Mexicanos Sin Fronteras, our local chapter of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN), has announced it will boycott all non-immigrant businesses between August 27th and September 3rd. The reaction I’m hearing from folks is that they’re going to make a list of things they’ve been thinking of buying, and during that week will make a point of visiting retailers and spending their money. It would be pretty humorous to see this boycott fail miserably.
It really is a pretty goofy idea. Is Wal-Mart, Shoppers Food Warehouse, or Potomac Mills Mall responsible for county policy towards illegal aliens? If sales somehow dropped a few percentage points during this time period, would it really change anything, or even be noticed? Past boycotts and strikes haven’t achieved anything, and more often than not end up being embarrassingly ineffective, or even counterproductive. I don’t imagine Mexicanos Sin Fronteras is so stupid as to not recognize the consistent demonstrated futility of this tactic, so while it might perhaps be giving them too much credit, I think there’s an attempt here to achieve a different result.
Mexicanos Sin Fronteras is a signatory to the “Other Campaign” of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation, which is also known as the “Sixth Declaration of the Lacandona Forest”. This strategy is designed to broaden the power and influence of the Zapatista movement beyond traditional strongholds in Mexico and promote the EZLN internationally. The success of this campaign internationally depends on cementing a relationship with mexican and other expatriate communities which might not have otherwise been inclined to support the Zapatista cause, and taking a lead in “pro-immigrant” causes and radicalizing these communities affords an opportunity to grow Zapatista power and influence is a part of that. So far their methodology appears to be to exaggerate any perceived threats to their potential power base, which they have been doing on Spanish language radio and in print media, and call for racial solidarity between the illegal aliens and legal residents and naturalized citizens.
In this scenario, whether boycotts or mass protests are successful or not isn’t the point. The point is to gain the loyalty and allegiance of the broadest community possible that can be encouraged to then support the EZLN. Illegal aliens who return to Mexico and other countries where Zapatistas are trying to organize can be integrated into military and political efforts in their home countries. Remittances home can be diverted to support of EZLN autonomous zones, and communications back to home countries by new Zapatista adherents in the United States, who haven’t seen the abject failure in Zapatista “autonomous zones” in Mexico, can help promote the Zapatista cause in home countries and encourage recruits closer to the actual combat zones. If a boycott succeeds or fails, as long as the number of adherents to the EZLN’s “other campaign” grows, and the local profile and power of Mexicanos Sin Fronteras is raised, it is a success for Mexicanos Sin Fronteras.
Having said that, should mass protests and boycotts miserably fail in the United States, it will encourage other localities to resist radical pressure in their own jurisdictions and pass their own ordinances and laws to reduce the number of illegal aliens in their communities. A massive failure here can reduce the chances other localities can be cowed by these pressure tactics. If the swamp of illegal aliens can eventually be drained, the radicals that use this as a breeding ground can be eliminated.
Law-abiding citizens can help by ensuring that August 27th through September 3rd is a great time for Prince William County retailers, actively support state and local initiatives to reduce the number of illegal aliens in our communities, and do what they can to inform their friends and neighbors what Mexicanos Sin Fronteras is actually all about.

We had one of these stupid boycotts in California. All it did was make the native-born people very, very happy, as we were able to shop, go out to eat, drive on our freeways etc. without being crowded out by illegals and without hearing Spanish everywhere and rancheria music blaring from open car windows. They called their boycott and strike “A Day Without A Mexican” and they actually thought it would bring our economy to a standstill. Instead we partied like it was 1999, happy to have our country back at least for one day. Then we all asked what we could do to make the boycott permanent.
That’s the point, Mary. The last time they tried that around here (Cinco de Mayo, last year) the same thing happened but, additionally, it also was the beginning of the public movement around here to make that situation permanent…which was why it was canceled this year. Obviously, these folks don’t learn from their mistakes.
I love MJM. “anti-immigrant resolution” was passed by BOCS. I wasn’t aware that new resolution had any impact on legal immigration. I thought it was illegal-immigrant resolution. Anyways, this boycott won’t matter. Most “immigrant” business (read illegal immigrant) business are probably not as cheap as Wal-Mart and such and most illegals are at poor end of economic scale. I imagine what will happen to most businesses is they will see a slight decrease in sales for one week upticked by increased sales the next week as all the illegals buy the things they didn’t buy last week. Instead they should boycott the county permanently. No argument from me if they did.
I can’t wait to do about a month’s worth of grocery shopping at the West Gate Giant. Boy, I bet that place can cut it’s staff that week. I get so pissed there. Too many “patrons” not able to speak English while spending their food stamps and WIC benefits.
I must mention while at a traffic light today my daughter said “Can you hear that? I can’t believe it Heavy Metal and not the usual Mariachi music.”
There are so many things we can enjoy.
Is it August 27th yet?
I wonder if they thought about the fact that most shopping centers around here American owned, and by spending their money there(immigrant businesses) during that week, they are still helping pay the rent and taxes to the Americans and government.
We citizens will not have to go out of our way to shop and spend anything extra, the profit margin will surely increase for most stores with just the decrease in “shoplifting”.
On a tangential note, The Washington Times yesterday had an article about the Republican National Committee’s proposed resolution against amnesty. See: http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20070731/NATION/107310030/1002/NATION
It’s about time they took a principled stand, even if it does mean abandoning Sr. Jorge. He’s become irrelevant on this issue.
I just wish they had waited until after school started to do this boycott so that I could have had another week with an easy commute.
I’m with Mary!
Make the boycott permanent. Lets all dare to dream again about a simpler time when:
(1) We went to the 7-Eleven in the mornings on the way to work without waiting on 10 guys each ordering one hotdog and a cup of coffee.
