Dumb Ideas From Illegal Aliens
By Greg L | 1 August 2007 | Illegal Aliens, Prince William County | 83 Comments
The public reaction to the announcement by Mexicanos Sin Fronteras of boycotts and protests was succinctly summarized by Jim Bacon today in his post “Hispanic Activists Take Aim, Shoot Foot“, where Jim writes:
I know a lot of immigrants, some legal and some illegal. I like them as individuals, and I help them when I can. I’m sympathetic to their desire to better their lives and become American citizens. But there is nothing, I mean nothing, that infuriates me more than when a group of people come into this country — a country that welcomes those who come here legally — prosper here, and then turn around and embrace the cult of victimhood, hurling accusations of racism and bigotry at those with whom they disagree. It makes my blood boil.
Apparently Jim is not alone. After the “May Day” protests in 2006 in which illegals gathered by the thousands, waving foreign flags and demanding changes in American laws, the political climate tangibly shifted against amnesty for illegal aliens and set the stage for the historic pressure leveled on the Senate this year to stop the open borders crowd. These radical tactics, which are common in Central and South America, are not well received in the United States. Instead of cowing the electorate, they made it feel like America was under assault. To try to do this in Prince William County, considered by most to be a pretty politically conservative jurisdiction, is sheer folly.
Although not everyone is alarmed. Jim Riley looks at the bright side in “Boycotts, Protests and Strikes, Oh My!“, asking Mexicanos Sin Fronteras to expand the scope of their boycott:
I’m completely fine with illegal aliens boycotting businesses in PWC — so long as the boycott lasts as long as the resolution is in place and is extended to include renting and buying places to live as well.
During previous protests and strikes, about the most visible result apparent to voters was that shopping was a much better experience, commutes were shorter, and for a little while their communities had returned to normal. Even if the illegal alien lobby manages not to entirely enrage the populace, there’s a real possibility that the positive effects will subvert the intentions of these illegal alien activists.
Meanwhile, Douglas McKinnon expresses much more concern in “Illegal Aliens Declare War on the United States“, should the illegal alien supporters be successful in cowing our local government in to surrendering to this pressure. Not being an area resident who might be better at predicting the resolve of the electorate here, and perhaps being colored by what has happened elsewhere in the country, he’s concerned about what would happen in the unlikely event the Board of Supervisors folds:
In closing, the message from these illegal aliens and their supporters could not be more clear. “If you dare try to uphold the laws of your nation, state, county, or town, we will sue you, bankrupt your legal business, go on strike against you, and broaden our borders deeper into your nation. And we will do all of this with the assistance of your federal politicians, your mainstream media, and your lawyers. We will wait you out and we will win.”
If the purpose here is to effectively engage in the political process, Mexicanos Sin Fronteras is failing even before it does anything. My concern is that the purpose of this is to radicalize the Latino community and gain power within it, which would be a more disturbing, and more plausible outcome of this power play.
Meanwhile, the number of localities moving forward with their own resolutions, based on the action taken in Prince William County continues to grow.

I’ve got a few boycott ideas :
1. Boycott any 7-11 surrounded by day laborers
2. Boycott any system that asks you to pick English or Spanish - for example, bail out of the Automated Checkout lane at a Giant supermarket and either just leave, or go to a line with a person in it and tell them why
3. Do the same with automated phone systems - demand to speak to a person rather than pick between English and Spanish
4. Boycott any business known to hire illegal aliens - and tell them why you’re doing it
5. Remove your money from any bank that has programs targeting home loans to illegals - for example Chase
6. Don’t sell a house to illegals
7. Boycott DISH TV because of DISH Latino - and don’t suffer their signs in a public area, pull them out of the ground
And don’t forget to boycott ANY product of ANY latin american country. Because as THEY say how can we tell THEM apart.
“Boycott any 7-11 surrounded by day laborers.”
Aren’t the illegals supposed to be boycotting them? They are are part of an American-owned business. I think that we should politely point that out to the folks standing there and suggest that they wouldn’t want to go against their leaders.
Seriously folks, if this wasn’t coming from adults, doesn’t this boycott and protesting remind you of when kids throw temper tantrums. Look at the way they want to kick and scream to get their way. I’m sure we all know how to handle temper tantrums.
Express Kidnappings? They’ve managed to take a Federal crime to “drive-thru” levels? This is very disconcerting. Will average citizens have to take out “kidnapping insurance” like Americans living and working in Latin American countries do? Believe me, if this is happening in the border states, it is only a matter of time before it appears here, if it hasn’t already.
