287(g) Goes Regional

It looks like the Section 287(g) Program at the Adult Detention Center is going to become a regional program after all, after having ICE say that regional agreements couldn’t be done. The funny thing about this is that only weeks ago, Manassas Park said they were opposed to participating in the 287(g) Program. Still, Fran Kassinger gets an opportunity to describe some of her constituents as “vigilantes”. What would something positive be without a snippy comment from an elected official of the Manassas Park City government?
Still, if all the localities participating in this actually assign adequate officers to be trained, this is going to yield some important benefits. So far, they’re getting some pretty substantial results:
As of last week, there have been 56 deportation detainers processed at the regional jail, according to Skinner’s letter to mayor and council. There have also been another 35 inmates at the regional jail queued in process for detainers — 23 of them on felony charges and 12 on misdemeanor charges like stalking, malicious wounding, abduction and sexual assault.

According to the article it is illegal “to enter” our country illegally, however, it is not illegal “to reside” in our country if you have successfully entered illegally???
this is wonderful news. It is about time that they combed the prisons and got rid of the ones who are not here legally. I can only be happy.
and by the way, having friends from South America, I can tell from conversation that the thing that got the most attention lately was the fact that the police department in PWC has integrated their database to include all ICE databases. This little fact seems to rattle them quite a lot. Strange that it seems to rattle and indignate even those who are here legally.
Fed up…it is because many of the legal ones aid and abet. Those people should be looked into as well.
I’m glad to finally see this on the front page of the paper and into the realm of reality (if DHS accepts our proposition). Chief Skinner has been quietly working on this for awhile.

I agree with you. and it really pisses me off when they look at me and want justification for why the police department now has ICE database. I had a good ‘ole drag down discussion with a friend of mine only a couple of weeks ago. I asked him why it was his concern. He then got into the tirade that lawns would not be mowed etc…. I really have to tell you, these people think they invented lawn mowing! And they always ogle me next to my very Waspy husband, as in how come you are married to mr. Gringo? Isn’t it interesting coming from people that call us racist?

i hate to wake you from your sweet dreams! Go to any high school in PWC and you will see the very great amount of tension between whites and latinos. My daughter says that she has to daily dodge and swivel around latinos who demand her attention, bully her and bother her. she has been harassed and even manhandled by some of them and she knows that she cannot fight back. She is very little and knows that she cannot stand up for herself. I ahte to tell you, but this is already our reality. It is probably worse for the boys too. One of her friends has been bullied since the beginning of the year. He is a Native US Indian and yet they harass him and bully him.
It is only a question of time.

What do we do with a do-nothing follow-along like Frank Wolf, who has more concern for the neighborhoods in Darfur than those in his district? Oh, I forgot. He did write a letter to Jorge about the problem. Do we vote him out and elect the socialist running on the Democrat ticket? I think we need a Ham Sandwich to step up and run for Congressman!

You think we have it bad here, check out Cities like Los Angeles. The media does not even bother most of the time to report the stories, but the racial tension between blacks and hispanics in LA is very high. Not only do they have issues at the schools, but in the neighborhoods as well.

The media do not report anything that could shed light on the negative side of illegal immigration. They have their marching orders. just look at the Newark killings.
This really is good news for Prince William County and the Park. I hope that it yields a significantly more noticeable level of cooperation between local and federal authorities, despite a vacuum of proactive leadership on the Manassas Park governing board.
Kudos to Fran Kassinger on the most inane commentary during the council meeting last night in the Park.

I find it interesting that Manassas Park police announced that they have requested ICE training, 10 days after a grisly murder was committed, and 13 days after the murderer was arrested for providing false 3 false ID and driving without a license (and also gave law enforcement a fake address, but apparently they never caught on). Wonder if recent events prompted the request?
The recent fiasco makes it obvious that a coordinated effort and additional training are badly needed. I’m glad they will be getting it.

unfortunately, it will take a few more murders before more states go the way of New Jersey. It is a pitiful shame that it took this appalling crime for New Jersey to do what they should have done all along. But then again, Mr. Corzine does not like to follows laws himself, does he? And I really like how the media is just falling all over each other to try to cover this event.
