Jackson Miller’s Stunning Kickoff

By Greg L | 29 June 2007 | Illegal Aliens, 50th HOD District | 4 Comments

Delegate Jackson Miller had a tremendous campaign kickoff tonight with well over 200 people in attendance in a standing-room-only crowd that came to hear featured speaker Ron Maxwell. Ron is a truly gifted and passionate speaker on the subject of illegal aliens, and gave a tremendous speech. I hope to get a copy of that speech in the near future and be able to share it with readers.

Manassas City Mayor Doug Waldron emceed with his usual excellence, and Delegates Lingamfelter and Marshall both gave rousing speeches about how important it is for Delegate Miller to be re-elected. Then Ron Maxwell, the director of “Gettysburg”, a somewhat unassuming figure came up and read his speech with the kind of professional skill that shows what hanging around actors and telling them how to do their job does for one’s public speaking ability. He was phenomenal, not only for how he delivered his statements, but for what he said.

I’m already getting emails from other attendees, and here’s what one of them wrote to me after attending:

I’m sure you were as inspired tonight by the words of Ron Maxwell as was I. Mr. Maxwell’s oratorical prose elevated us, transcending the everyday rhetoric of TV’s talking heads and radio’s talk show hosts. Tonight, he lifted his audience and drew us into his vision of America. His is a vision I heartily endorse, and only wish I had half of his eloquence.

With his portrait of three-dimensional and one-dimensional (present tense) people, Mr. Maxwell clearly revealed the core of our nation’s problem. We live for the momentary pleasure, with minimal thought toward the future. Out of wedlock births, abortions, broken marriages, addictions, and a myriad of human dysfunctionalities now attend our lives. These are the fruits of a visionless people.

We are presently rallied by a scourge that is touching all of our lives. We are finally fighting back. But how long can we sustain this movement with only the motive of self-defense? I submit that our mission must be undergirded by an even grander vision. Mr. Maxwell seeded that vision tonight.

We once were a nation of citizens, united and bound together with a common vision, a common dream, common sacrifices, and a common language. Following WWII, we gradually morphed into a nation of individual consumers. So consumer oriented are we now, that many of our large “box” stores hang signage in both English and Spanish.

Damn the culture. Let’s make money.

It was one of the best presentations I have ever seen on this subject, and I’ve seen some great speakers talk about this subject including several presidential candidates, including Tom Tancredo. Mr. Maxwell is definitely qualified to be in this league of passionate advocates who seek to preserve America.

Jackson had the unenviable job of following Mr. Maxwell, and although there are a lot of issues that confront Virginia, in the 50th District illegal aliens is the top issue. He continued with that focus, and explained to us how important it was that one of the leaders in the General Assembly who is pushing this issue the hardest be re-elected, lest those less committed view his replacement with an illegal alien apologist convince them that this issue is an electoral loser. If you are really concerned about the presence of illegal aliens in Virginia, Jackson Miller absolutely deserves your support.

This was a great event, and all of you who got rained out at Jimmy Buffet or suffered through the NVTA meeting really missed something special.

UPDATE: Joe at NovaTownHall was there as well and has an excellent post on this with excerpts of Ron Maxwell’s speech.

I thought Jackson’s kick-off went very well. Ron was just outstanding and did bring a new perspective and angle to the illegal immigration problem. The next time you are at the grocery store pick up a box of crackers or some other product from Nabisco, Kraft(parent company of Nebesco, or now even Hershey chances are that product is either made in Mexico or Canada. Yet, all we here is that we need more workers to come here illegally to do jobs that Americans do not want to do.

Yet, many corporations are exporting jobs at a very fast pace. There is something terribly wrong when we are unable to produce even the most basic food products in this Country. I called Kraft to ask why so many of their products are now made outside of the Country, and the response I was given was to keep up with the competition. Yet, just how many types of crackers and cookies that are sold in the local grocery store are made in a foreign Country? Kraft does not have to compete with a company from Canada or a company from Mexico. They have to compete with a company right here in the United States. But, that apparently does not make enough money for Kraft, so they shipped jobs to Mexico or Canada. Ron hit the nail on the head in his speech last night regarding the path we are quickly going down.

Mr. Maxwell’s speech was phenomenal, speaking to the hearts of all patriots, whatever country they are from.

The weekend is upon us; let us remember to write those thank you’s to Warner & Webb in voting nay on the immigration/amnesty bill, and to write, visit or call our PWC BOC Supervisors to urge their support of John Stirrup’s 6/26 Resolution to enforce VA Codes which will be up for vote on 7/10.

Mr. Maxwell struct all the right cords. It is too bad that speech is not available on DVD. Definitely the high light of the evening, plus the ice cream hit the spot. I hope Jackson got enough cash to carry his message out to the folks in his district.