I am sorry, this is a bit off topic…not really, but kinda…and I have a question that has been bothering me for a long time….and it involves the Senate “Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill.”
While I understand the desire of both parties to secure the Latino vote….and I understand (to some extent) the effort to protect the source of cheap labor. However, the thing that I can not understand is why, with all the outrage…and it didn’t happen just overnight…our Senators in both parties KNEW the attitudes of the overwhelming majority of Americans….why, why, knowing the American citizens (voters) did not want that resolution to pass, why did so, so many Senators continue to support it?
I find that very, very disturbing. Finally, they succumbed to the surge of anti-illegal alien sentiment, but the fact that it took so much of our collective effort is what worries me. Seems to me that they ALL ought to keep their ears a little closer to the ground…or is it that they heard us sooner, but thought that we, common citizens, weren’t smart enough to know what was best for us??
It’s because they’re out of touch, helped along by “party-before-principle” voters.
I am seeing opportunity knocking here. When exactly is the boycott? If everyone goes off willy nilly and does their own version of boycott, it is much less effective than if the group makes an effort to work together, targets particular stores etc. Is there a group of stores we might want to do business with during this time to prove a point?
What banks are catering to illegal immigrants? I am fairly sure Bank of America is. there was a big stink about that on the news earlier this spring. Is there someone willing to come up with a list of banks doing this? For the record, I am opposed to any business that has one set of rules for one group and a different set of rules for a different group…other than a kiddie savings account. On a given day during the boycott, pull your money out of banks x, y, z and put them in banks A, B or C.
I dont think we have the liberty of deciding who we can and cannot sell our houses to, especially if going through a realtor. Does anyone know the exact ruling on this? I know there are federal laws regarding discrimination.
I think you can react smart or react dumb to this upcoming boycott. What really is going to make a difference to local businesses? If you have to chose between English or Spanish, how important is that in the grand scheme of things? Not very. Who cares. I hate phone menues in general so one more button I can live with. Not to sound trite, but businesses are in business to make money. Wouldn’t an obvious goal be to show that the businesses will continue to make money in spite of the boycott?
It would seem to me that the obvious objective of those who support the Stirrup Ordinance, which the hispanic groups are protesting, would be to show the boycotters’ irrelevance. We are here, we are legal, we are going to support your business.
Know where Mexicanos Sin Fronteras are holding their organizing meetings? - the local catholic churches (plus Fred Lynn Middle).
I long ago decided to boycott the catholic church by discontinuing my donations. Perhaps local, American catholics should do the same.
That’s an excellent idea Dolph! Greg, what’s the status of the list of businesses that hire and cater to illegal aliens and the list of those businesses who refuse to do so? That’s where we should start.
On a personal note, ALL citizens and legal immigrants should boycott Bank of America. Let me give you an idea of some of their business practices, no doubt bolstering their ability to fund their illegal alien policy. One of our credit card companies (MBNA, I believe) was bought out by Bank of America and we received the notice of that with a bill from BOA arbitrarily (we were NOT behind in our payments, in fact always paid substantially more than the min.) RAISING OUR INTEREST RATE FROM 13.99% to 24.99%! Then, when my husband protested, they offered us a “generous” 19.99% rate. HA! My husband told them what they could do with that (he was admittedly rude) and he immediately went online and paid off the account and cancelled it, calling them back to confirm the cancellation. Well, those people wouldn’t take no for an answer. They sent us another credit card(s) at that new, “generous” rate, which my husband immediately shredded and called them to remind them, in no uncertain terms, that they were paid off, cancelled, and where they could stick their company! THEN they sent us CHECKS to write against our non-existent account (in our minds at least)…shredded, called, etc. This has been going on for months, and we’re still getting things from them that assumes we have an account, including bills with a zero balance (at least there’s that)! There’s got to be something illegal about all this. DO NOT DO BUSINES WITH BANK OF AMERICA! We didn’t even get involved with them at our own volition!
Freedom wrote: “However, the thing that I can not understand is why, with all the outrage…and it didn’t happen just overnight…our Senators in both parties KNEW the attitudes of the overwhelming majority of Americans….why, why, knowing the American citizens (voters) did not want that resolution to pass, why did so, so many Senators continue to support it?”
