Fairfax County Harboring Illegal Aliens

Although Prince William County is moving in the right direction in regards to illegal aliens, there’s obviously a lot to be done on other nearby jurisdictions. First up is Fairfax County, which instead of cracking down on illegal aliens is actually subsidizing them. From the Fairfax County Times:
Fairfax County recently awarded Project Hope & Harmony, managers of the Herndon Official Workers Center, an additional year of funding. The $175,000 one-year contract is part of a mix of public and private funds that, according to a recent release, supports the nonprofit’s “strategy for addressing the day worker issue in Herndon.”
Project Hope & Harmony’s stated strategy is to “provide a managed site that is open to all workers and employers who want to meet to negotiate work assignments.”
“Project Hope and Harmony”, which is run by Reston Interfaith, is nothing short of a blatant illegal alien support group that blatantly violates federal anti-harboring laws which can be prosecuted as felonies. Does the Fairfax Board of County Supervisors care about this reckless lawbreaking? Not at all, they fund it. Had Jackson Miller’s HB 2937 not been killed in the Senate’s Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee after being passed 70-29 by the House of Delegates, this subsidy in support of illegal aliens would have also violated Virginia law. Hopefully we can get this bill passed next session and end this outrageous practice.
Next up is a piece from Montgomery County, Maryland where a restaurant was raided which was harboring illegal aliens under the same federal law that Project Hope and Harmony is violating. Although it’s apparently too much of a burden for some businesses to hire legal workers because they cost too much, this one nonetheless managed in their hardship to amass $2 million worth of jewelry and had to play games with cash bank deposits in order to evade Treasury Department reporting requirements for large transactions.
Court documents charge that from June 5, 2002 until Sept. 29, 2006, over 800 deposits in amounts ranging from about $7,000 to $9,000 each, totaling nearly $7 million, were made into an El Pollo Rico business account. The deposits were allegedly made in order to avoid triggering the filing of a currency transaction report required for amounts in excess of $10,000. Authorities said that on 15 occasions more than one deposit of less than $10,000 was made on the same day, at the same branch bank, often within hours of each other.
According to authorities, most of the deposits from the restaurant proceeds were allegedly made by Francisco or Ines Solano.
Agents seized over $2 million in cash and jewelry from residences of the defendants, and several vehicles. More than six illegal aliens employed or harbored by the defendants have also been arrested, authorities said.
I’ve got an idea where the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency can do their next workplace enforcement raid: How about raiding this horrible day laborer center in Herndon which is destroying the neighborhood where it’s located? Instead of netting six illegal aliens, they would probably be able to detain hundreds.
It’s too much to hope that Gerry Connolly and his ilk would be indicted for violating federal anti-harboring laws, since they have a sovereign immunity defense. If we can’t prosecute this horrid board for their willful violation of this and other federal laws, perhaps the voters can at least replace them this November.

The illegal alien groups like to sue every time someone puts in a measure to limit their activities, why aren’t citizen groups suing local governments, employers and illegal alien groups that are harboring these people? It seems that if you take it to their pocket books they would get the message. If criminal law is unable to take the heat, maybe civil action could take some of the teeth out of their bite.

WHEATON, Md. — Law enforcement officials raided a popular restaurant late Thursday morning in Wheaton.
Police said that owners of the El Pollo Rico restaurant were employing and harboring illegal aliens, money laundering and fraud in connection with the operation of restaurant.
Police have charged Francisco Carlos Solano, 55, his wife Ines Solano, 59, both of Germantown, Md.; Francisco’s sister Consuelo Solano, 69, of Arlington, Va. and brother Juan Faustino Solano, 57, of Kensington, Md., in connection with the case.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Francisco, Consuelo and Juan Solano are natives of Peru, and Ines Solano is a native of Columbia, who became naturalized U.S. citizens. Francisco and Consuelo own the El Pollo Rico restaurant.
Authorities said the group employed numerous illegal aliens at the restaurant, paying employees in cash until the employee obtained temporary status, at which time they were paid by check.
Employees were also allegedly housed in residences owned by Francisco Solano in Wheaton and Kensington.