(2) We didn’t have stoplights every quarter mile along the Prince William Parkway.
(3) We didn’t have to press 1 for English
(4) Trailors wern’t a permanent part of school landscapes
(5) Voting was for Citizens and legal residents
(6) Kids where the main labor source for stores and resturants
(7) Every open spot of greenery wasn’t considered a soccer field
(8) The ice cream truck wasn’t a push cart
Ahh memories!!
Heavy Metal, hmmmm, wonder if that was me? I play mine loud and proudly!
Mexicanos Sin Fronteras call those of us that are against illegal alien’s racists and say we are targeting the Hispanic population with our hatred.
I would say they are extremely racist and hate filled toward anyone who is not a Hispanic. With their own words they say you can not tell who is legal or not by the way they look. Well then how are they going to be able to tell who is an immigrant shop/ business owner when they put their boycott into practice?
I would say this is discriminatory and I call these people what they are racist, xenophobic, extremists!
OpenStormDoor
Keep rockin’ in the free world!!! We should fill the air with all American music Heavy Metal, Country, Bluegrass, etc. Heavy Metal is always my first choice. Well, if that was you yesterday, I think we must crank it up!! I want play a favorite of mine and probably one of yours too…by Priest “BREAKING THE LAW”!!
*****
I guess the storm doors can stay propped open during the “big boycott of ‘07″, since that’s an immigrant(illegal alien) business.
Had to Say
“La Raza” (the race), sums it all up. The only race they to be involved with is the race to get out PWC, and the two cities, and move on to Montgomery County, MD. I was in Jessup, MD yesterday, it looked more over run than Manassas.
Let’s start calling it like it is folks!
Illegal Aliens Declare War on the United States
While the current administration, as well as Democrats and Republicans in Congress, focus on the war on terror and the war in Iraq, a greater real-time threat to our way of life and the rule of law in the United States, is manifesting itself just down the road a bit from the White House and the Capitol building . In Prince William Country, Virginia, illegal aliens have just basically declared war on the county, law and order, and the very livelihood of innocent Americans. They have done so, and no one in Washington really seems to care.
In the upside down world that is now our nation, these illegal aliens are outraged that the county is now trying to stem their overwhelming influx and the crushing burden their mass migration imposes on already strained county services. As hard as it may be to believe, these illegal aliens and their supporters, have become so enraged that the county is trying to uphold the law, that they have decided to attack the county on a number of levels.
Just last week, thousands of illegal and legal Hispanics living in the county met to plan their response to the rule of law. Voting with raised fists, they decided to punish the county trough a boycott of non-immigrant businesses, a labor strike, and a lawsuit. Town by town, city by city, county by county, these illegal aliens and the far left lawyers that are eagerly facilitating their lawsuits, plan to chip away at the sovereignty of the United States. And as they do, many of our elected officials and leading “news” organizations, are cheerleading them on from the sidelines.
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DouglasMacKinnon/2007/08/01/illegal_aliens_declare_war_on_the_united_states
Oh, and Mackinnon is married to a Hispanic woman and speaks fluent Spanish.
Boycott is the name of my game.
Boycott time is here again!! whoppee!! The last time there was a “one day without a mexican”, I was able to commute without trouble, get to work on time, not worry about vehicles that were not roadworhty hitting me or losing control, nor was I worried about seeing again the two hispanic fellows who run around Manassas with stickers on their back car window that say “hasta la muerte USA” and “Hasta la muerte Gringos” respectively meaning Death to America and Death to Americans. For those latinos and latinas who think we are racist, I would like to know why we are all referred to, unequivocally, as gringos.
That said, let’s all shop until we drop and do whatever is necessary to support “American Legal Citizen run businesses.” It is very important that we send a clear message to illegal aliens that their disrespect of our laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, mores customes and traditions, not to mention the english language will not be ignored!! Their attempt at depicting Americans as “racist” is nothing more than a cowardly approach too all of their misdeeds. It is not the fact that they are here illegaly alone, it is the fact that being here, they are flaunting their unwillingness to conform, integrate and at least demonstrate some appreciation for the fact that opportunities are given to them that are completely unavailable to them in their own countries. If they are so good at organizing themselves here, why don’t they do the same in their own countries and demand the same servides, opportunities and other favors that they are legally entigled to in their country of origin? It is very simple: they are abusing the freedom which is offered them here, and they repay us by calling us racist, gringos and by constantly and blatantly breaking the law. This kind of “civil protest” denotes a high degree of organization. Make no mistake, there are greater forces at work than just a bunch of modest, poor and humble illegal immigrants behind these boycotts. They are trying to put a pretty face to this issue, while we have to see the ugly realiity of their constant disrespect toward Americans and American traditions.
How about we crank up a little Type O Negative as well as Metalica…gotta mix it up, you know
Or, we could ALWAYS do Led Zep “Immigrant Song” - lol
The boycott makes no sense but this movement is morally bankrupt, all they know to do at every point is emulate the black civil rights movement as best they can.
Rick Bentley
please do not equate the struggle of the black americans to that of the illegal latino community. Even though I am not a black american, I do not see absolutely any parallel. The civil protest that the black community effected in the sixties and seventies were in response to apartheid practices in the south, lynchings, and overall lack of freedom and voting rights.
