Principi Tiptoes Towards The Meat Grinder

By Greg L | 13 June 2007 | Prince William County | 4 Comments

With Frank Principi solidly defeating George Delimba in yesterday’s Democratic primary in Woodbridge, it seems that the Barg/Jenkins faction (identified internally as the “segregationist democrats”) are still the power center among Prince William County Democrats. No wonder then that “Team Roemmelt” seems to be completely adrift, without money, and entirely lacking in exposure.

But some democrats seem to be upbeat, as Principi cements his connections with Hilda Barg as her chosen inheritor in today’s Manassas Journal-Messenger:

Principi who was endorsed by Hilda M. Barg, D-Woodbridge, said he heard that people in the district wanted Barg’s legacy to continue.

Yeah, right. Barg has done such a wonderful job for Woodbridge that she got smoked by then-political neophyte Jeff Frederick in a general election and needed DPVA to chase off all of her challengers for the party’s nomination in that race for the 52nd District, House of Delegates. Barg’s legacy is one of out-of-control development, higher taxes and coddling illegal aliens.

Great campaign theme, Frank. This is going to be fun.

Yeah, Frank won with 463 votes to 216 for Delimba. Not a heck of a lot at all. We’ll have to see how much cash Principi burned through to get the nod while Royse was sitting on his.

Principi is serving as the Chairman of the PWC Futures Commission 2030 which is a 16 person appointed committee that is touring the county holding focus groups. He is getting plenty of exposure because of it county wide.

Should have been our GOP rock star Chris Royse. One thing is for sure, no one can accuse our Republican Chairman Stewart of offering preferential treatment to his fellow GOPs!

Got smoked? Didn’t Jeff win by 250 votes?

I’ll be looking forward to seeing “more of the same” in the upcoming year(s) with Principi in control! I can’t say I was overly impressed by his presence on election day, but found the rest of his family quite congenial; especially Betty & Cesar. Prior to election day, I got the feeling everyone had enough of Barg… But I guess not! Change is never easy, as they say, and people tend to fight change, no matter how necessary! Let’s stave off the “change” for now and slug along at the “same ole/same ole”. I am convinced that George would have made some critically needed changes to get things back on track! But… we’ll have to postpone all that while Frank puts on Barg’s puppet strings and gets to work (under her thumb)! I would be very favorably surprised if he were able to do much else. People obviously wanted more of the Barg regime, and now they’re going to get it! Roll up your sleeves Frank, I’m sure Barg’s got plans for you! Good Luck to you & all the residents of PWC… I doubt there will be many benefitial changes in the near future. All we can do now is to ride this one out!
