Interesting, I went to Virginia Virtucon via the hyperlink you, "Riley, Not O'Reilly" provided, and at the VERY bottom of the page, I found something that will stifle a lot of debate.

It has been said that no one knew if Julie was going to be running or not for the 51st, yet, at the VERY bottom of your link provided (http://virginiavirtucon.wordpress.com/?s=faisal+gill) it states "Word is that Neabsco School Board Member Julie Lucas and attorney Faisal Gill are both considering jumping in the race for McQuigg’s HOD seat."

Mind you, that quote was posted on December 1, 2006!!! While I may not AGREE with some portions of those articles, I felt that it was overall balanced and very well written.

Good job.

Heck, all they would have to have done was enter Faisal's name in the Virtucon search function and they would have seen we weren't players in it.

That's weird that Virtucon was mentioned because we've purposely shied away from any controversy involving either GOP candidate. The only thing we've reported on were the delegate filings.

Several years ago I and other 8th District residents discussed whether we could get someone to run against U.S. Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) in an 8th District primary. (Andy Rosenberg did, but independently of us.)

We discussed someone who had lost in a run for the state legislature. Someone answered wisely that a candidate has lost in a campaign for a lesser office he is not likely to do well in a compaign for a higher office.

Brian Moran states in the Post that he discussed Dion's candidacy. Brian said that he did not ask Dion not to run. However, he did express concern that Dion had lost in a campaign for county supervisor, which to me at least is a lesser office than Delegate.

Dion could have overcome the gay stuff in most Northern Virginia districts. Del. Adam Ebbin is openly gay, as is Arlington Council member Jay Fisette and I believe some guy on the Alexandria City Council.

But Dion had other flaws that, when combined with gayness, together were likely to prevent him from winning, even if he ran against Faisal Gill.

You know, lost in all of this is the fact that Jeff doesn't know how to campaign and he consistently listens to the wrong people (Jenkins, Barg, Pandak, etc.). He refused to work with Party leadership during his Supervisor race debacle, and from what I hear, was ignoring PWCDC chairman Pete Frisbie during this abbreviated run.

Listening to the DINOs, posting a gay.com profile, getting obliterated last Fall in his Sup race, and pure strategic and tactical campaign faults, disqualified him as a viable candidate. Unfortunately, we are now left with the media inferring that this is a gay issue when in reality it was a lack of competence.