I do think we need to draw comparisons between the two struggles. Need i mention the fact that black americans are still ostracized in their business and home loan practices? It seems illegal latinos can get a $420,000 dollar mortgage without much ado (see Post article). Although I see this free access to loans and credit as a mass exploitation of latinos which needs to be curbed since latinos are not equipped to deal with complex credit transactions being new to this type of financial issue, I do not feel that black americans were ever as faciilitated or priviliged as illegal latinos are at this time. In this writing when I speak of latinos i mean Illegal Alien latinos. Any latino who is here legally is an American citizen to me, and I speak especially of those latinos that are sacrificing their life in Iraq or Afghanistan.
JL
How about Master of Puppets…”obey your master”, or Welcome Home(Sanitarium)…”natives getting restless now mutiny in the air”.
Chris and Mary, you’re two of the whiniest racist crybabies I’ve ever heard.
“WAAAHHH!!! I don’t want to have to press one for English!”
“I don’t want to hear salsa music!!!!”
“I don’t like soccer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“I don’t want to see brown people in 7-11!!!!!”
You know, a good no-tears shampoo might help with your constant crying and blubbering, and a Summer’s Eve douche might help you get the sand out of your vaginas.
Speaking of shopping: http://www.tax.virginia.gov/site.cfm?alias=STHoliday
Lafayette: NOW you are talking!!!!
liz I’m not arguing with you - I’m just saying illegal immigrant advocacy groups generally imitate the black civil rights movement as best they can. Even to the point of things like this boycott, which make little rational sense. They don’t seem to understand the difference, and exhibit a mindset of “blacks get special treatment by whining, we can do the same”. I feel their actions and tactics are or should be very insulting to black Americans.
I’m anxiously awaiting the development of the Latino Panther Party, media focus on a radical catholic preacher named Julio X, formation of an NAALP, and so on and so forth.
Let’s address your points from a “simpler time,” Chris…
(1) We went to the 7-Eleven in the mornings on the way to work without waiting on 10 guys each ordering one hotdog and a cup of coffee.
Fair enough
(2) We didn’t have stoplights every quarter mile along the Prince William Parkway.
I don’t see how this is a result of illegal immigration. It’s the result of massive population growth in the county, the bulk of which has been white, middle-class.
Oh, and in simpler times, there was no Prince William Parkway.
(3) We didn’t have to press 1 for English
No, we have rotary dials. Or even better, we had to ask the operated to connect us to Klondike 417.
(4) Trailors wern’t a permanent part of school landscapes
No, instead we had the 45-15 year-round school plan. Yes, in the 1970s, Prince William County Schools had similar issues with overcrowded schools. The solution then was not trailors but year-round school in shifts. High Schools had “A” team and “B” team football squads. Children went to school for 45 days then had 15 days off then went back for 45 days. Summer vacation? Bah!
(5) Voting was for Citizens and legal residents
Voting is for U.S. citizens only. See http://www.sbe.virginia.gov/cms/Voter_Information/Registering_to_Vote/Index.html#To%20be
(6) Kids where the main labor source for stores and restaurants
And kids actually wanted to jobs. Today’s kids get $100/week allowances from Mommy and Daddy and access to the family SUV or the “extra” car.
(7) Every open spot of greenery wasn’t considered a soccer field
Oh, and every sandlot wasn’t a baseball field. Puh-leeze. When I was a kid we used any available open space to play something–baseball, touch football, and, yes, soccer.
(8) The ice cream truck wasn’t a push cart
No, every ice cream truck was a roach-infested truck with a child molester running the store.
Chris,
If you remember civics class, you should know that only CITIZENS can vote. Legal residents cannot!
I caution the rest of you not to presume that Mexicanos Sin Fronteras is racist…when I see similar elements in your speech. You don’t have to be Mexican to be an illegal immigrant in the country. How many of the 9-11 terrorists (who were all in this country illegally!) were from Mexico?
If you want to be part of the solution, recognize that immigration is a US policy problem. A fence wont solve it. Retracting bad laws that have negatively affected the Mexican–and US–economy will.
Onan the Barbarian needs to see this in reverse. Why don’t we go to Mexico or any other central american country and impose our cleanliness standards, outdoor ordinances, play football in their yards, throw garbage in appropriately marked containers, impose our safety standards, build as many hospitals and schools.
It doesn’t quite seems so bad, does it?
The reality is that latinos are trying to change the fabric of our society and they are doing it by undoing everything that made America Great. The truth is that instead of trying to learn and educate themselves, they stubborly cling to the little they know becuase they are afraid of losing their identity. They do not realize that their refusal to adapt only prolongs their entry into a better more cilivized way of living. ignorance is not a tradition. Subversion is not evolution.
Why don’t you have a douche. Drink it that is. It may clear your prejudiced mind. If you have one.
Your kind of comments and debased language do not belong on this blog. Use it with your friends and other nimwits like yourself.
Will Carlie Deane be boycotting with his new friends or shopping with everyone else because he can do so eaily for a month?
Liz -
Try to ignore Onan. She’s been here before and she’s a racist - against the American citizen, of course. She’s good at spewing -but offers little and doesn’t add much to a conversation, just a lot of hate, etc.
Onan you are a sick #@*%. Wow, that’s real nice Onan the idiot. Boy, you really don’t have a leg to stand on if you are resorting to femine hygiene statements.
I sure wish Greg L would ban your stupid ass!
AMF(SINCE YOU ARE SO LOVING OF THE ILLEGALS)
Question for Onan
If there were 20 million illegals in mexico, bolivia, el salvador, or any other latin american country and most were caucasian, do you think that most of the native population would look at each one of them as suspicious? That is human nature.
Manassas city resident
thanks for the clarification. Need not waste good time on nimwits
“I caution the rest of you not to presume that Mexicanos Sin Fronteras is racist…”
It is a known fact that this group IS racist. They are for “social reform” and they have Marxist and communist ties.