Easy, blocks of voters and money. Just as our esteemed Lt. Gov accepted $13,750 (Source: www.vpap.org) from a lawyer who provides aid and assistance to illegal aliens (http://www.gillgallinger.com/practice_immigration.asp), so have MANY Senators and members of Congress accepted “dirty” money like this.
It is way past time that we hold our elected officials, as well as candidates, accountable for the company that they keep.
anon - I knew about the churches, but do they meet regularly at Fred Lynn???
AWC,
OT, but worth it, I promiseI have found a great way to stop unsolicited stuff from being sent to me:
If the company includes a business reply envelope, with “no postage necessary”, save the envelope.
Next, go find a cardboard box, and some random junk to put in it. I like old automotive parts, and tire rims are great to. Even your household garbage wil do, as long as it’s sealed up an plastic so it won’t leak.
Seal the box, and tape the business reply envelope to the box. Make sure to put your return address, so they know who sent it.
Take the box to the post office. They will accept it, trust me.
Go home and enjoy the mental picture of the comapny first having to figure out what to do with the crap you sent them, and then, enjoy the fact that they will get wacked with the postage.
Do this enough, and they will get the message.
AWC,
Bank of America stole $350 from me with a bait and switch refinance deal about 5 years ago. I won’t even drive in their parking lot. They are thieves.
BOA is one of if not the worst offenders of catering to illegals. I’ve said before I’m pretty sure the default rate on the credit cards will be even higher than the mortgage default rate. I stopped doing business with them about 15years ago. They SUCK!!
Dolph
There are Federal laws agaist discrimination when it comes to housing. However, if you are selling your home yourself well you always have the legal right to change your mind, and decide to stick it out where you are. I’ve heard of someone who did this in Greenwich(PWC). I’m not saying I would do this by any means. This is TRUE!!! I only like facts.
Batson
WOW!! I think I throw out about 25lbs. of junk mail(shredded) a week. We will be trying this along w/AWC’s comments on phone calls. Question please, which Post Office or have you done this at multiple locations? I want to make sure I take my mom’s stuff too. Heck, she gets the mail for my deceased father(3yrs now). Go figure.
Batson
I meant to also say…About 80% of my mom’s mail is for my dad.
I’d call and report the card stolen. Then, if they send another one, report that one stolen too. Keep doing this until they stop sending cards.
Thanks Batson, I love the idea!…and my husband does too.
Only in American can Illegals come and protest. If you or I tried that in one of those messed up countries, we’d never be heard from again! It makes me sick to wake up every morning and see them working construction right beside my home.
I go to the main PO on 234, but it shouldn’t matter where you go. They will take it.
ANother neat trick is when you are paying off a Credit Card, pay it down to a $.05 balance, and keep it there for one or two cycles. The company has to generate a statement, and spend money for postage. Probably costs them $10.00 to generate that stuff, for a five cent balance.
Robert Samuelson has an interesting idea in today’s
Wapo op/ed section. He writes on the huge cost of aging
baby boomers, but his basic concept might work
just as well with the illegal immigration issue.
“Bill Richardson cleverly deflects the issue. ‘The best
solution’, he said, ‘is a bipartisan effort to fix it.’ Brilliant.
There’s already a bipartisan consensus: Do nothing.”
Just like boomer cost, we are dead in the water at the
Federal level on illegal immigration. Time to try
something besides cross complaining and/or just
hoping the problem will magically vanish.
Samuelson’s “antidote to timidity” is to have the
top think tanks of America - liberal and conservative -
enter a competition to suggest specific ways to
resolve the issue. They would have to write in plain
Engish, not techbobabble and create a clear, concise
plan for the future. Each plan could be no longer than
than 35 pages and be ready for publication in April.
Couldn’t hurt - and might help.
AWC, you are sooooooooooo bad!!! Love it!!
Hispanics were “needling” a local Korean drycleaners here. (e.g., dropping their children’s drawers and letting them pee on the sidewalk in front, parking in the cleaner’s one parking space, but doing business at the latino shops) Finally, a few weeks ago, I walked into the cleaners and discovered that the poor man had sold the shop to the latinos and left. I asked if it was under new mgmt which they assured me it was, and I said “no thanks” and left. You’re right, you cannot tell which are legal and which aren’t, so I have been doing a little boycotting of my own.
freedom: I suspect there has to be something to the communism that crept into our government in the last century. See http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:7Mumgcz28vcJ:www.spongobongo.com/em/em9820.htm+joseph+mccarthy+was+right&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
Communism/marxism also affected the catholic church about the same time period. There is much info if anyone is interested, just google Bella Dodd, catholic church, communism (e.g., http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:YUK3M0VllakJ:www.christianorder.com/editorials/editorials_2000/editorials_nov00.html+bella+dodd,+catholic+church,+communism&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us
Not surprising that we have so much liberation theology welcoming and spreading the zapatista agenda. Useful idiots.
