.

I'm not saying Julie doesn't also support direct enforcement of immigration laws, although I'd love to see YOU explain what you mean by that, like do you want our local police and sheriffs out looking for illegal immigrants to turn over to the ICE (the current federal law does not allow state and local government to deport anybody).

Still, like I said, I am for federal enforcement, AND for state and local government doing all they can to discourage illegal immigrants from settling in our state.

Julie Lucas doesn't say anything about discouraging illegal immigrants from living here.

I have to agree with Jonathan on this one. All politicians that have endorsed Gill, know by now what his background is. They need to back off their support of him because it will be used against them come election time.
Is Fitzsimonds (sp) still backing Gill?

And again I want to post, first and foremost, how on earth can Lingamfelter claim to be opposed to illegal immigration?

Lingamfelter is endorsing the immigration law firm partner Faisal Gill. Lingamfelter, who was received a $500 campaign contribution from Faisal Gill, attended Gill's campaign kickoff and bellowed to the crowd, "What are you going to do to get this man elected?"

Lingamfelter is opposing staunch illegal immigration foe Julie Lucas. Julie says on her website:

http://www.votejulielucas.com/issues.shtml

"""Illegal Immigration

We see the impact of illegal immigration more and more every day. We cannot promote and encourage illegal activity. We also cannot allow our local jurisdictions' hands to be tied with this issue. Julie supports entering into a MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) to form a partnership with the Department of Homeland Security allowing ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) training for employees at our jails, our state police department, and our local law enforcement officials. We must do everything we can to keep Prince William and all Virginians safe and keep repeat criminal offenders off the streets. According to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Department, the ICE training program "provides necessary resources and latitude to pursue investigations relating to violent crimes, human smuggling, gang/organized crime activity, sexual-related offenses, narcotics smuggling, and money laundering; and allows increased resources and support in more geographical locations." This program will allow our local and state law enforcement officials to fulfill their duty to keep everyone safe. (Link here)

Julie does not support using tax dollars to fund day laborer facilities."""

Faisal on his website does NOT support state and local enforcement of immigration laws. Faisal claims it is a federal responsibility.

Julie clearly does support state and local enforcement of immigration laws.

I hope that someone will ask Lingamfelter how in heaven's name he can claim to oppose illegal immigration yet oppose the ONLY HOD-51 candidate who explicitly supports state and local enforcement of immigration laws.

The time has come for Lingamfelter to retract his endorsement of Gill. After the convention it will be too late.

If Lingamfelter continues to support the do-nothing immigration law firm partner Faisal Gill then Lingamfelter will be marked as a pro-illegal immigration fraud who is fooling the public.
