... Aly Abuzaakouk spent a lot of time on Capitol Hill before the 9/11 terrorist attacks. As head of the Washington-based American Muslim Council, he lobbied both the Senate and House of Representatives to repeal the government's use of undisclosed evidence against suspected Middle Eastern terrorists in deportation proceedings. And targeting foreign policy, he lobbied against U.S. sanctions on Iraq, while pushing for the creation of a Palestinian state.

After 9/11, however, Abuzaakouk spent a lot of time defending Islam. He could not have managed the challenging new task without the assistance of his close aide Faisal Gill, who even helped him coax an apology out of former U.S. Rep. John Cooksey for intemperate remarks the Louisiana Republican made about Arab men wearing "diapers" on their heads. The young lawyer, who also lobbied to end the use of secret terror evidence, served as the American Muslim Council's director of governmental affairs at the time.

Today Gill is policy director for the Department of Homeland Security's intelligence division, where he has access to top-secret data concerning the vulnerability of America's seaports, refineries, nuclear plants, and other facilities to terrorist attacks.

In applying for the sensitive post, however, Gill conveniently left out the fact he worked for the American Muslim Council. The Muslim advocacy group has been under scrutiny in the government's investigation of terrorism financing, led by a special agent who reports to a bureau within Homeland Security. AMC was founded by confessed terrorist Abdurahman Alamoudi. At the time Gill worked there, Alamoudi still controlled the organization, investigators say. ...

If he is a Muslim, I would not at all be surprised if he is radical. I remember Grover as far back as his College Republcian days and he was definitely one of those "end justifies the means" guys...no matter what those means might be.

"""neither Jack Abramoff nor Grover Norquist nor Dana Rohrabacher are “radical Muslims.”""

Actually, Grover Norquist may have converted to Islam as a result of his marriage to a Palestinian woman. When asked if he is a Moslem Norquist won't answer. That doesn't mean that he is a Moslem, but it is certainly possible.

He can be whatever religion he wants, but Norquist allied himself with the most radical members of the Moslem community, including the now-imprisoned terrorists Sami Al-Arian and Abdurahman Alamoudi.

For more on what Norquist, who attended Faisal Gill's campaign kickoff, is up to read "A Troubling Influence" by Frank Gaffney in the 12/9/03 edition of FrontPage magazine.

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=11209

My point is, I would not categorically state that Grover Norquist is not a radical Muslim. There is probably a 25 percent chance of it. It is 50-50 that Norquist is a Moslem. Given his associations with and defenses of Alamoudi and Al-Arian, I am being kind in saying that there is only a 50 percent chance that if Norquist is a Moslem he is a radical.

For the 2:42 pm question:

This is the United States Senate Office of Public Records:

http://sopr.senate.gov/

Click on access the US Lobby Report ...

Then click on Registrant Name, click go, then fill in AG Consulting in the box and click go. When AG Consulting returns, click it. You will see a variety of paperwork filed to indicate lobbying for the General Council of Islamic Banks.

There may be other places to find this info, too, but that's where I found it.

But Norquist IS married to one, that is if Wikipedia is to be trusted, and for that reason (on face value) he is showing allegiance. Also, Robert Hanson was not Russian, but that did not stop him from selling secrets to them for his benefit.

Fact is, as Greg and others have said (to include Faisal himself), Faisal advertises himself in this latest flyer as a lobbyist. The big question is, did Faisal approve this flyer? If not, then it would behoove him to discredit it, not to mention correct the OBVIOUS grammar errors.

When following one of your links, Greg, a VERY interesting quote is mentioned:

"When the Muslim College, a London-based center of Islamic learning, held a seminar for Muslim, Christian and Jewish conservatives, the participants had a shock of self-recognition, says Zaki Badawi, an Egyptian religious scholar who heads the college. Suddenly, they realized they shared attitudes and world views. Whatever their stripe, fundamentalists are absolutists at heart, says Badawi. 'They don t like to hear other ideas at all. They want to hear their own voice, and are suspicious of anyone else's.'"

Now mind you I am a VERY strong Conservative (please go to vpap.org and look me up) but not the one who puts issues before values. If there is something that I find that my party, the Republican Party, supports that I just cannot or will not support (be it for religious reasons or other), then the Party takes 2nd place. I will not compromise my values for money or popularity.

Speaking of vpap.org, they have a link now where you can look up Lobbyists in the State of Virginia and guess who is missing???

So if he wasn't lobbying, then he lied in that mailer? James, I can't see any reasonable conclusions outside of he either lied in the mailer, or violated lobbying disclosure laws and may be subject to substantial civil penalties.

I think there's substantial evidence that while Abramoff, Norquist and Rohrabacher are not radical muslims, they've worked on behalf of, or alongside of those who are.

Or, maybe he hasn't done any lobbying?

And BTW, neither Jack Abramoff nor Grover Norquist nor Dana Rohrabacher are "radical Muslims." In fact, Abramoff appears to be an observant Jew.
