Connolly Picks Fight With DC Examiner

The Examiner savages the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors over their decisions regarding the now $5 billion rail-to-Dulles project. Gerry Connolly’s spokesperson Merni Fitzgerald returns fire with a demand for a retraction along with a rather unusual version of events that is actually pretty goofy. The Examiner shoots right back, blowing holes in Fitzgerald’s letter and pretty much accusing Gerry Connolly of violating state ethics laws. The guys at the Examiner just continue to impress and amuse, and not only me, but the RK folks as well.
Given the out-of-control development policies Connolly has fostered during his tenure on the board, his refusal to do anything more than pay lip service to a growing and troublesome problem with illegal aliens in several areas in the county, and now this outrageous multi-billion dollar waste of taxpayer dollars with sufficient secrecy and questionable contracting policies as to invite corruption and waste, citizens in Fairfax have to be getting fed up by now. Just how much longer can citizens tolerate these outrages?
Unfortunately, it still looks like the capacity of the Board of County Supervisors and Gerry Connolly to mismanage Fairfax hasn’t yet exceeded the general complacency of the residents. If they can indict Gerry Connolly, that might change.

Connolly really really really has to go. He is such a pompous a-hole. Anyone in Fairfax (and even those elsewhere) need to support Gary Baise for Chairman.
Small correction…
Merni Fitzgerald is NOT Gerry Connolly’s spokesperson. She is the Director of Public Affairs for Fairfax County. She is the spokesperson for the County government, not just the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
