I’m out of town until Monday and not able to check in very often, so if there’s anything happening, here’s the place to discuss. Looks like a lot is happening with the Senate’s shamnesty bill, some movement on the 51st District convention appeal is possible, and HMI caved to free speech concerns and relented on their prohibition of political and advocacy organizations from having tables at the July 4th celebration.

Until recently, I was unfamliar with former Senator Fred Thompson.
After hearing speeches from the other presidential candidates I was disappointed to not have heard more on illegal immigration. Then I heard an interview with Fred Thompson. This man not only gets it but is willing to do whatever it takes to stop it. He is expected to announce his candidacy on July 4th. I am looking forward to meeting him and hopefully it will be here in Prince William County.
Julie Lucas supporters still have their signs up in Lake Ridge - over a week after the election. I know their were problems at the convention but Lucas has not been graceful in defeat.
Brigand, I believe she has 2 weeks (10 business days) to get the signs picked up…and, if they’re on private property, that’s very much up to the homeowners.
This link has to do with the failure of our Government protecting the innocent AMERICAN! I can’t believe President Bush can sit there on Penn Ave and think that giving amnesty to illegals, who are breaking our laws, is anywhere near okay to the American citizens.

It’s bad enough when horrible things are done by Americans. It’s unacceptable when an illegal does it, for the simple fact that they have no right to be here in the first place.
Lucas should instruct her supporters to take down their signs.
By all means, Julie Lucas should certainly direct private property owners in regard to what to do on their own property.
Grow up. Literally.
“Virginia” - um, Julie actually WON the election. How about you take out your calculator and do the math, then, you can walk over to Stewart, Kopko, etc. and show them how Julie actually won and that if Tom would stop dragging his feet and correct the numbers.
Oh, “Virginia”, I think you showed the world what “class” you have with the following quote from your website:
“You are a punkass if you still have a Julie Lucas for Delegate sign in your yard.”
As “anon” said, “Grow up.”
You know…now that this primary election is over, I’ve reflected some. There’s been a healthy back and forth over nominations (insert 51st comments here). Having been involved in campaigns in Prince William since I was a kid (1975), but not since 2003 as James Young is so quick to remind, I have to say if we look past the intense bickering, we have a big, healthy diverse Republican Party in Prince William. Think about it. We have the highest ranking African American GOP officeholder in the DC Metro area. We have a dominance in local offices and legislative seats.
Breaking a huge barrier, our own Harry Parrish finally gave us a Republican Delegate, after he worked for years to get Byrd Democrats to run as GOP candidates as well — opening the door for so many in NOVA to run for Delegate as Republicans. After that, we always had contested GOP campaigns in PWC — they saw the party on the upswing.
Fastforward to now. Our only problem is that we, as Republicans, like to scrap too much personally. It’s getting beyond healthy because a lot of people just don’t know how we got here. Some try to say it’s us “conservatives” vs. “those moderates” …particularly when there is a fight over procedure, and chosen candidates……whatever.
The point is, it’s never over issues. I remember when the conservative movement was over issues….and the heart and soul of the party. Not here in 2007 in Prince William County –not in our current circumstances. Here in PWC now it’s about who one can “control” or who will help one’s “power.” To say you disagree over ANYTHING…is to say you are a party turncoat or worse a “moderate” in the eyes of those in charge of the PWCGOP..or gadfly hanger’s-on.
I’ve just concluded recently, those holding the reins of the PWCGOP in the name of the conservative movement are just putting that movement in reverse.
Hmmm…. now that you mention it, I probably should have a Julie Lucas sign up in my yard too.

