They drive with out lisences, because THEY need to get places. They steal SSN'S because THEY need to work to support their families, even though they're in Mexico. They use the emergency room because THEY can not afford to go to a doctor.

It's all about them.

Give me a back Anon. Is a bank robber bad? It is called respect, and when they come here illegally they are not entitled to it. What other laws would they want us to not enforce? I am sure there are lots of people in the World who want to come to America, but for many that is an impossible dream. Yet, because we are in close proximity to many third World Nations some of the population of these Countries think it is OK to just cut in line and then once in the Country demand special treatment.

Yup, that is exactly the type of person I want fighting for the Nation.

Saying someone is bad because they are an illegal would be racist. hummmm. Sure they are all lazy thieves who rape and plunder at every chance. Hard to see why people see this as a racist move. Lets see a person is willing to risk everything to try and improve his faimly's way of life. Your right that's the last kind of guy I want fighting beside me.

Not all illegals are bad people....they're just illegal. That pretty much spells it out. Without real border security any measure to combat illegal immigration is just political rhetoric.

Not ALL illegals are bad people. They broke the law to make a better life for their families which I can totally understand, even though I don't condone their methods and certainly can't accept what their sheer numbers have done to our communities. I see no reason why they couldn't honorably serve in the armed forces if the proper checks were put in place. Boot camp would whip them into shape or get rid of them pretty quickly anyway. I would accept this over a draft or the continual stretching of our national guard to the breaking point. Granted that not all illegals that sign up for service would make it through, but the drill sergeants would be able to weed out the bad apples pretty swiftly and then we send the flunkees back to wherever they came from.

And to answer your question; yes I would trust my son or daughter to be next to one of these recruits because A) I trust the armed forces to be able to train these people and weed out most of the bad apples and B) any illegal willing to risk his life in service of this country is there because they are passionate about being an American citizen and not just to milk our system dry.

Let me go on record as being AGAINST sending them to Iraq in the military. Plain and simple, the military should NEVER be used as a test case (be it trying to put women in combat arms or illegals to "test" their loyalty). Our military is made up of the finest Americans you can find. These people did EVERYTHING right and are serving honorably overseas.

Now, I have no problem whatsoever with making deals with their home countries that when we deport them they serve in THEIR OWN Army!!!

Think about it like this, would YOU want YOUR son to have to trust his right flank to an illegal alien with an M-16A2??? Would you want YOUR daughter to be on a tight ship with an illegal???

I too remember that case. It flies in the face of those that defend illegals and open borders. How can these hard working, God fearing people who are only doing jobs Americans do not want to do attack a Police officer? Of course people like Nova Scout and others just want to make them legal and all of our problems will go away.

It is a real shame the officer after facing something like that gets no support from his department. Deane is just as bad as Skinner is.

We need to watch the 287g MOU between the County police department and ICE. It is my immpression that Chief Deane will try to keep it so that they will only report those that commit violent crimes and felonies. DUI's are not a felony so therefore not a deportable offence.

Let's keep our eye's and ear's open!

"He was a patrol officer who was jumped by a group of illegal aliens a few years ago at a party in Dale City."

I believe I remember reading about this. He was investigating a noise complaint and they started throwing rocks at him?

What, if anything, were the illegals involved charged with? What, if anything, was their sentence?

The following entry details an incident that occurred 2-3 yrs. ago between Andrew Cornell and a group of illegal immigrants.
He was a patrol officer who was jumped by a group of illegal aliens a few years ago at a party in Dale City. He was required to use deadly force after he was attacked by a group of hispanics. I spoke to him about the incident and he stated that he was knocked to the ground and the group attempted to kill him with his own weapon. The back-up officer witnessed the struggle and retreated to his police car waiting for additional help. While locked inside his car he watched as Officer Cornell struggled for his life. The shooting could have been avoided if the second officer on the scene had assisted during the struggle. After the shooting, Charlie Deane put him on administrative leave as required to investigate an incident of deadly force.

