Exposing More Lies

Let’s turn again to the campaign for the Republican nomination for Sheriff of Prince William County for a moment. Another group of supporters of a candidate who have been particularly troublesome and have engaged in a persistent campaign to recklessly spread deliberate lies promoted by candidate Mike Messier. Mr. Messier has steadfastly asserted that Sheriff Glen Hill has raised spending in the Sheriff’s Department to nine million dollars annually despite the fact that publicly available documents from Prince William County’s website prove that the current budget of the Sheriff’s office is currently $7.1 million, down from $7.2 million this fiscal year. This is your “honest man” for Sheriff, supposedly.
Major John Collier, who is Sheriff Hill’s Chief Deputy and admittedly a partisan in this race has been very good about providing me with access to physical evidence which documents his stories about Lee Stoffregen’s notorious sale of law enforcement credentials in exchange for campaign contributions. He shared with me the following:
[Mike Messier], who had the opportunity to expose the corruption when he was here, chose to conspire and enable illegal and unethical practices. The latter’s dubious campaign practices, including covertly obtaining confidential mailing lists for purposes of solicitation, and deliberately using false information, bring into question his legitimacy. But when he was interviewed by Hill, he admitted that he knew these “unethical” practices were occurring (i.e selling badges) but said “ We were just taking his money for a badge… there wasn’t anything I could do about it except quit.” As a leader, or as he claims the guy running the show, how can he claim he is an honest man?
This is one of the most bizarre races I have ever seen.

Oh my God!! Somebody other than Hill is going to believe

I had a chance to visit with Major Collier and talk with him about the badge issue. He was happy to show me documentation, and allowed me to inspect the badges and associated credentials which had been seized. I have no basis to believe he has done anything other than tell the truth, and he has been meticulous about documenting the claims he has made to me.
But go ahead and call him a liar if you want. You may have noticed what happened to the last guy who went down that path, however…
John Collier is an honest man, and a dedicated LEO. Best of all, he’s never been part of a corrupt department. Messier can’t say the same.
Of course Messier knew what was going on. He was part and parcel of it.
When this primary is over, Messier and Fotis will be crying like Paris Hilton on her way back to jail.

Messier is still a mess thats not changed,why would anyone serious ever even run with his record, Just sad.
Messier cant even carry Major Colliers jock, in ever aspect.

Greg, as anti-cop as you appear to be, it strikes me as pretty
unusual that Collier would be so open-door with you. For that
matter, it’s surprising that Hill would even associate with you
because of your anti-cop position.
Like I said in the beginning intro into this Blog, Mike Messier was a good man who got in over his head working for a corrupt sheriff. Life is about choices. He chose to check his ethics at the door and follow the leader right off the bridge. Now here we are 4 years later and we are supposed to forget it ever happened? The Fotis camp managed to turn a 2 horse race into a Circus. Fotis really never had a chance, even with his last minute ploy to send those cut throat fliers. Unfortunately for Fotis, the only throat that got cut was his. Mr. Fotis, your staff kept you ill advised on the subject of how to run a clean and successful campaign. The good news is that you are not anyone that we will remember in two weeks time. Hope you stashed some of that “war chest” money that your clown IP so proudly bragged about. Take the wife and kids on a much needed vacation. Notice I didn’t say deserved.

The President of the United States gets paid way more than $460 thousand dollar paycheck for four years in office. But thinks for finally agreeing that Glendell dislikes public safety work as much as you do.
Effective January 1, 2001, the annual salary of the president of the United States was increased to $400,000 per year, including a $50,000 expense allowance. Can’t readily find the annual salary of the PWC Sheriff online.

What is your backing on the statement that Sheriff Hill doesn’t like public safety. He has been doing it for over 30 years….am I missing something here? Why are you and only you hung up on the Sheriff’s salary. Do you know that he took a paycut fwhen he left the jail to become the Sheriff? Go to the Virginia State Compensation Board website and get yourself educated, because you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about….

If that’s the case Anonymous (is it Anonymous from VA Beach or Ohio), then how do you justify that $460K figure…pull it out of your glutius maximus? We’ve been through this before, and established that this “salary” you keep quoting needs to be divided by 4 years…and he hasn’t even gotten all of it yet. Anybody can do the math. And if you think that this is a fortune, especially for this area, you haven’t managed to do much with your life, have you? Losing that deputy job must have really hurt.
The Superintendant of the PWC/Manassas Regional Jail makes more than Prince William County Sheriff. That’s the paycut that Glen Hill took to become the Sheriff.