And NONE of the comments on this blog show prejustice to Mexicans? Don’t point the racism finger until you wipe the prejustice out of your own lives!
Dear michelle
you are quite right about prejustice. That is what illegal aliens are getting. Prejustice, that is justice before they even do anything legal or obey any of the immigration, federal local and state laws.
Yes prejustice.
How about brushing up on your English before talking about our racism. Considering the name La Raza has given itself, who is racist here?
Liz,
What is it about Mexicans in particular that you don’t like? Why are you so concerned about Mexicans, when there are other “illegal” immigrants who are probably planning on actually destroying this country? Also, if economic conditions forced you to move your family for basic things like food, would you do so? Finally, do you boycott every business that employs people who don’t have proper work documents? Restaurants? Wal-Mart?
Michelle
Had to Say is absolutely correct about Marxist and Socialist agendas. As a matter of fact most latinos who are here have been embued by communist propaganda al their lives, propaganda which, by the way, predicates and advocates the destruction of any “capitalist” country. With this kind of mindset, is it any surprise that there is ostility from the latino community towards all things American? It has become standard to hate Americans and America. It is a preconcept and racist notion that is inherent in latino culture. From Castro on down to every socialist party in South and Central America, the United States are seen and called aggressors, imperialist, slave drivers and generally the procurers of any ill that befalls them. I am sure they blame us for earthquakes, droughts, volcanic eruptions and any other act of God. Just like other countries that are hostile to the United States, this notion is not based on reality but on propaganda.
Good luck trying to reform this bunch!
Michelle
I have never spoken of illegal immigrants as Mexicans. But if you want to know what I don’t like about illegal immigrants and their attempts at changing our society, well we may need more time than I honestly feel your reply deserves. Before you get yourself in an uproar, you may want to consider the fact that I too was once a foreigner, and that as a LEGAL IMMIGRANT I had to undergo a blood test, English test, year sof waiting even though my mother was an American citizen ( I am obviously adopted) and as an American citizen daughter of an American Citizen, I am resolute in not flying my country’s flag outside my door, but that of the United States. I will go to the streets for this country, something obviously you are not willing to do. I had to move here not because of starvation, but because of communist threat. You my dear, would not know anything about that. You would know very little of what it is like to board a train and never know if you are going to be blown up.
Your reckless humanism will cost you your identity and your freedom. You have no idea about lack of freedom, lagers, death squads and disappearances, kidnappings and other lovely occurrences in countries who do not have our system of democracy.
Please go lament in another direction.
I can tell you what I don’t like about Mexicans, El Salvadorans, Guatemalans, etc.–They are here illegally. They dress inappropriately, they spit in public, they urinate in public. They do not behave in a civilized manner. They do not understand property rights and consequently think nothing of helping themselves to whatever they want. They are the underclass of their country. Their countries of origin DO NOT WANT THEM. They are using our country as a dumping ground for these illiterate, uneducated lumpenproletariats. This enables these corrupt countries to continue on as usual. We have no one to blame but ourselves. We’ve allowed it.
These illegal aliens need to return home. Go to Honduras and grow Honduran mahogany. Go to Guatemala and grow coffee. Do something of value. Go improve your countries instead of trashing ours.
I saw something interesting at lunch time in Manassas. A nice brand new black Jeep Durango 4X4 with a large Mexico emblem on the rear window with a small “Death To Gringoes” (in Spanish of course) in the lower right hand corner.
Now then, does inciting murder rate as a hate crime or do we just shrug this off as free speech by an oppressed minority?
Report it!
DAY WITHOUT ILLEGAL ALIENS
By Frosty Wooldridge
September 25, 2006
NewsWithViews.com
Last spring, an enterprising film maker created a movie titled, “A Day Without Immigrants” or something to that affect. He based his theme on his assumption that Americans couldn’t do without illegal aliens working jobs that no self-respecting citizens would work. He surmised that America would fall to its knees without this new 21st century slave class.
Since he created that film, 12 to 20 million illegal aliens, about 10 million of them from Mexico, two million from China, and millions more from around the world feel their successful crimes of breaking into America warrant amnesty. They expect more free medical care, more free schools for their children, financial freedom from paying out-of-state tuition in our colleges, free delivery of their anchor babies, chain migration of their relatives and many other ‘freebies’ paid for by American taxpayers.
They expect us to pay for their criminal activities—and, we are!
Additionally, this alien criminal class expects to drive without licenses or insurance, to work off the books so it doesn’t pay taxes, live 20 to a trailer or three families to a house and five cars parked on the front lawn. They want 11,000 of their colleagues–MS-12 gang members–to be welcomed in our country. Let us not forget they push their Spanish language onto our schools and society in general. They insist we pay treatment for the thousands of cases of tuberculosis, leprosy, hepatitis and dozens of other diseases they carry across our borders.
Their fellow criminal trespass brothers steal 57,000 cars annually in Phoenix, Arizona alone while burglaries, rapes and domestic abuse calls scramble our law enforcement dispatch centers 24/7. These lawless facts represent only the tip of the anarchy iceberg perpetrated on Americans.
If President George W. Bush had honored as well as fulfilled his oath of office on September 12, 2001 after several illegal aliens bombed our country into a national nightmare–he would have:
• Placed military troops on the Mexican border as well as added 10,000 Border Patrol agents to guard against further lawless crossings.
• Built a double concertino fence along with a 20 foot steel wall that would be finished within two years of September 12, 2001, i.e., it would be in place right now.
• Instructed Border Patrol agents to arrest, prosecute and jail employers of illegal aliens.