Legal. I know exactly where you’re talking about. You’re not the only one conducting their own personal boycott.
I’ll have to boycott all of the McDonald’s in the area.
Freedom said, “While I understand the desire of both parties to secure the Latino vote….and I understand (to some extent) the effort to protect the source of cheap labor. We are ruled by elitists who assume they can manipulate us. Most of the time they’re right. Look at Frank Wolf’s website. All of sudden he’s interested in gangs. Wants to appear like he’s on top of the prob. Wants to know if you’re interested in gangs. Hell no, Frank, I’m interested in getting rid of 20 million people who are here illegally that came in under your watch, while you were taking trips to Sierra Leone and Nigeria and wringing your hands about what you could do to help the blood diamond boys.
I’m convinced the time is soon approaching to refresh the tree of liberty, if you get my ref to TJ.
Sell your stocks. Buy guns.
Dolph asked, “I dont think we have the liberty of deciding who we can and cannot sell our houses to, especially if going through a realtor. Does anyone know the exact ruling on this? I know there are federal laws regarding discrimination. ”
There is no law preventing you from requiring proof of American citizenship prior to entering into a contract to sell your house.
At least the McDonald’s billboard on Route 1 in Triangle is in English again after two consecutive Spanish ones they had run.
Advocator, I think we’d be better off electing people like John Stirrup and Corey Stewart to higher offices as a means of refreshing the tree of liberty and moving up people like U.S. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) who has been fantastic on this issue.
Lafayette,
It seems the illegals violate discrimination laws. They always sell their homes to each other(someone already living with them). 7708 Woodstock is a perfect example.
Advocator, is that for private sales or through a realtor? I dont plan on selling but it is still a good piece of information to have.
I jiust pulled this off of the Woodbridge Workers Committee website
AGREEMENTS:
1. Economic boycott of the 27 of August to the 3 of September: Not to buy Anything in the County of Prince William, to only consume in the stores and Latin services.
2. General unemployment of workings: Tuesday 9 of October, 2007
3. March: Date to confirm
4. Regional caravan by the unit of the towns immigrants: Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC (Dates to confirm.
5. Campaign of registry of voters.
6. Informative campaign.
7. Campaign to regitrar itself in TPS
8. Educative campaign.
9. Campaign of transfers in veiculos.
10: Message of solidarity with the immigrants in the County of Loudon and the city of Culpeper, GOES.
Does anyone know what GOES is?
Rats, only one day of smooth driving during rushhour…and we have to wait ’til October for it! They could have at least given us a week of that too.
Sorry Had to Say, I have no idea.
Dolph:
When you sell your house, you are entering into a contract. There is no law that prevents you from requiring proof of US citizenship when you enter into a contract to sell your house, as long as you require it from everyone. In fact, you could write it into your contract with your realtor, if you can find one smart enough to know that such an additional clause is not illegal. Most realtors can’t function without their HUD approved forms.
Advocator,
This info is very interesting. I am curious, how far can you take these kind of stipulations? When do you bump into the discrimination problem?
Since foreigners can buy property in the United States, could you stipulate that the buyer be a US citizen? legal resident? female? male?
Advocator
You are wrong, it can not be written into a contract, it’s called discrimination. Any by the way, I am a Broker with a college degree, I can function quite well with forms.
IF you would like the FACTS on what can and cannot be done when selling your house go to www.NAR.com.
Dolph
One thing is being a Citizen or naturalized citizen and another is to be a Legal Alien. Legal Alien, legal residents and people with working visas or any visa that was legally obtained that is can enter into a purchasing contract.
You cannot prevent the sale of your property to anyone, because by doing so, you are putting yourself in jeopardy. A legal action will soon follow for breach of contract. Enforcing their requirement of legality will be promptly superseded by action against you for breach of contract.
The only way you could possibly get around this is to require that your realtor include a clause in your sales contract providing for your refusal to sell to anyone who is not here lgally. Good luck finding a realtor that will allow you this inclusion.
Lastly, and more pointedly, what should be prevented is for people to let or sublet to illegals. Many people because of the dire mortgage situation are renting to illegals. And that is nothing compared to people that are purposely buying property for speculation and turn viable properties into dormitories.