According to Bensen, that anger appeared to boil over when a crowd in the shopping center where Pollo Rico is located witnessed a tow truck towing an SUV that belonged to a restaurant employee.
The tow truck was taking the vehicle away because it violated the parking time limit, Bensen said. The move caused an angry exchange between witnesses and the tow truck driver.
Friends of the SUV owner teamed up to pull the vehicle off of the tow truck, Bensen said. The owner then left the scene in the vehicle.
Montgomery County police then arrived to defuse the scene, Bensen said.
The defendants each face a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.

My husband and I watched this on the news last night. We thought it was awesome! This video just goes to show how quickly they will act out!!
The Hispanics were the only ones still clapping and yelling at the PWCBOS meeting, on Tuesday. Naturally, they were never told to be quiet and to control their emotions, as we the legal citizens were. We quited right down, as we had been instructed to do. We were following the rules and respecting our government, and they were not. This type of behavior just proves their lack of respect for the laws of the(our) land.
I have a list of about 20 of these “fine establishments”, here in Manassas. This is the kind of action, the illegals need to see taken against them for their illegal actions and illegal presence in the our country.
Hell, are these “nice, hard working family folks” we should be welcoming to the USA? I sure don’t think so!!!!

My mom lives in Fairfax County. Her supervisor is not running this year. Could be that he has been taking a lot of heat from citizens who are fed up with illegal aliens. At one time on Burgundy Road there were trailers and campers which housed illegals. I guess they couldn’t cram any more into the houses. The Burgundy Village area has been hit hard. I know someone who lives there who can’t even park their car in front of their house because the cars and work vehicles that line the streets. It’s awful.

I would also suggest keeping your eyes open. These places are in older established areas of town.(PWC, Manassas and Manassas Park). I’ve also seen this at the eastern end of the county. I don’t mean to be rude, but do a little “police work” for yourself. It’s really not that hard at all.

CULPEPER, Va. — Several places in northern Virginia are becoming battlegrounds in the immigration debate.
Since Prince William County passed some of the toughest rules in the nation, people in Culpeper said they are worried they will be hit with an influx of immigrants.
Officials in Culpeper, like those in Prince William County, said Friday night that illegal immigrants living in the area are costing them millions of dollars. They said Culpeper is ready to make a resolution that will make a bold statement.
Culpeper is a small town 70 miles outside of D.C. It is unknown how big the Latino population is in the area, but many people in Culpeper said they believe when some immigrants arrived there, they broke the law.
“No one welcomes illegal aliens here in our community,” Steve Jenkins of the Culpeper City Council said. “They want to take proactive approaches. So, I think the theory is that anything we can do to deter individuals that have been in our community and live in this country illegally, we want to do so.”
Jenkins said he hopes his city follows in the footsteps of Prince William County.
This week, after a controversial vote, police officers were required to ask anyone they pull over about their immigration status.
Protests followed that decision.
“Illegal immigrants come here with a dream and a passion to work and that’s all they want to do,” immigration advocate Juan Garcia said. “They want that opportunity.”
County officials in Culpeper said illegal immigrants cost the county millions by using public facilities like pools, hospitals and libraries.
“We aren’t trying to run anybody out, we’re just trying to get a handle on it and keep it under control,” one Culpeper resident said.
Officials said anti-immigration resolutions could be introduced in the city and county of Culpeper as early as next month.”
We had 13 chickens(mostly roosters) living here in Westate(Chase Ct.) in the spring. They were gone within 3days of the county paying them a visit. These roosters were cock-a-doodle-dooing all the time. They are very dirty birds!!