• Stopped the massive abuse of Amendment 14 of the US Constitution instead of allow millions of women to cross our borders in order to birth an illegal child on our lands for immediate welfare on American taxpayers’ backs.
• Instructed Congress to bring him a bill that stopped massive chain migration of an unending line from the Third World as America is already bursting at the seams with too many people.
• Would have demanded Congress rework the 1965 Immigration Reform Act and made legal immigration a sustainable 100,000 per year with a proviso that every immigrant be fluent in English, be educated, benefit the United States and not come from a terrorist country.
• Stopped 20 million illegal aliens from causing horrific havoc to our schools, medical systems, language, jobs, communities, traffic, gangs, drugs, domestic abuse, rapes, welfare fraud, ID fraud and a host of other calamities now visited upon Americans.
• Stopped four hundred Mexicans peasants from dying in the desert trying to cross illegally into America every year.
Had Bush and Congress done their jobs, we would have a “Day Without Illegal Aliens.” What would that mean to Americans?
• We wouldn’t suffer 25 American deaths daily to illegal aliens who kill 13 of us on our own highways and another 12 deaths from gun and knife violence. (Source: Government Accounting Office, 2005)
• We wouldn’t have 16,000 new cases of tuberculosis, 7,000 cases of leprosy, countless thousands of cases of hepatitis, Dengue Fever, Chagas Disease, new AIDS cases and thousands of other disease cases thrust upon the American taxpayer. (Source: New York Times, MJ News)
• We wouldn’t be paying $1.75 billion annually for anchor babies, and worse, we wouldn’t be paying $2.45 billion K-12 annually educating those babies—while our schools devolve into dumb and dumber.
• American workers would be paid American wages at Tyson Chicken, Hormel, Wal-Mart, fast food shops, construction, roofers, landscape and every job Americans have always done for a living wage.
• We wouldn’t have 618,000 convicted criminal alien felons in our state and federal prisons at an annual cost of $1.6 billion to us. That’s after each of those felon committed a deadly crime on an American citizen.
• We wouldn’t have hundreds of thousands of illegals committing car thefts, insurance fraud, driving while drunk and no license, and ID theft.
• We wouldn’t have 11,000 MS-13 gang members operating in 33 states as they distribute $100 billion in drugs to our children.
• We wouldn’t have $60 billion in cash being transferred out of our country annually.
• We wouldn’t have Muslim terrorist cells so easily imbedding themselves into our country for the next attack.
• Our schools could teach our kids in English and not suffer millions of alien kids that cause such consequences as in Denver, Colorado with a 67 percent flunk out/ drop out rate in their high schools.
• We wouldn’t have the Mexican flag being marched around our streets as if it’s the dominant flag in our country by disloyal and subversive illegal aliens who have no right to be here in the first place.
• Contracting firms and other big employers couldn’t cheat, lie, steal and hire illegals for one benefit only: obscene amounts of money.
• Thousands of towns like Hazelton, Pennsylvania with Mayor Lou Barletta wouldn’t have to be making laws against illegals to protect his citizens.
• We would enjoy our U.S. Constitution and the rule of law in a pretty darn excellent constitutional republic that is respected and honored by all its legal CITIZENS
Liz, Monticup, Ted, and others who express frustration at the symtoms of illegal immigration:
Your anger and frustration should not be directed at illegal aliens. They are mere pawns acting in the way they’ve been taught by their cultures. It’s like getting mad at your dog for pissing on a fire plug. That’s what dogs do. That’s what illegal aliens do. Your anger should be directed at the politicians like George Bush, Frank Wolf, George Allen, John Warner, Tom Davis, and all the others who have held their offices for the last 5-15 years who allowed, and even encouraged, this situation to develop. Contact them daily, asking why they have not done anything about this problem. Why aren’t the congressmen holding hearings into why the laws they’ve enacted are not being enforced? Why isn’t the fence being built? Why isn’t 8 USC 1101 being changed to allow for state and local enforcement of anti-harboring and anti-employment provisions? Save your ire for these pieces of rat dung who claim to represent you. Threaten to vote Pervertocrat just to make the situation worse so that eventually it will be reconciled through revolution and violence instead of the political process.
Advocator I for one have plenty of frustration to go around. I do resent the elites who “govern” this nation with disregard for its citizens and for our future. But that doesn’t mean I let the illegal alien off the hook entirely. From a legal standpoint, they are the one committing fraud.
The situation needs to be attacked from both ends, and every possible end. I personally think the Contruction Companies are big villians in all this, and should be attacked head on.
Far be it from me to defend the illegals. Just focus your anger and frustration where it will do some good. Log on to Frank I’m Taking Another Trip to Africa Wolf’s website and send him something like this:
Dear Mr. Wolf:
I’m so glad you’re worried about the lost boys and girls of Sudan. What are you doing about the boys and girls of Prince William County and the rest of your district who are at risk of being preyed upon by illegal aliens? I suggest introducing a bill that would change 8 USC 1101 et seq. to allow for state and local enforcement of the anti-harboring and anti-employment provisions.
Oh Puh-leeze Advocator- Yes some people are exploiting the illegals and the biggest ones of all are the illegal alien apologists, that claim to want to help them!
They are the ones that don’t differentiate between LEGAL and illegal. They are the ones stating that the police will round you up, your kids won’t be able to go to school and they say your elderly mother will die because she won’t be able to get emergency medical care.
All of this has been perpetuated by the pro-illegal alien lobby, not the Americans that actually embrace our LEGAL immigrants!
So yeah, lets talk about racism and ask the illegal alien lobby why they hate Americans?
Advocator,
I think you made some extremely valid points.