Another thing that needs to be done is to force the inclusion in the HOAs of respective neighborhoods of clauses that prevent occupation of multiple families in a dwelling. Until legislation is passed that prevents or remedies this problem, it is the only way to defend yourself from this abuse. abusive occupancy should be aggressively contrasted to prevent epidemics. If, God forbid, we are hit with any kind of epidemic, we will be totally unable to stifle it if we do not know who is here, who is where and more importantly how many people are occupying what dwelling.
Dolph:
I’m in complete agreement with Liz’s statement that if you are going to limit the sale of your house to legal residents of the US, or citizens of the US, or to only gay males with domineering mothers, you must advertise that limitation in your offer to sell. The limitation is legal as long as it does not discriminate for reasons that are illegal.
I know a couple that bought a house in MP about 17 years ago, and it was in their sales contract that would also being the household pet(dog). Yes, this was in the Sales Contract. The couple selling the house was getting a divorce, and fighting over the damn dog.
You CAN actually sell or not sell your house to anyone you choose. You just have to know how to keep your mouth shut.
That is an excellent idea about Catholics boycotting their church.
I’d love to see it happen, love to see THOSE effete snobs get some feedback from their membership.
You all are very amusing.
“Boycott places that provide services in Spanish” Why? Because God knows everyone who speaks Spanish is here illegally and because a capitalist business sees an opportunity to expand it market, we must boycott them. How American.
“Boycott DISH network because they have DISH Latino.” Should those who believe homosexuality is evil and immoral start boycotting Comcast and any other provider that offer LOGO? Should KKK members boycott any provider that carries BET?
“Boycott the Catholic Church because their interpretation of the Gospel makes me feel uncormfortable.” I mean, we all know Jesus was blond haired and blue eyed and that when He taught about helping the poor, destitute, downtrodden, and those separate from society, what he really meant was only help those who look like us and sound like us.
And you wonder why people slap you tags like “racists” and “xenophobes.” The immigration argument is not about language. It’s not about cultural diversity (or homogeneity as the case may be). It’s not about left-wing or right-wing politics. It’s about the law and adhering to it. When the supporters of sweeping immigration reform wrap their arguments in statements about pressing 1 to get English or seeing a billboard in Spanish or “suffering” through haring Salsa music on the corner, you betray some of the true (and probably subconscious) motivation for your actions. When the answer to “how can you tell they’re illegal?” is “They’re speaking Spanish” you betray your true sentiments. You say you are simply concerned about upholding the law, but what really comes through as a sub-text is that you really don’t like brown-skinned people who speak a language you don’t understand. If all of these illegal aliens were coming from Norway and spoke English, would have the same fervor?
Just saying… said on 2 Aug 2007 at 10:25 am:

So, all of the businesses being boycotted by the illegals in PWC are owned/operated by those that oppose illegal aliens? Or could some of them be pro-illegals? See, how it works!!
N…errr …Just Saying….
Are you not doing exactly the same thing when you say ‘All of you are very amusing?’ It looks like the broad brush of assuming works both ways.
What out for that rascally ALL word. It will bite you in the butt every time.
Dolph
Dolph:
You all…y’all…you’unz…youse guys…etc.
All are regional colloquialisms used to denote second-person plural since English has no such distinction with the word “you” (unlike other languages that have different words for second person singular and second person plural). That is the manner in which I used the phrase.
But you already knew that and obviously had other little retort to add, so you point at something that really wasn’t germane to the overall post. It’s an effective debate tactic when nothing else is left in the tank. It’s the same tactics used by the likes of Bill O’Reilly and his ilk. It ignores the salient points and goes straight to minutiae to attempt to discredit the main point.
Bob Sentz:
You completely missed my point. Just because businesses offer services in languages other than English doesn’t mean they take any stand on immigration. They could very well be serving a *sizable* LEGAL population that happens to speak Spanish (and there is just such a LEGAL community in Northern Virginia). Just because a person is a native Spanish-speaker, doesn’t make them illegal. That fact that you don’t seem to get that from my post only serves to further my point that this “outrage” over illegal immigration is at least in part fueled by outrage over having people who speak another language in your community. That does, to many, seem to smell of at least a little bit of racism.
Now im throwing my hat in the ring.
Alright Loudoun, how do you suppose this will go with the citizens of our county?