During the investigation Cornell insisted that the back-up officer be charged with "corwardice on duty." Chief Deane directed the internal probe extending the investigation after disapproval from local hispanics began to make headlines. He advised Cornell to deal with it because he had damaged relations with the hispanic community, and he wanted a "cool off" period. Officer Cornell wanted to be reinstated since the investigation had not yet produced charges against him. Charlie Deane responded by asking for his resignation because the “backlash” from the hispanic community was becoming too great. He advised Cornell that he would be forced to terminate him after suspending him, and finding fault for his actions during the shooting.

Officer Cornell found himself in what he described as a "no win position" and resigned. He then attempted to obtain a law enforcement job in a neighboring jurisdiction. His application was denied after he was labeled as "hardheaded and disrespectful." by the Chief's Office. His last known whereabouts involve him serving in the military. He was attempting to obtain a commission and fight overseas. I guess not the type of individual Charlie Deane wants in PWC. Andrew Cornell was a law and order guy. Aggressive, smart, somewhat fearless, arresting street criminals frequently. A guy any police chief would want. But not part of what Charlie Deane endorses or promotes in his department.

When this story was told to me, the coward that was too scared to do his job was not charged in this incident and is still employed protecting us. The individuals identified as being involved in the attack were found to be illegal, and were not deported or even reported to immigration officials.

Charlie Deane served as head of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police (V.A.C.P.) which gives him alot of influence among his peers. After Officer Cornell left the department, Deane attempted to pass a resolution in Virginia that would prohibit the hiring of any police officer who had been fired from another jurisdiction within the state.

This man will not encourage his department to aggressively enforce immigration measures in PWC. His excuse for having enforcement issues after the BOCS vote on this measure included his department already being understaffed. This after a past history of being forced by the BOCS to fill vacated and approved positions. It's status quo as long as he is police chief. He has been with this department for 37 yrs. It makes you wonder why he just doesn't retire. Because police work and leadership were never part of his image. He has been lost at the wheel for some time. But he still believes it is more important not to be perceived as "racist" instead of enforcing the law. As I mentioned before.......policy through perception.

Within 90 days, county exec Mr. Gerhardt will have provided the BOCS with a list of all the “services” the county provides, and which services the county has the authority to deny to illegal aliens. Some services, such as emergency medical services the county does not have the legal authority to deny.

During today’s BOCS meeting, Mr. Gerhardt had a power point listing of which agencies and/or services are already instructed to deny services to illegal aliens. For example, food stamps appeared on the list of denied services. Bear in mind if the illegal immigrant has 2 anchor babies, the children qualify for food stamps, education, Medicaid, etc.

Virginia is a Dillon Rule "state" which limits what local government can and cannot do without approval from Richmond. The next step is for our PWC delegates to introduce legislation seeking approval from General Assembly that would empower local authority to deny all county services to immigrants who are unable to prove legal status.

I hope what has happened in PWC will send a huge message to those in the City of Manassas and Manassas Park, officials and illegals alike. Whenever we put boxes and stuff out for trash pick up, boxes, etc., they always go thru first to see what they can take. How about we all put out suitcases and other luggage items to help them pack up and leave!!!!!

Thanks DLC, I was feeling kind of low. Anyway I think that you are probably right about the "word getting out" Adios Prince William County, Ola Montgomery County!

CW --

I don't think so....IMHO, as stated earlier, the 60 or 90 day delay on details would appear to be a rather ingenious strategy for the county!!!!

What you've got immediately is the revision of the General Order by Chief Deane, so it would seem that PWCo Police should be able to begin inquiring on legal status (with probable cause) for any stops....and that word WILL get out!

Talk about an effective deterrent!

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that there is something odd about the so-called passage of the resolution. I watched the whole thing on TV and came away with the sneaking suspicion that we had just been hoodwinked. Oh yes it did pass 9-0 and everyone declared victory and claimed we have the toughest anti-illegal alien approach in the Nation.

But if you watched the discussion of what would be exactly passed after the revisions, it seemed to me to be just idle rhetoric. After all any real action was pushed off for 90 days so that staff could gather more "facts", hold some more public hearings and then come back to put some kind of details in place. That would put the decision making into sometime in October. Other than remind County employees to comply with existing laws and regulations, what else was there? I just have to wonder when at the end everyone was deferring to Chief Deane and thanking each other, what really had happened... Please say it ain't so.