Had our elected officials done their jobs, we would not need to be having this discussion.
Dolph
Ted,
I hope you got the license number.
Can you imagine the furor if you had a Death to Spics sign in your back windshield?
You probably couldnt drive from the Mall to 66 without being jumped and your car overturned.
Maureen -
I think you may have “misread” or “misinterpreted” Advocator’s post. He is not a supporter of illegal aliens. He is just extremely angry at our so called “leaders” in this country, who continue to ignore the current invasion taking place in our nation.
Oppress me! Oppress me! I want a new durango! or…how about one of those 2 shiny new hummers parked up in the yard near Strasburg and Sudley Manor? Yeeeeaaa doggies!!!
I apologize for that last remark about the hummers. I have no idea who they belong to or who lives in that house. For all I know, they just won the lottery. I took that dangerous quantum leap…and I should not have.
Why they are doing this kind of stupid things? If they are against all non-immigrant businesses, do they ever think about if all immigrant businesses are united together these illegal -immigrants? Every one should come to US legally and learn English and its culture. If you do not like it, come back home.
Dolph,
I got it. It was a vanity plate (imagine that).
Dolph
Don’t worry that house is owned by a Juan & Isabel. I won’t post their last names. What’s really funny about that house is they have wooden sign with the prior owners’ last name still hanging above the mailbox(which is hanging on by a thread).
I may have to school with your kids if the graduated in the early to mid eighties. Boy, this place sure has changed!!
I guess those Hummers are “his and her models”.
JL
Here’s another one I heard a little while ago..”Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”. Hmmm..the possiblities are enless with that one. I can think of so many dirty deeds I would do for FREE!!!
I must be clear, I wouldn’t break any laws.
OpenStormDoor/JL/ALL
I wish redawn were here she would love this thread. How about “Operation Heavy Metal”. We crank up the metal go down the streets with multiple storm doors open, and with any luck the noise and vibrations would slam the storm doors shut!!
Heck, we can start on my block there’s three doors open right now. Do ya’ll remember a show that used to be on the radio called “Local Licks”? I bet you do. Anyways, we could also gather local bands, and put them on the back of a flat bed truck and let them play ’til their fingers bleed. Of course I wish no harm on those musicians. This is all in good fun!!!
Please Lafayette…heavy metal? Have some sympathy for those of us who would prefer “oldies but goodies.”
Illegal aliens still show their ignorance. I wonder if they realize that some retailers experience a little ecomomic lift during that week. After all that is the week before school starts. Did anyone ever tell them about back to school shopping.
Sounds like things are looking up for Labor Day weekend shopping at Potomac Mills. If the Zapatista Army wants to take a ‘96′ that weekend I’m all for it.
manassascityresident-
I believe you are right, but to put the blame on everyone else and not the illegal’s themselves just isn’t right.
These elected officials need to take notice, if you are promoting amnesty or the do nothing approach, we will work to get you out of office.
AWC that’s just MY personal favorite, I love all music. I think “oldies but goodies” are great too, Patriotic music performed by the military bands, country, etc.
Here’s some oldies for you and other that prefer “oldies but goodies”…
“This Land Is Your Land”(W. Guthrie), “America The Beautiful”(R. Charles), “Country Roads”(J. Denver), “American Pie”(D. Mclean), “The Happiest Girl In The Whole U.S.A.”
(D. Fargo)…I felt like that on 7/10/2007 UNANIMOUS YES VOTE! I bet there’ll be a bunch of “girls” claiming to be the happiest when the “big boycott of “07″ takes place.
Well I’ve said before I DO NOT DISCRIMINATE, here’s more proof.
Hey, how about playing John Phillip Sousa marches at high volume? That’ll probably send them running back to the border! They might actually start to like the heavy metal and other offerings.
Maureen - point taken.
Lafayette,
My stepson graduated in 1982. We lived over on Ashland Avenue then and moved here the year after. You might know him. The ‘little kids’ graduated in 92 and 95.
email me dolphin_moon@excite.com
Lafayette,
Too funny about the hummer house! Have they not figured out what the name plate says yet? I would give a gold monkey to know if those hummers are leasers or if they own them. How freaking ostentacious. On the grass no less. Side by side no less. I had to turn around and drive back by last weekend. It looked like, with a little nudge, the hummers would kiss or something. ewwwwwwwwww
Dolph
I will email soon. You weren’t by any chance a teacher, or spouse teacher or principal?
Laf,
Maybe you can get some of the people in that NW DC neighborhod who trashed that kid’s Hummer because it was too big/too environmentally harmful etc to come over and do their thing.
No, bad idea. They wouldn’t want to touch those Hummers since they wouldn’t want to be accused of committing a hate crime.
Ted
You got that RIGHT!!!!
Lafayette,
I will answer you in email.
Dolph
I wonder which brainchild of theirs decided to do their boycott the week before school begins. Sales are typically strong that week and I doubt that they will have much if any impact.
Music wise, I was playing my Ozzy loudly with the windows rolled down as I was going through Manassas Park today. Last week I saw a Dodge Durango with a large picture of Che Guevara with “la muerte a gringos” underneath it and “El Salvador” under that. So much for non racist illegals huh? All of them shouting that we are racist forget their views such as what Duke University found:
Durham, N.C. — Latinos bring negative stereotypes about black Americans to the U.S. when they immigrate and identify more with whites than blacks, according to a study of the changing political dynamics in the South.
The research also found that living in the same neighborhoods with black Americans seems to reinforce, rather than reduce, the negative stereotypes Latino immigrants have of blacks, said Paula D. McClain, a Duke University political science professor who is the study’s lead author.