Northern Virginian counties are taking their sweet time with these bills and resolutions. I think sheriffs and town/city police forces should take part in the immigration crackdown. I have seen groups of “foreigners” hanging out at our local gas stations and 7-11s. Technically, that is loitering. And it just pisses me off knowing that the autorities can’t do anything about because of discrimination.
Also, the old idea of Tax-Free services for these immigrants is just unfair. My father has been paying taxes and giving a third of his income to the government since he started working for AT&T nearly 20 years ago. So the idea of immigrants living here for free, and our hard working citizens paying for their food, school supplies, ect. is sickening to me. Our ancestors paid with their lives to give us this freedom and these illegals pay us back with a crude and threatening statement I just read.
We will not tolerate intimidation and violence by these illegals. If these protesters threaten to dissolve the federal, state, or county laws then America, you better be ready to take some action. Lets not let Uncle Sam down.
“If all of these illegal aliens were coming from Norway and spoke English, would have the same fervor?”
Any person answering this question without attacking “just saying”?
He has a good point when he says that by emphasizing elements external to the legal vs illegal issue, people loose the message that you are trying to send.
The fact that you don’t like people speaking in spanish, that they sent money to their country, or that they like salsa music doesn’t have anything to do with the legal status of a person.
That is what bothers you because you think they are not assimilating or respecting the law. Sometimes, legal people show disrecpect for the law or even symbols such as the american flag. Ther is no direct correlation between illegal alien and cultural preferences
Dolph-My apologies…it is you that is mistaken. My post was copied from ‘Just saying… said on 2 Aug 2007 at 10:25 am:’ and my question: ‘So, all of the businesses being boycotted by the illegals in PWC are owned/operated by those that oppose illegal aliens? Or could some of them be pro-illegals? See, how it works!!’ was addressed to him/her.
JS,
Actually, I was taking offense over being caught up in the giant sweep. All vs some. If that was not your intent, I accept your explanation. of your use of the term if it truly was the idiomatic expression of the south.
Do you deny that there are some problems in this community because of uncontrolled immigration?
Do you accept and recognize that people contributing to this blog come from every point of the continuum on the political pendulum? I would say that most are much more conservative than I am, but not all.
I see that we have problems in our community that I can no longer ignore. However, I have tried to be moderate in tone about these problems to the point that several readers here have used the dreaded L word at me, and it wasn’t Bill O’Reilly (which I find equally offensive because he is rude for starters)
Bob Sentz,
No problem.
TH,
I don’t know. For me it would be about behavior.
Historically, I don’t think anyone cut the Irish any slack. No Irish Need Apply was alive and well. The Irish looked pretty much like the rest of the white population. I almost said you cannot get any more WASP than that and caught myself. Actually not having the P in WASP was part of the problem.
I am not so sure that Americans in general have been particularly hospitable to any large influx of immigrants. The immigrants tended to huddle together in enclaves (usually where the less expensive housing was) and didn’t mix with others. Thus we get Little Italy, Chinatown, Little Ireland sections of our major cities. The Mormons were driven out because of what was perceived as major religious differences. Another WASP group, many of whom were recent immigrants. The Mormons also represented a large voting block in areas of heavy Mormon concentration.
I think history repeats itself over and over again, with each new wave of immigrants.
Dolph
cock-a-doodle-doo all
There are now 4 chickens that I could see at Chuck Colgan’s old house in West Gate!!!! I wonder if those young chicks are nice, hardworking family fowl?
I heard of chickens on Sudley Manor today.
Just saying..
I don’t about you. Are you Nancy L, or one of her cronies??
If you aren’t sure would fit in nicely with her, John Steinbach, or Ricardo Juarez!!!
corr
I don’t KNOW about you.
Lafayette,
Cock-a-doodle dooooooooo
I have to go look. It has been a while since I have seen a chicken.
What does the County Zoning Ordinance say about farm animals in the burbs?
There were chickens in Sunnydale or whatever that neighborhood is called about 10 years ago.
Dolph
Dolphin
Well they are still young, just getting combs, and they’re black.
Zoning doesn’t like the chicks!! I wish they had a manned hotline available 24/7. I have to wait until the AM to get those little guys. Most I’ve seen around here are cocks, and that really makes wonder whats going on. Hmmmm.we can only guess.
I don’t know the exact Zoning Ord, regarding chicks. I do that per the very few restrictions we have here in West Gate/Sudley. Here are what the restrictions of West Gate and Sudley regarding chickens.
