Beauchamp’s Finance Report Disasters
18 June 2007 | Prince William County | 15 Comments
Here’s another one of those candidates that appears to have a problem with attention to detail.
Lucy Beuchamp, now running as an independent in the race for Clerk of the Court, has campaign finance reports that are a total disaster. Some payments are listed as being made by two people. Mutually incompatible boxes are checked off […]

I’m out of town until Monday and not able to check in very often, so if there’s anything happening, here’s the place to discuss. Looks like a lot is happening with the Senate’s shamnesty bill, some movement on the 51st District convention appeal is possible, and HMI caved to free speech concerns and relented on […]
What “Justice” Looks Like In The Park
15 June 2007 | Rack & Roll Scandal | Comments Off
It’s not only enraging that the City of Manassas Park engaged in a concerted and unlawful effort to destroy Rack n Roll Billiards and Dave Ruttenberg, but the lengths that the city has gone to to lie about and cover up their unlawful behavior are alternatively comical and stunningly brazen. In “The Raid That […]

Here Come The Indys
15 June 2007 | Prince William County | 23 Comments
And here come the independent candidates, according to the Manassas Journal-Messenger. Desi Arnaiz, who pledged to withdraw if he lost his bid to obtain the Republican nomination, is competing with the Republican endorsee Gil Trenum for the Brentsville seat on the school board. John Gray has filed as an independent against Occoquan Supervisor Mike […]
ACLU Weighs In On Ruttenberg’s Case
14 June 2007 | Rack & Roll Scandal | Comments Off
The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a amicus brief in support of Dave Ruttenberg’s case against the City of Manassas Park. Often, I tend to disagree with some of the things the ACLU does, but in this instance they certainly seem to be making a strong argument in support of what should be […]

Harrisonburg Goes Live With Section 287(g) Program

The Daily News Recorder is reporting that the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department now has five deputies, including two jailers, who have completed training by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement under the Section 287(g) Program and will soon begin processing for deportation criminal illegal aliens who are arrested in the county. Harrisonburg has a significant problem with […]

Send George Bush To Gitmo
13 June 2007 | National Politics, Illegal Aliens | 18 Comments
After reading this over at NovaTownHall, there’s just no way I can deny that George Bush is an utterly horrible president. I have never seen anyone actively attempt to destroy the United States of America in such utter contempt of his oath of office as this man is now doing.

Principi Tiptoes Towards The Meat Grinder
13 June 2007 | Prince William County | 4 Comments
With Frank Principi solidly defeating George Delimba in yesterday’s Democratic primary in Woodbridge, it seems that the Barg/Jenkins faction (identified internally as the “segregationist democrats”) are still the power center among Prince William County Democrats. No wonder then that “Team Roemmelt” seems to be completely adrift, without money, and entirely lacking in exposure.

The Math Error
13 June 2007 | 51st HOD District | 41 Comments
At the 51st District Convention, the elections committee report showed there were more votes than qualified delegates in three precincts. In two of those precincts Faisal Gill won (Lake Ridge and Penn), and in another, Julie Lucas won (Civic Center). When RPV was asked how to address these “overvotes”, their answer was that these precincts […]

13 June 2007 | 51st HOD District, PWCRC | 25 Comments
The war within the PWCRC has apparently expanded into a fight between PWCRC Chairman Tom Kopko and 11th Congressional District Chairman Becky Stoeckel according to a post that appeared yesterday on Skeptical Observer. Kopko’s tirade against Stoeckel, prompted by what is reported to be a call for a meeting to consider Julie Lucas’ appeal […]
Sheriff’s Race Wrap-Up
13 June 2007 | Prince William County | 19 Comments
Yesterday’s primary for Sheriff was a decisive victory for incumbent Glen Hill where he showed strength in all magisterial districts in Prince William County, winning every precinct in Manassas City and Manassas Park, and winning in 61 precincts in Prince William County. The low turnout in this primary election could have produced some surprises, […]
A Primary Funny
12 June 2007 | 31st HOD District, Humor & Satire | 3 Comments
A funny thing happened on the way to the Republican primary election in Fauquier County this past Tuesday. Bill Day, the Democrat candidate running against Republican Scott Lingamfelter was seen going into the polling station at Baldwin Ridge in Fauquier County. Unknown to “Moon Bat Bill”, a Lingamfelter volunteer working at the poll for Jill […]

More to come when precinct data is available. Congratulations to both!
Lucas Files For School Board, Appeals 51st Convention
12 June 2007 | 51st HOD District, Prince William County | 23 Comments
I’ve gotten word that Julie Lucas has filed as a candidate for the Prince William County School Board, and filed her appeal with the 51st Legislative District Committee, which is comprised of Tom Kopko.
The world awaits with baited breath to see what decision Tom Kopko will render. Will he toss Faisal Gill under the bus […]

Will Dumfries Decide The Sheriff’s Race?
12 June 2007 | Prince William County | 5 Comments
In low-turnout primary elections the chance for a surprise upset is considerably high. Today’s Republican primary in Prince William County has an added element of potential surprise in that many districts of the county are only choosing a candidate for Sheriff, whereas Dumfries is also choosing a nominee for county Supervisor. While I haven’t seen […]

Pointless Primary?
12 June 2007 | Prince William County | 14 Comments
While exhorting readers to participate in today’s primary, and providing a lot of very valid reasons for doing so, the Manassas Journal-Messenger nevertheless decapitates it’s own argument with the headline “The pointless primary: a noble duty“. That really ought to encourage voters to go to the polls today.
It’s important, but apparently pointless to participate in […]
Thin Turnout For The Primary
12 June 2007 | Prince William County | 24 Comments
Turnout in today’s primary in Prince William was expected to be low, and so far that’s looking to even be somewhat of an overstatement. I ran by three precincts this morning before work, and in each case elections officials could have accounted for over 50% of the votes in all three as of 8:30AM. The […]

You Want Leprosy With That?
11 June 2007 | Illegal Aliens, Manassas Park, Manassas City, Prince William County | 24 Comments
There’s been an explosion of pushcart vendors in Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County this year selling various foods, enough to gain the attention of Help Save Manassas which recently started an effort to ensure licensing compliance in these jurisdictions. Reports have since flooded in that these vendors are suspected of being illegal aliens […]

RPV: Nosotros Creemos…
11 June 2007 | PWCRC, Virginia Politics | 16 Comments
I’m sure this is going to just make Spanish-speaking voters flood to support the Republican Party of Virginia: The RPV website has posted a Spanish version of the Republican creed. There’s no other Spanish content on the website as far as I can tell, so it’s not clear to me just how those […]