McClain said the findings are significant because the South has the largest population of blacks in the U.S. and has been defined more than other regions along a black-white divide. How Latino immigrants relate to blacks and whites — and how those groups relate to Latinos — has implications for the social and political dynamic of the region, she said.
“Given the increasing number of Latino immigrants in the South and the possibility that over time their numbers might rival or even surpass black Americans in the region, if large portions of Latino immigrants maintain negative attitudes of black Americans, where will this leave blacks?” the researchers wrote. “Will blacks find that they must not only make demands on whites for continued progress, but also mount a fight on another front against Latinos?”
In an interview, McClain added: “We’re actually pretty depressed about a lot of our findings.”
The findings will be published in the August issue of the Journal of Politics, which is already available online (http://journalofpolitics.org/art68_3.html#a7). The study was funded by the Ford Foundation.
The study’s co-authors are Niambi M. Carter, Victoria M. DeFrancesco Soto and Monique L. Lyle of Duke; Jeffrey D. Grynaviski of the University of Chicago; Shayla C. Nunnally of the University of Connecticut; Thomas J. Scotto of West Virginia University; J. Alan Kendrick of St. Augustine’s College; and Gerald F. Lackey and Kendra Davenport Cotton of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The findings are based on a 2003 survey, conducted in English and Spanish, of 500 Durham, N.C., residents, including 160 whites, 151 blacks and 167 Latinos. Durham was chosen for the pilot study because North Carolina has the fastest-growing Latino population in the country, and because Durham’s black population includes residents at all socioeconomic levels.
The goal was to understand how Latino immigration — a population largely new to the South in the past decade — affects group dynamics in the South, which has historically been defined by the relationship between blacks and whites. The survey focused on a range of social and political activities and attitudes, including stereotypes each group holds about the other two.
Researchers found that 58.9 percent of Latino immigrants — most Latinos in Durham are from Mexico — feel that few or almost no blacks are hard-working. About one-third, or 32.5 percent, of Latino immigrants reported they feel few or almost no blacks are easy to get along with. More than half of the Latino immigrants, or 56.9 percent, feel that few or almost no blacks could be trusted.
Within the Latino immigrant population, researchers found, more-educated Latinos have significantly fewer negative stereotypes, and men have significantly more negative stereotypes.
“One might think that the cause of the Latinos’ negative opinions about blacks is the transmission of prejudice from Southern whites, but our data do not support this notion,” the researchers wrote.
White residents in Durham actually have a more positive view of blacks, leading researchers to conclude that Latinos’ negative views were not adopted from whites.
In the survey, only 9.3 percent of whites surveyed indicate that few blacks are hard-working; only 8.4 percent believe few or almost no blacks are easy to get along with; and only 9.6 percent feel that few or almost no blacks can be trusted.
The researchers also noted that if whites were the primary influence on Latinos’ stereotypes, Latinos would become more prejudiced the longer they are in the U.S.; the findings do not support that notion. The researchers also investigated whether Latinos might be reciprocating the prejudice they sense from blacks; again, the survey did not support this theory.
The survey showed that blacks view Latinos much more favorably than Latinos view blacks. About 72 percent of blacks feel most or almost all Latinos are hard-working, and 42.8 percent say most or almost all Latinos are easy to get along with. About one-third, or 32.6 percent, of blacks feel few or no Latinos could be trusted.
In the Examiner it was reported that they plan a month-long boycott from August 27 to September 23, but the dates still have to be finalized. They’ve indicated that they’ll have a work stoppage day during this boycott. I’m sure that the owners of latino businesses are really pumping up this boycott - they stand to make some money.
Perhaps American citizens should cancel our boycott of 7-11 during the hispanic boycott. I imagine they won’t be shopping or hanging around there since they are boycotting (ha! I doubt it). It will be the first time in years I could go to a 7-11 without hearing filthy sexual comments directed at me (I stopped patronizing 7-11 a few years back). Yes, I do speak spanish and I understand exactly what they are saying.
It is rather hypocritcal for Latinos to cry about racism - the issues between the black and latino community are well known.
In fact, a few posts ago, Claire brought up violence against latinos in regard to some folks who went out with the intent to kill a hispanic - her allusion was that it was the attitude of racist white people that was the impetus for this behavior - what she didn’t mention was that it was two black guys. There has been an unfortunate violent history between these two communities for a long time.
It’s also interesting in light of the “racial” hatred (technically national origin) that actually exists between the people of various countries of Central and South America. There is intense hatred that exists between people of El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Mexico for example. In fact, I have seen their disdain for each other to be so strong that they could not even work together amicably.

I think that boycott should be directed towards companies that hire illegal aliens. Lists could be compiled that may take a few days, but you could start with the poultry companies, the greely Colorado plant and its distributors, McDonald’s and any companies that you know of that will and do hire illegal aliens.
Also a boycott of Bank of America and other local businesses who discriminate against legal aliens and citizens is plausible. By discrimination I mean the willingness to let illegal aliens use non US issued IDs’ and other non legal forms of identification to obtain products and services. You try and do that. One example of course is the ability to obtain credit or credit card and open bank accounts without the use of social security cards and other valid ids’.Another one is the ability to obtain medical services for free whereas even insured legal citizens cannot readily obtain these services.
the other more valid form of boycott is to write every congressman, senator and representative in order to pass legislation that will make employment of illegal aliens punishable by a significant term in prison and the use of illegal papers or the falsification of papers finalized towards identity theft punishable as a first degree felony.
also confiscation of property obtained illegally through identity theft is a viable solution.