I have read and re-read all of these posts. What disturbs me most is not the obvious lies and spins, but comments from Anonymous about his experience with Charlie Deane. Seems like he is sincere.
He also seems to relate to Messier, calling him the unwitting “victim” [my words] of Stofferegen. No doubt Stoffy used and abuse him, but he did have a choice – he could have honored his oath of office ( I assume he took one as most cops must do) and did the right thing which was to expose the thief. He chose to be less of a man and cower to the almighty “man in charge”.
The empathy shown has a clear root – if Anonymous was indeed one of Deane’s boys, he also chose to not expose him but cower until retirement. Only now, under cover of a blog, is he speaking of things long past that should have been exposed to the public. What hold remains on him that he is unwilling to challenge the wrongs he speaks of? I worry that there are no warriors left to do the right thing. Anonymous, you do have a choice- make the right one….Bring the issues you seem to carry heavily out to the BOCS or the County Manager -
I disagree with old good time Charlie about Hill – I see nothing to suggest Hill is controlled by anybody other than the voters – Deane cannot fire him, or can anybody else, really. Seems like what some call projection – He is projecting what he perceives as the evils of Deane onto Hill because they are both the man in charge. Hill may make a lot of money – he is an executive and executives often get paid well – why make that an issue? From what I see, Hill hasn’t lied yet – the others have done nothing but lie. He should be re-elected.
I’m not getting any polling data on this race, but so far it looks like it’s going to be a pretty strong Hill win. My best guess is that Hill will pull in about 50% and Messier will come in with about 40%, followed by Fotis at 10%.
I could be quite bit off on this, as all of the campaigns are running their own operations and not pulling in a lot of support from the county committee. Usually when they do my intel gets a lot better, since I’ll hear more about what’s going on. I pretty much have no inside view of any of the campaigns at this point, which makes it pretty hard for me to reliably predict what’s happening.
One things that seems interesting is that the battleground seems to be in the western side of the county, as there’s a lot of focus there. I think Glen is pretty strong on the eastern side, and if it’s been neglected somewhat by the other candidates it could be a landslide for Hill. If Hill pulls 70-80% in Woodbridge, Occoquan, Coles and Dumfries, it’s all over, as he will pull at least 40% or so in the western districts.

I think it’s going to be more like 60% Hill with the other two in a race for the basement. Actually, I’m inclined to predict that Fotis will win that race, and come in dead last.
JasonCW, here’s ONE of Hill’s big lies: in his flier I just rec’d,
he states that Messier is being endorsed by Stoffregen..that is
so desperate, it’s not even funny. Stoffy is still in the position
to have benefitted Messier a lot, but Messier has chosen to
not go there. Period. If Hill means that because Stoffy is not
endorsing him then he MUST be endorsing Messier! That is
Hill’s logic. For all we know, Stoffregen may be endorsing
Fotis. Who cares?
Campaign contribution SBE reports puts Stofferegn as Messier’s biggest cash contributor. Lee has also sent letter to people [clients] endorsing Messier, and was seen in Dumfries talking him up - if that ain’t endorsing what is?
All of Fotis’ money has come from out of state - gun runners and the like. He probably has a half dozen people who actually live in the county who might vote for him, unless of course they read this blog and that nit-wit who was hawking him.
So NP, Anonymus, and what ever name Ted has snuck back in under can dribble all you want - honesty should win in all elections

Have you personally seen the report of what Stoffy actually contributed to Messier’s campaign?…Doubt it! This is and has been your mode through out this blog. You profess to know so much but you have no clue about anything concerning this race. I have personally asked you several questions concerning your posts and you have yet to reply to me. One can only assume you have absolutely nothing to back your statements. If you want to blog with everyone here, my advice is you take some lessons from someone willing to deal with you. Doubt that you will find many here. This blog is above your level of intelligence. Stop talking in circles and blog with us concerning the race and why you think your guy is the best for the office. It really is not that difficult.

Well NR, then that was a considerable contribution! You DO realize that Stoffregen had $500,000 in his campaign coffer, largely from the sale of deputy badges, do you not? He only spent about half of that on his last campaign. Right rumor (”I heard”), wrong facts.
And btw NR, you might want to get your facts straight before you rudely suggest someone get their head out of their ass…or someone might just suggest the same thing of you. Oh, what the heck…”get your head out of your ass” (YOUR words).

You have no idea (I hope you don’t) of all the laws that were broken under the old Messier/Stoffregan regime. Kind of weird he’s running…why open yourself to all those investigations?

Thanks - actually, if you would take the time to go to the elections office in Manassas, and ask to see the reports , they will show them to you - no charge. Go and look at Messier’s and look at the first one in 2004, through now and Stofferegen’s contributions add up to over $4,000 in cash - the largest from any single contributor. The next closest two were Reserve Deputies, and they drop off form their.
Of course, these reports and their content are assumed to be the truth because the candidate or their treasurer affirms they are - Hill is the only candidate who has actually signed the forms himself, the other two have used their wives to sign - clears the way for plausable deniability…
So, who’s head is where now ???

I am sensing the same desperation I read in IP’s stuff just prior to his detonation. It is Ok to have an opinion, but the rules for that is we all get one too. I would expect better from a loyal county employee( or team of them).

I looked at those reports too in May, and you are correct. None of this stuff is hard to get - facts I mean. I still am surprised at how some of these people think we are so stupid …

Wow. First time ever to this site. I will just say that I know all the parties being discussed here. (Hill, Collier, Messier and Stroffregen) I’ve known all of them a lot of years. Mike Messier started out honest if not a little naive. Stroffregen started out to be a very good Sheriff but this deteriorated quickly with the power. By the time it was all said and done the vast majority of PWC Sheriff employees didn’t even want to come to work. This is no loger true with Hill and Collier in there. This NR poster is so full of himself and has no facts to back up his assertions. And the salary of the Sheriff is public info. Look it up and you’ll see how wrong you are.
The damage done by the Stroffregen admin has taken a long time to fix with the sold badges being one of the worse messes to fix.