Just Neighbors will provide an overview of current immigration law. The goal will be to provide the faith-based community with an immigration context to better understand both the immigrants we serve as well as the daily news. We will examine the different statuses of immigrants in the United States– from green card holders to individuals without documentation–and the various benefits and options available to each group. We will also explain how Just Neighbors’ immigration attorneys can serve low-income individuals needing immigration legal assistance. Finally, we will explore how any new federal legislation may affect immigrants and service providers
in this country.
Great…more enablers.
Looks like Vallium needs to be educated about Help Save Manassas. I guess he is one of those who live in an upscale neighborhood isolated from illegal aliens. Wait till someone in his family gets hit by an “undocumented immigrant” driving DUI.
Someone should help Mrs. Caddigan and Mr. Stewart mend fences. I read in the paper that she is so upset with Mr. Stewart that she is actually endorsing a democrat. Imagine that. If someone is reading this that lives in her district, maybe they should give her a phone call.
Con Valliam-
What legal advice do you give to “undocumented workers” AKA,
illegal aliens? Maybe ICE should be aware of this meeting you are having.
“Understanding Immigrants U.S. Statuses

One benefit apparently is that you can vote in PWCGOP nominating conventions and nobody will check your status. How nice.
“Just Neighbors” should speak out against the illegal aliens that are trashing our communities. Soiled diapers, empty Corona bottles, empty Goya cans, Mcdonald wrappers, on our sidewalks and streets…!!!!! Now its pushcarts and what sort of stuff the illegals are peddling…including transmitting infectious diseases we thought were all but eradicated in our country. I lived in third world country for for 20 years and if Americans don’t do something NOW to stop the infestation of illegal aliens…be forewarned….call, e-mail, fax your senators relentlessly and tell them NO on amnesty for illegals….we cannot let this travesty of an immigration bill pass…Bush has failed the American people terribly on this matter.
We need to visit the senate. Two Virginia senators are on the fence. Many other senators can be swayed.
Just park at union station in DC and the senate is only five minutes away. You will renew your sense of patriotism, get to see the Capitol and do some good for the country by persuading these senators to vote against the amnesty bill.
Many liberal activists are walking the senate hallways right now and have been doing so for a month.
We need to do the same.
Many hundreds of thousands of immigrants legally seeking citizenship in the United States are hopelessly backlogged at any number of federal agencies responsible for processing their paperwork. Many more untold thousands more are patiently waiting their turn in line for visas at foreign embassies. Is there any reason to believe that if our government can’t even process these legal immigrant applications that it already has, that suddenly making millions of illegal aliens eligible overnight will magically solve all the problems causing the backlogs? Maybe the Just Neighbors Ministry would do all immigrants a service by helping the federal government clear up the backlogs first and give the deserving new arrivals a reward for playing by the rules.
Charles, why is Faisal Gill’s law firm advertising its willingness to file asylum petitions for illegal aliens awaiting deportation? Shouldn’t the illegal aliens have petitioned for asylum when they first entered the US, instead of when they are about to be deported?
What part of “illegal” does Gill and Gallinger not understand? Why is Gill and Gallinger advertising among illegal aliens with pending deportation orders that they evade deportation based upon UNITED NATIONS rather than US law.
From http://www.gillgallinger.com/practice_immigration.asp
“”"We can also help you apply for Withholding of Removal (allowing you stay in
the U.S. when otherwise eligible for deportation) and gaining protection based on the
United Nations Convention Against Torture.
Deportation/RemovalEven if you or your loved one is already in the process of being removed from the U.S.,
Gill & Gallinger may be able to help. We can help you qualify for protection from
deportation based on Cancellation of Removal, Waiver of Deportation, Asylum, or other
methods. Time is extremely important in situations dealing with possible removal, so
contact the Gill & Gallinger today for a free consultation.”"”
Yeah! Gill will be a good one for creating laws against illegal aliens. I’m sure he’ll vote for Jackson Miller’s legislation if he wins the 51st seat.
From what I hear, HSM will find someone to run against him. Someone willing to do something about illegal aliens in the area. I hope that’s true!
Jonathan, I’m not that Charles who is involved with Mr. Gill. I’m a different Charles. Thank you for surfacing this information. You are doing the voters of the 51st a service. I agree with you that this approach by Gill and Gallinger needs to be looked into.
You may want to pick a different name to use when posting, as someone by that name used to visit regularly and has somewhat of a history. The confusion is likely to end up causing you some trouble.
Charles, just add the first initial of your last name (as long as it’s not a R…that would perpetuate the problem).
Thanks so much for the heads up. I have gotten some pretty wierd responses when I have posted on some of the local blogs lately. Must be why. Cheers
To the gentleman who thinks yard signs make a damn bit if difference in ANY election: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
you’re a real trip!
