Faisal Gill: Bad Choices

By Greg L | 24 May 2007 | 51st HOD District | 33 Comments

51st House District candidate Faisal Gill has said that the American Muslim Council, for which he was a spokesman in 2001, was a moderate group which only sought to increase the rate of participation by Muslims in the political process here in America, as well as their influence in the political debate. If that’s what the American Muslim Council actually was, and their notorious ties to now-convicted terrorists was just some strange coincidence, we probably wouldn’t be talking about the American Muslim Council and the Islamic Free Market Institute a whole lot. Behind the thin facade of public respectability the AMC fostered there clearly was something more disturbing going on. It’s quite a stretch that when members are referring to Jews as “monkeys and pigs” and shouting “Death to Israel” anyone actively working on behalf of the organization would be ignorant to what was really happening.

Three years before Faisal Gill worked for the AMC, now convicted terrorist supporter Sami Al-Arian was addressing meetings of the AMC and saying some disturbing things.

From House of Bush/House of Saud; by Craig Unger; Scribner [HC]; Copyright 2004 by Craig Unger; ISBN 0-7432-5337-X; p. 207, as quoted in For The Record #462 by Dave Emory:

“There were also [Sami] Al-Arian’s own statements. In 1998, he appeared as a guest speaker before the American Muslim Council. According to conservative author Kenneth Timmerman, Al-Arian referred to Jews as ‘monkeys and pigs’ and added, ‘Jihad is our path. Victory to Islam. Death to Israel. Revolution! Revolution! Until victory! Rolling, rolling to Jerusalem!’ That speech was part of a dossier compiled on al-Arian by federal agents who have had him under surveillance for many years because of suspected ties to terrorist organizations. In a videotape in that file, al-Arian was more explicit. When he appeared at a fund-raising event, Timmerman says, he ‘begged for $500 to kill a Jew.’

Jon Levin of National Review has this to say about the actions of Alamoudi and the AMC only several months before Faisal Gill went to work for them:

Defending Al-Arian and charging the government with bias are components of AMC’s overall rejection of U.S. counterterrorism policy. In October of 2000, AMC’s secretary and founding director, Abdurahman Alamoudi, told a cheering crowd in Lafayette Park, “I have been labeled by the media in New York to be a supporter of Hamas . . . Hear that Bill Clinton? We are all supporters of Hamas. I wish they added that I am also a supporter of Hizbollah.” And again, in a June, 2000 interview for the Arabic paper al-Zaitonah, Alamoudi said, “[AMC’s] position with regard to the peace process is well known. We are the ones who went to the White House and defended what is called Hamas.” Hamas and Hezbollah are both on the government’s list of officially designated terrorist organizations.

In a particularly outrageous effort to stymie federal terrorism investigations, AMC produced a pamphlet, “In the Case of the FBI: Know Your Rights!” In an attempt to scare law abiding Muslim Americans into silence, the handout reports that “the FBI is looking for information to use against you, your family and/or your community. The FBI has a history of harassing and harming minority and immigrant communities. Some people are spending a long time in jail because they or their friends talked to the FBI.” It comes as no surprise that Sami al-Arian’s National Coalition to Protect Political Freedom is a coauthor of the pamphlet.

Faisal tells supporters that at the time he worked for the AMC, Alamoudi didn’t seem to be actively involved. But if Alamoudi is telling newspapers that he is directing the outreach to political leaders in 2000, it’s somewhat difficult to accept that he would be uninterested in the outreach efforts to political leadership the following year when Faisal Gill is coordinating meetings between the AMC leadership and members of congress. The New York Sun reported in 2003 that now convicted terrorist Abdurahman Alamoudi really never left the American Muslim Council, but simply withdrew as it’s public face, and at that time Alamoudi was chairing the AMC’s Imam Conference, which seems rather inconsistent with the idea that Alamoudi was no longer involved in the organization. Daniel Pipes provides more detail.

Faisal Gill chose to work for the AMC in 2001. At best, that was not a good decision.

Sounds like the AMC was advising people on their constitutional rights. Nothing wrong with that.

Some people take great offense to my exercising my 2nd Amendment Rights. Screw them.

AMC is advising people about their rights in the same way that the NRA advises its members about their rights.

I assume that if one of my colleagues at work is committing a crime, I’m supposed to know about it? I don’t get the logic.

Is there any proof that Faisal Gill knew about Amoodi’s words or actions? If so, I think that would be the smoking gun.

Otherwise this is all smoke without any fire.

“”"Sounds like the AMC was advising people on their constitutional rights. Nothing wrong with that.”"”

That is simply false. The AMC was telling Moslems NOT TO TALK to the FBI. It wasn’t simply saying that you have a right to remain silent. It was saying that YOU SHOULD REMAIN SILENT.

Here is the full quote, as found in the 12/17/03 edition of the American Spectator:

    “”"
If the crack research team at the FBI had looked at the AMC website in the aftermath of September 11, however, this is what it would have found under the heading, The Law Says You Don’t Have to Talk to the FBI: “The FBI is looking for information to use against you, your family and/or your community. The FBI has a history of harassing and harming minority and immigrant communities. Some people are spending a long time in jail because they or their friends talked to the FBI.…FBI agents are trained to get you to make incomplete or contradictory statements — which later can be used against you in court. It is better to say nothing.”
    “”"”

It amazes me how low the English reading comprehension level is among many of Faisal’s supporters. I am certain that even after reading the above quote some Faisal Kool-Aid drinker is going to post here and, contrary to all reason and logic, insist that the American Muslim Council merely told Moslems that they could be silent if they wanted to. NO THEY DIDN”T! The AMC told Moslems that they should be silent: “It is better to say nothing.”