If anyone thinks that this is not a civilized way of doing things, please refer to legislation just passed by the EU which prescribes jail terms of up to six months and fines up to 250,000 per incident and per illegal alien employed in certain countries.
We should follow suit and quickly. And by all means repeal the law that declares anyone who is borne in the US to become a US citizen. Since such a law does not exist even for adopted children of legal aliens and US citizens, I feel that no one who is here illegally should be able to obtain citizenship for their offspring.
We would also need to boycott the US government and our Commonwealth who are the #1 employers of illegals. Something definitely needs to be done -swiftly.
Do I hear “tax revolt” in your voice Legal2?
In our dreams…But we do need to keep these issues alive and in front of Messrs. Marshall and Miller who are involved in the newly formed VA taskforce on immigration in Richmond. We need accountability.
Good they will boycott! Now, I can shop without the crowds and if need be will spend extra to offset any loss these businesses will see if this happens.
Impress me…”Go back home”!
I walked into the Apex gas station at the corner of Mathis Ave. and Manassas Dr. …whew. I took one (very quick) look and turned around and walked right out and plan to stay out. Maybe the other protesters can STAY OUT!!
BTW, does anyone have a list or know how to get a list of Hispanic owned business in PWC? ‘cuz those are the places I will ALWAYS boycott!! There must be a list out there, because how would one know if it is or is not a hispanic owned business. The different groups (MWB, WWC, etc) must be able to instruct which businesses are ok to shop at. Those are the one’s WE should be boycotting!
Bob, it’s not necessarily Hispanic-owned businesses that we should be concerned about…it’s all those businesses that knowingly hire illegal aliens and those that specifically cater to Hispanics, taking advantage and encouraging the expansion of the illegal Hispanic community in our area. These are the businesses that are part of the problem and should be treated as such. Hispanics who came here legally, seeking that American dream and are achieving it, should be applauded and encouraged.
I agree with you, AWC!
AWC-It’s just a blanket statement the same as their protest: ‘All non-hispanic businesses will be boycotted.’ Based on the comments here, I would assume some of these non-hispanic business owners are sympathic to their cause. And why would they want to harm them? Maybe if some of the legal hispanics feel some pressure as a result of the boycott then maybe they will be more outspoken against all of this craziness. Read Pablo Gomez’ letter to the editor in yesterday’s MJM (8/3/07). We need more immigrants like HIM!!!
AWC-And, yes I agree with you concerning the businesses that employ the illegal aliens. However, I don’t agree about those businesses that cater to hispanics. There is nothing wrong with being hispanic. I have two beautiful children whose mother happens to be Peruvian.
The proliferation of check-cashing establishments in PWC/Manassas/Manassas Park is in direct proportion to the rise in the illegal alien population. They are also generally the Western Union sites. That would be a very good place to start in terms of businesses that cater and encourage the illegal population. Anybody planning on sending a telegram soon? You know that there are others.
And I agree, Bob, that there is nothing wrong with being Hispanic…which is why I do not believe that LEGAL Hispanic business owners should be targeted, unless they are contributing to the problem. We don’t want to sink to their level (”BTW, does anyone have a list or know how to get a list of Hispanic owned business in PWC?….The different groups (MWB, WWC, etc) must be able to instruct which businesses are ok to shop at. Those are the one’s WE should be boycotting!”).
I’ll give you an example of one business that I’m boycotting. Someone came on here recently (comment on a thread) relating the story of Kohl’s Department Store and how their store announcements are only in Spanish and, when the manager was asked why, she stated that their customer base was Hispanic and it was their policy to cater to only them. I’d consider them a strong candidate for boycott.
UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE
IMPORTANT INFO:
Here’s MSF protest agenda currently for PWC:
1. August 27 to September 3: Economic boycott - don’t buy anything or spend one cent in PWC - shop outside of PWC and in the stores of immigrants (gosh how can you tell who is an “immigrant” without racial profiling???)
2. Work stoppage - Tuesday, October 9
3. March - Sunday, September 2
AWC,
I think that any boycott of chain stores would have more impact if a letter was sent to the home office explaining why the individual chose to no longer do business with that establishment. Just a thought.
Dolph
And the only way that would impact is if everyone did it.
AWC,
No argument here. Doing both might get some attention and drive a point home.
Actually I have found writing to home offices of chains to be rather effective. I have never done it over an issue like this one, but I have over service complaints. I did get a response and I have also had the complaint kicked down the chain of command to the local store, with an apology from the general manager as well as from headquarters.
Dolph
Yep, a shopping I will go just to prove a point. I look forward to Manassas Mall being like it used to be - English Speaking. Will the Department Stores fire the immigrants that boycott by not showing up? If our citizens wanted to boycott illegal aliens in our county, try this one on for size. I for one am not donating any more tax deductibles to these charity organizations that turn around and sell used goods for pennies on the dollar at the local Thrift Stores, like The Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, etc. Have you ever been in one of these places? It’s like crossing the border. I have donated to these places every year tons of hand-me-downs, but this year I am taking a different route. I’m gonna post things on Craigslist.com and even give it away for FREE if I have to. I can screen who I do business with and won’t have to cross the border to boot. Oh, how I long for the way Manassas used to be. And oh, how the politicians will be facing the music when it’s voting day. Strengthen PWC, don’t weaken it — it’s near the breaking point.
Help Save Manassas was the best thing that ever happened here. Where would PWC be without the brave people from HSF who stand up for what matters? I shudder to think of it.
People, if you are hiring a repairman to fix up your property, just be upfront with the salesman. “I do not hire Illegal’s to work on my house/yard/car.” That little sentence says a lot, and believe me, it works.