Lots of so call Americans are complaining about illegal immigrants in the U.S.
What a lot of these so call Americans have forgotten is that their ancestors were also immigrants. Now they are trying to get rid off the immigrants, because they fear them and because they are ignorant of their cultures. These facts really show the level of education that some Americans really have.
I don’t really think most people in Prince William county really know what they have done. They need to think who is going to build their houses, who is going to take care of their children, who is going to fix their bed and bring them food while they stay in the luxury hotels?
Let’s face it, without immigrants, the so call Americans are practically useless.

I understand your point of view and respect it, However you haven’t address my questions about of who is going to do the work around your house, the type work that no one else is willing to do.
Take a really good look around, no just your house, but hotels, farms, restaurants, construction work sites, etc.
Do you honestly believe that Americans, especially Caucasians will do this type of work?
As far as having a cop living in each block in your neighborhood, is fine with me, but be really to have your civil rights and civil liberies step down all the time.

To answer your question my husband and I work on and clean our own house , etc. My husband does work on construction sites. I used to be a waitress. I have family that has farms and when we go stay in a hotel, it is most certainly not luxurious.
I am Caucasian. I am a legal US citizen and do not live above our means.
I work and pay Federal, State, Personal, Real, and sales tax.
Let me ask you a question. What do you think should be done with “ILLEGAL ALIENS”?

I am an American, as well as my family and friends. And yes, Americans even Caucasians will do that type of work. Back home, where I am from, we white American caucasians do clean houses, work in food industries, chicken plants, wood working plants, stores, hospitals, gas stations, and so on and so on. I can say that illegal aliens are just now inhibiting where I am from.
We will continue to do WHATEVER JOB that needs to be done to keep our bills paid and to keep food on our tables.
I have myself cleaned toilets, washed dishes, cooked food, waited on customers, and will continue to do so. My brother has and continues to work in a chicken plant. My other brother has worked in chicken plants, printing plants, construction, has worked as a logger, and has proudly served his country in the Army Reserves. My third brother serves his county in the Army. My sister has worked in restaurant, grocery stores, cleaning, and plants. My other sister is working in a nursing home. Need I go on? We were doing the jobs long before illegal aliens! The only difference was that they took jobs so foolishly and for less pay. So the one who really benefited from this was the employers, because they could pay some dumby for less to save a few extra cents in their wallets. So you can bite my ass, because I know that we will continue to do our necessary jobs to keep our communities growing and thriving.

I have no quarrels with people of different nationalities. My first baby sitter was from Pakistan and my second baby sitter is from Afganistan. They came here legally! If you want to live in America, follow the foot steps of people before you, and do it the legal way! It is the only fair way to us naturalized and born citizens!!!!

I was pointing out the fact that in other parts of the country, unlike Northern VA, Americans do do those jobs that J. A. apparently thinks are beneath us, just as they have been for years.
J. A. probably thinks that we all lived in mud huts until the illegals came to build our houses for us, and formed hunter-gatherer societies until the illegals came to pick our produce for us.

I’ve reading many people comments, sadly many people have missed the big picture. Almost everyone agreed that we don’t need illegal immigrants, becuase we are very capable to do most of the work around our houses. However, if we think in terms of the local economy as a whole, you people will be surprise of how much illegal immigrants contribute to it. Moreover, for those of us who think that illegal immigrants get free services, I’m here tell you that you’re wrong. Anyone who apply to state or county services would have to be legal resident in order to qualify for any kind of service.

Why did you choose the United State as your place to live? I bet you had a choice in this matter. A lots of immigrants from many county around the world, do not have that luxury, most illegal immigrant (not just Hispanics) come to the U.S. becuase their economies, natural resources, and cultures have been slowly destroyed by treaties such as NAFTA and other U.S. foreign policies. Finally, I worked as a correctional officer for a number of years, I can tell you for a fact that most people incarcerated in Virginia today are African Americans. Take a look at the data.
Perhaps, you need to do your homework before talk about facts. As far as the money spent on the programs that you mentioned, you might want to as your representatives where that money have been spend.