Restriction 15. No animals, livestock or poultry of any kind shall be raised, bred or kept on any lot, except that dogs, cats or other household pets may be kept provided that they are not kept, bred or maintained for any commercial purposes.
This is a pretty standard restriction. I have to look at them to complete a title exam.
ALL PWC
Call Zoning 703-792-7018, to report chickens!!!!
I bet the PWC Fair won’t have as many chickens as West Gate/Sudley.
bok bok bok! I will call if I see any.
There was some fancy gaming cock standing out on the yard at Sudley Manor House last year. Not your run of the mill rooster. So you know what is going on…..
is this a PWC thing?
back2reality
Not sure. I suppose. We are the home of 2 great Civil War Battles, the Bobbitts, a sniper, so whats a few chickens. bok bok bok.
I dont feel farm animals belong in the burbs. If I see chickens in my neighborhood, I will report them. So far I haven’t but my eyesight isnt 20/20 any more.

The chickens problem is REAL and the restrictions are right from the land records of PWC. It’s pretty standard language for a residential neighborhood. These restrictions are pretty standard statewide.
Is there a certain Subdivision you want to know about? I’ll be happy to look the restrictions up for you.
Let me know if your serious, and I’ll get right back with the answer for you.
I just moved out of Bristoe Station in the City of Manassas after 17 years, watching it slowly go down and down and down. There were people on Patterson that had chickens in their back yard - and they lived NEXT DOOR to a city officer. I had to throw my brakes on going down Confederate because I nearly hit a rooster.
I think an effective boycott would be against any politicians campaign that does not address solutions to the problems we are facing today in regards to a system of unmanaged immigration … and any politician who does not offer a means of managing or dare I say governing (as in government) — both the amount and the who, of people who want to immigrate. I am not suggesting that we need politicians who are racist only that an uncontrolled flow of immigration causes problems.
I would also like to point out that a real solution at this point likely would have to involve local police — less than that we would have a federal police system who would likely not focus on immigration, see http://www.n4g.com/industrynews/News-56096.aspx for what the hiring of additional ICE agents of accomplished today.
Dolph:
I do see a problem with illegal immigration. I just don’t have an issue with Spanish options or multiculturalism. One does not require the other. We can crack down on illegal immigration and still have the “Press 1 for English.” We could kick out all the illegals, and still see billboards in Spanish. That was my point (and one only TH seemed to grasp).
Lafayette:
Your assumption that I am a pro-illegal Socialist only goes to prove my point. I never said I wanted amnesty. Never said I was an illegal sympathizer. I never said I didn’t think there was an illegal problem. But you assumed that because I didn’t have a problem with Spanish speakers or the Church assisting poor and destitute that I belong in the enemy camp. Kind of shows you’re pushing people out of your movement and that you have some disctinct ideas about what an illegal looks and sounds like. Again, is the problem for you really that they’re illegal or is that a convenient crutch to remove the blight of brown-skinned Spanish speakers from you neighborhood? A few weeks ago, I would have been right there beside you pushing for strong immigration reform. Now, I don’t want to be lumped into the same category with people whose motivation is suspect. Thanks for helping to convince me to stay a bystander rather than become an activist who probably would have helped you. But I forgot, you only deal in “FACTS,” never assumptions. Seems the only FACTS you like, though, are the ones that cement your opinion. Ones that question or challenge you get swept under the rug with ad hominen attacks rather than addressing the actual issue raised.
Had to Say
I’ve this before, and I’ll refresh your memory…
I have lived my entire life next door to legal immigrants now US citizens German and Guatalmalen.. My Guatamalen neighbor of twenty years, moved out by Linton Hall Rd area.
She was the best never I ever had. She moved because she didn’t like how the West Gate had changed!! I don’t like how it’s changed around here either! I don’t want illegals live next door to me or in my native county. I’m damn sure not going cut and run. This is my country!!!!
As for FACTS I’ve never said for a fact anyone is illegal!!
We have good ole Charlie Deane to thank for not knowing who’s legal and who’s illegal.
Churches should help people, I agree. However, churches should NOT harbor illegal aliens or any other criminal.
I’ve done anything but push people I out of the movement!!
I devote a great deal of my time to “illegal invasion”. In fact, I was on vacation the end of June, I devoted the entire week to my community in numerous ways. I’d like to add changes for the BETTER!!!!!!!
What have you done to better the community?
Heck, I don’t know you could be one of the “baiters”.
