Thin Turnout For The Primary
By Greg L | 12 June 2007 | Prince William County | 24 Comments
Turnout in today’s primary in Prince William was expected to be low, and so far that’s looking to even be somewhat of an overstatement. I ran by three precincts this morning before work, and in each case elections officials could have accounted for over 50% of the votes in all three as of 8:30AM. The highest turnout of the three was Stonewall, with a whopping 12 voters. This is going to be a slow day.
In two of three precincts there were poll workers for Mike Messier, although they have likely left by now. No other campaigns had poll workers, although all three had yard signs for all the candidates. With a very low voter turnout, strange things can happen.
When you go to vote, note what number voter you are as they check you off, and put in your precinct and that number in the comments.

Oh…this isn’t good. That turnout is way too low.
Can people report in today and say what number voter you are out of how many registered?
Under 10 percent turnout always means trouble.
At 6:30 I was the 6th vote in Hayden precinct in Manassas. As I recall from the past several elections, we usually get about 1/3 of our voters by 9:00.
There was nobody there from any campaign.
My wife and I voted at Chinn around 8:30 this morning. There were signs for Messier and Hill outside but no poll workers. We were the 11th and 12th person to vote since 6 this morning.
I was number 16 at Baldwin precinct at about 9:00
As of 8 AM, there were 10 voters at Potomac out of over 4,000 registered.
Just voted in the City; no Fotis presence whatsover; one worker, for Glen. Hill wins with 60%. You heard it here first.
I was the 40th voter at Henderson in Montclair at 9. I thought this was very low.
Report from Haydon: 105 voters at noon, turnout better than expected.
I worked at Haydon polls this morning…no sign whatsoever of Fotis…and just an over abundance of signs for Messier….the crowd was there for Hill…alot of Dems…

I was at Benton Precinct, which is the second largest precinct and most reliably Republican precinct in Coles District, all morning. At 12:30, there were 41 voters. I am told that Woodbine, which is the largest precinct in the district and the second most reliably Republican, had 50 voters at 12:30.
I’m glad I had a magazine.