I left out the URL for the 12/17/07 American Spectator article about Alamoudi and Gill’s American Muslim Council, which was entitled “Eyes Wide Shut.” An apt metaphor to describe some of Faisal’s Kool-Aid drinkers.

    http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=5916

However, some of Faisal’s acolytes like Kopko, Gill, Bolling and Lingamfelter know more than they let on. They have received cash from Gill, $13,750 in the case of Bolling.

Bolling et al are selling out Virginians and our safety for trifling amounts. A $13,750 contribution from Gill to Bolling would not even tempt an honest person.

You asked for proof that Faisal Gill knew about Alamoudi’s words. Here is your smoking gun.

“”"On October 28, 2000, Alamoudi boldly addressed a cheering crowd in Lafayette Park, near the White House: “I have been labeled by the media in New York to be a supporter of Hamas.… Anybody support Hamas here? (Cheers) Hear that, Bill Clinton? We are all supporters of Hamas. I wish they added that I am also a supporter of Hezballah.…I want you to send a message. It’s an occupation, stupid….Hamas is fighting an occupation. It’s a legal fight.”

When these comments were reported in the Washington Post, political contributions were returned, and Alamoudi was forced to take a back seat in the AMC.”"”

I left out the last part of the above quote. The final paragraph should be:

“”"When these comments were reported in the Washington Post, political contributions were returned, and Alamoudi was forced to take a back seat in the AMC. By all accounts, however, he remained in control and kept a busy schedule. According to the SITE Institute, “In January 2001, Alamoudi attended and was photographed in Beirut at a terrorist summit, alongside representatives of the terrorist groups Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezballah, and al-Qaeda.” “”"

The problem with Gill’s story is that it is inconsistent. When Alamoudi took a back seat he officially left the Board of the American Muslim Council. That was in late 2000.

Gill claims that Gill started work at the AMC in April 2001. Gill claims that his contacts with Alamoudi at the AMC were the result of Alamoudi being on the AMCs board.

But ALAMOUDI WAS NOT ON THE AMCs BOARD! He was running things at the AMC, but he was not on the board. So why was Faisal Gill meeting with Alamoudi?

Gill should tell us accurately what Alamoudi’s role was at the AMC.

Only thing you are doing here is making more and more muslims realize that they must vote for MR. Gill. Thank you.

By the way, there is no such word as “moslem”, its muslim.

    Oldie,

You must not be very old. Or you didn’t pay attention in school. Muslim is actually a fairly recent spelling in the US.

And I think that the American MOSLEM Foundation would be surprised to learn that they don’t exist according to you:

    http://www.oz.net/~msarram/introduction.html

In case you’d actually like to learn something, read this:

    Is it Muslim or Moslem?

When Baby Boomers were children it was Moslem. The American Heritage Dictionary (1992) noted, “Moslem is the form predominantly preferred in journalism and popular usage. Muslim is preferred by scholars and by English-speaking adherents of Islam.” No more. Now, almost everybody uses Muslim.

According to the Center for Nonproliferation Studies, “Moslem and Muslim are basically two different spellings for the same word.” But the seemingly arbitrary choice of spellings is a sensitive subject for many followers of Islam. Whereas for most English speakers, the two words are synonymous in meaning, the Arabic roots of the two words are very different. A Muslim in Arabic means “one who gives himself to God,” and is by definition, someone who adheres to Islam. By contrast, a Moslem in Arabic means “one who is evil and unjust” when the word is pronounced, as it is in English, Mozlem with a z.

For others, this spelling differentiation is merely a linguistic matter, with the two spellings a result of variation in transliteration methods. Both Moslem and Muslim are used as nouns. But some writers use Moslem when the word is employed as an adjective.

Journalists switched to Muslim from Moslem in recent years under pressure from Islamic groups. But the use of the word Moslem has not entirely ceased. Established institutions which used the older form of the name have been reluctant to change. The American Moslem Foundation is still the American Moslem Foundation (much as the NAACP is still the NAACP–the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). The journal The Moslem World–published by the Hartford Seminary in Connecticut–is still The Moslem World.

C’mon That’s not proof of anything!! The existence of a press article is no proof that Faisal Gill read that article… or heard the comments directly.

The real smoking gun would be Faisal Gill making recorded statements at that time defending or acknowledging Alamoudi’s words. Unfortunately, without that, we can’t pin this on Faisal (as much as I would like to!!)

I never said Gill heard Alamoudi’s comments directly. That is irrelevant.

It wasn’t one article. Alamoudi’s comments were all over the media. Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush gave back their Alamoudi contributions. Alamoudi went on 60 Minutes to explain himself.

Read in The 20 year Plan why Gill wants to be Delegate.

    1. Terminate America’s freedom of speech by replacing it with statewide and nationwide hate-crime bills.

Keith Ellison, first Muslim elected to Congress requested he take his oath on the Quran. For Muslims, the Quran is a higher calling than the Constitution of the United States.

    7. Yell ”foul, out-of-context, personal interpretation, hate crime, Zionist, un- American, inaccurate interpretation of the Quran” anytime Islam is criticized or the Quran is analyzed in the public arena.

Read about The 20-year Plan. Muslims say they will control America by 2020 and are told to cry Bigot, to play on our weakness.

    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=33898

What does this mean? In 2020, Jews in America will face another Holocaust and Christians will either be converted to Islam or killed.

Before you vote for GILL on June 2nd, seriously think about the risk you’re taking and ask yourself, is it really worth it? Hell no!