This is not about RACE!!! It’s LEGAL AND ILLEGAL.
I and those I know obey the law, and this applys to all. Remember, illegals mere existance in our great country is ILLEGAL!!
What part of illegal don’t you UNDERSTAND???
Do you belong to HSM, yet? If not, here you go.
http://helpsavemanassas.org/hsmapp2.pdf
Hope to see you at the next HSM meeting..hahahaha……
corr
I’ve SAID this before…
I could careless if they boycott! What would be even better is if they (THOSE WHO ARE ILLEGAL) just left!
These people are not like traditional immigrants in which they want to learn the US language and ways of living. They are totally different and want the US to become Mexico/Guatamala/El Salvador.
Good job by the PWC Supervisors and also homeland security announced today that the fake social security numbers will now come at a price for those that look the other way.
LET’S TAKE AMERICA BACK!
ABM!
That’s exactly right. This our(legal) America!!!
I think we should place free maps to Montgomery Co, MD in all the business that they(illegals) will be at during the “big boycott of ‘07″!!!
Why don’t we get some slogans to put on hats and t-shirts? Then we could wear them as we go out and about. Here’s some starters. Feel free to add to the list. Maybe someone will take the initiative and make them and sell them.
1. Stop MOOCHING!
2. Get LEGAL or GET OUT!
3. What’s free for you, costs me mucho,
I’m a taxpaying citizen.
4. Illegals have no rights to my money.
Signed
Ugly Angel
I’ve not heard anyone offer the logical solution to illegals sponging out of our tax treasury. That solution is that those whose hearts are soft tho the illegals plight should set up a fund with their own money and those liberals and Democrats and others could contribute to this fund and it could be distributed however they wish. They could buy health care for the illegals and schooling for the illegals kids and beer and cigarette money for them to enjoy themselves while they stay in the USA.
This way, they wouldn’t be mooching out of our tax money. We’re forced to pay taxes and I don’t think that its right to force us to pay for these people who shouldn’t even be here.
If the politicians want to give them money, then they can write a check to the illegals fund instead of giving them our money.
They give out our tax money and then strut around and brag about this “good thing” that they have done because they “care”. I’ll bet they don’t “care” enough to use their own personal money.
Colonel Davey Crockett had it right in his book.

Ugly Angel
Just is Just and the law is not Just at times.
We must learn from out mitakes and move on.
Lafayette
I am Guatemalan, I will move to Prince Georges soon!
Citizen by choice
My neighbor and her family stayed right in PWC to a new Subdivision. They stayed here because the are LEGAL and love PWC. The are legal, and she rents her house next out.
She would only rent to a legal immigrant, and the tenants keep the place looking good. I must add it took her quite sometime to find good renters and legals. She didn’t like all of suspected illegals and illegal activity from new residents of West Gate.
You are a citizen by choice afterall, so move where ever you like. Heck, there’s house that’s been foreclosed diagonally from me. Your legal so take a look. They have a nice Che Gueavara poster in the window, and your first new home project could be to take that damn thing down!!
The “Free State” of Maryland will say to you “Bienvenido a Maryland”, and Adios!! Sorry, by computer doesn’t have an upside down!
corr
and I SAY ADIOS!!..
UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE
IMPORTANT INFO:
Here’s MSF protest agenda currently for PWC:
1. August 27 to September 3: Economic boycott - don’t buy anything or spend one cent in PWC - shop outside of PWC and in the stores of immigrants (gosh how can you tell who is an “immigrant” without racial profiling???)
2. Work stoppage - Tuesday, October 9
3. March - Sunday, September 2
Too bad that work stoppage isn’t longer…my husband was looking forward to the break from gridlock.
August 27-September 3 might be a good time to set up some sobriety checkpoints heading out of the county. It would kill 2 birds with one stone: catch a few drunk drivers and catch a whole lot more driving without a license.
Silly me. My approach to the above was way too parochial. ‘Outside of the county’ could very well mean INTO both Manassas and Manassas Park.
Sometimes you are the bug, sometimes you are the windshield.
My post 8/3/07 10:38am
Is for “JUST SAYING…”, no for “had to say”.
Had to say, I’m very sorry for my mistake.
From my understanding about the ‘May Day’… If that ever happens, I don’t understand why the police, or who ever would, just bring in the bus, many of them, and load them up and take the back.
The police should do something rather then let them speak out, they are not Legal American Citizens, they do/should not have rights like legal citizens do. Freedom of Speach, they should not have.
